Rate/Review Milhouse of Sand and Fog (GABF19)

After nine years (in the non-Springfield reality), Kirk and Luanne Van Houten reunite. However, dismayed that they will no longer compete over his love, Milhouse launches "Operation Reverse Parent Trap" with Bart to get them to split again. Meanwhile, when Maggie gets chicken pox, Homer tries to capitalize on it by throwing a "pox party" and charging parents to infect their children.

And...

Milhouse’s parents get back together but much to his dismay they aren't competing for his love anymore. So, Bart and Milhouse devise a plan to break his parents up again by planting one of Marge’s bras in the Van Houten’s bed. When Milhouse’s mother finds it, she marches over and shows it to Homer. Homer confronts Marge about it and completely offends her as usual and she kicks him out of house...so it's up to Bart to get them back together.

Solid Episode, no where near as good as last week but last weeks episode was special. I would give this episode a 6/10 overall but over the past seven years a 8/10. The episode had a good premise and the plot was good. Had a few funny moments I liked the OC gag.

I really liked this episode and didn't mind the marge and homer breakup thing.Overall was really funny. 4/5 Oh, and by the way, are Luanne and Kirk back together now?

Classic. Only questionable thing is the status of the relationship between Kirk and Luanne. They back together or not?

The OC parody somewhat makes up for the fact that they had been relying on less funny TV parodies as filler in previous episodes (a rut Jean has fallen into).

The last act was not as good as the first two but still pretty good. The ending was ok and I like Bart saying what do you think. Nice to see Bart back to his bratty ways.

Uck..... if people actually think this episode is good I can only imagine how bad the other two that I missed are. As far as I'm concerned, this episode was a huge disappointment.

I loved the black church in the beginning, but my favorite gag would have to be the Hip Punishments magazine. Classic. Deleting saved games, throwing i-pods in blenders, deleting customized ringtones... Those took forever!

I was really hoping they'd switch the homer-marge dynamic around at least a bit near the end, instead of having marge still be angry with homer after the bart bra thing was revealed to her. Other than the really contrived plotline, I thought they pulled most stuff off well. Written very well, clever dialogue, good gags. worth at least a B+

My thoughts of tonight’s episode are that it had promise but it had a bit of missed execution on the plot. The first act was very good and my hopes were high as it progressed through the act. Chief Wiggum was at his best as his role as a untalented cop as he normally is and when Homer was at his best point throughout the season in his character as being a mix between seasons 2-8 Homer and Jerkass Homer. The second act was where this episode was at its lowest point with the emergence of Jerkass Homer for the second time this season though Kirk using the magazine samples was a bright spot in a poor act and the Arena Football comment was also a quality moment in a poor act. The third act had an increase of quality but it still didn’t reach the level of act one in quality or the humor level of the above acts but it’s saving grace was that Homer and Bart was at their acted like their self’s for the only time of the night. My grade C

Thought the episode was great until the ending at the river.

Dug the OC parody & I'm a fan of Milhouse jokes, with which this episode was packed.

I dug the Chicken Pox storyline but now I wonder if "Pox Parties" really exist & how common they are.

Very very good episode. By far the funniest episode of the three this season so far, with a strong storyline and characterizations. Two genuine bust-out laugh moments (the OC "parody?" and Homer in the bathroom with his stomach), a few nice sight gags (every black character ever in one shot), a couple of good dream sequences, and finally a notable appearance by Luanne played by Maggie Roswell. My only problem, and probably everyone's, is that it's a little unclear as to whether or not Milhouse's folks are still together.

Edit addition: The people on this board make way too big a deal about the show's usage of Marge vs. Homer stories. It's not about the fact that this dynamic gets used often, it's about how it's handled. One of the best episodes of the last 5 years was one of them, and one of the worst was one of them too. In this episode the conflict was just a consequence of the actual storyline, and in my opinion had more to do with Bart and Milhouse than anything.

All in all, please don't blow this out of proportion just because Marge and Homer have faught before and Homer has been thrown out before. Have you ever seen The Flintstones? Every single episode is about Fred screwing up and Wilma getting mad at him or Fred trying to hide it.

They ignored the interesting plot with the Van Houtens to sink their teeth into the Homer/Marge story, which we saw just two episodes ago.

There were some really funny bits, but this was dissappointing. 3/5

I am fucking sick of the "Marge and Homer fight, seperate, get back together" plotlines. Every other episode. More than that, actually. It's awful. Horrible. Stop it.

Also, I should say "The Pox Party" shouldn't be a South Park did it first clause. As Ned explains, lots of parents do it. Also, as you can see, the kids were fully aware and accepred the party. Totally different story.

no where near as great as last weeks episode but this one was deftinely up to par. living in southern california made the whole oc gag extremely hilarious. its kind of a shame that the episode went the way of marge and homer having problems, but i can deal with that. i would have loved to see more of luann and kirk. wouldnt have killed to have some cracker factory discussion during this episode either. also, i cracked up at the thought of bart trying to fake his own death just like homer in "mother simpson"

Painful. Most jokes fell flat, the OC reference went on way too long.

Adding to the pain was the fact that a few people in my dorm decided to jump ten minutes into the episode and watch it with me in the lounge as they make comments about how the show isn't what it used to be as if nobody has pointed it out before. Why couldn't they watch last week's episode instead?

The show has exausted the marriage problem thing. Bonfire Of The Manatees and this were painful to watch. The Girl Who Slept Too Little was brilliant.
