One of my favorite episodes. In fact, in my top four. This episode is perfect proof that The Simpsons offers more than great humor. The emotional ending gets me every time! I also have to say that sibling rivalry has never been portrayed so beautifully in the show...as well as sibling love.

One of the most overrated episodes of the show. Other than Another Simpsons Clip Show this is my least favorite episode of season 6. But there are a few great moments such as Marge's refusal to give up Milhouse's teeth. 3/5

A very funny episode with just the right amount of jerk-ass Homer.

5/5, one of my favourite episodes of the series all-time.
Kids, let me tell you about another so-called ``wicked'' guy. He had long hair and some wild ideas. He didn't always do what other people thought was right. And that man's name was...
I forget. But the point is... I forget that, too. Marge, you know what I'm talking about. He used to drive that blue car?

Principal Skinner: No Ralph this means you're failing English
Ralph: Me fail English? That's unpossible.

    One of the best.

It is truely a touching moment when they make up at the end, and it's pretty cool when they were against each other as well. It's like you can watch episodes like this over and over again and not get bored of the episode.

I also thought Homer was a bit of a Jerk, Drunk Barney, but it was funny at the same time.

    5/5, A+, I can't see how you couldn't like this episode.

It seems that the only people on here who have outright disliked the episode suffer from the "I-can't-like-anything-with-Mike-Scully's-name-on-it" disease that infects all too many people on this board. This is an excellent episode, there's not really any way around it IMO. Homer is used to brilliant affect as a satire and exaggeration (and sadly only a slight one for some people) of some parents' vicarious living through their children. This episode keeps me laughing the whole way through, and the heartfelt moment at the end reminds me of moments I've experienced with my sister, coming through for each other even though we've had a whole life of sibling rivalry. I love this episode. Easily one of the best of season 6 and the classic era. A+

One of my favorites from season 6. Scully's scripts during Mirkin's tenure ended up a nice blend, for the most part.

Wrong. I dislike it as much as I ever did and season 9 and 10 are growing on me quite a lot recently. I appreciate the effort you put into forcing me into an insulting stereotype though

Obviously I changed my mind a lot in the last two years.

This is one of the few episodes I consider perfect. I believe it hits the bullseye on every joke and has not a wasted second. I've shown it to multiple people who aren't very familar with The Simpsons as an example of the program at its finest and they've all agreed that it's terrific. As a result, I may have watched this episode more times than any other and yet I still love it.

The scene with Homer and the pie is sublime, as the animation and voice acting work together beautifully to create one of the biggest laughs in the history of the show for me. I love all the situations in the flashbacks at the end too. They were creative, plausible, and moving all at the same time. If Mike Scully had been able to stick to writing episodes like this instead of becoming an executive producer, I imagine he'd been one of the most beloved Simpsons staff members among hardcore Simpsons fans instead of one of the most reviled.

    Top Ten:
    1. "Who Shot Mr. Burns?"
    2. "The Way We Was"
    3. "Summer of 4 Ft. 2"
    4. "Boy Scoutz in the Hood"
    5. "Bart's Comet"
    6. "Sweet Seymour Skinner's Badasssss Song"
    7. "Lisa On Ice"
    8. "Bart Sells His Soul"
    9. "Homer at the Bat"
    10. "Lisa's Pony"

    Uhhh....I'll be back! Pruh-Probably.

Top 15 episode for me, so 5/5

There is many great scenes, including the pie scene and the towel snapping part, and that ending is so emotional and exceptional, I almost gets and tear in my eye, seeing all those short flashbacks of young Bart and Lisa.

    Anyway, a great episode;

An all-time classic 5/5! This episode is just non-stop laughs for me and so many memorable quotes.

    5/5.

What I don't get is that people hate new episodes with Homer as a jerk, but yet they like this episode.

One of my favorites in season 6, and definitely a shot at one of my all-time favorites. It has everything you could want: Cartoony animation, quick jokes one after another (and pretty much all of them are funny), a good conflict in the plot, some simple but effective satire on small towns taking kids' sports way too seriously, and great voice acting and joke timing. I wouldn't change a thing.

This episode has some major, glaring flaws... and for some reason I can't help but love it. Here is an example of Scully being himself, but other writers and staff keeping him tamed enough to be great. In small doses, one appreciates the man much more. My brain tells me I shouldn't like this episode so much... but my gut says otherwise.

It always sounds odd to me when I say this [and I feel reluctance], so here goes nothing... 5/5. Always stick with your gut!
she didnt exactly read shrek the 3rd, which apparently exists as some sort of companion book for a pixar movie. no, this would probably take several minutes (perhaps 10), and would have ultimately depricated the shrek 3 cinematic experience

she merely looked at the book

she saw it, perhaps in the childrens section of a barnes & noble, registered it in her mind as being in existance, and filed it away for later as the subject for a post on BOOKS YOUVE READ. only she just looked at it. and it was shrek 3

in a way its the saddest post ive ever read

Truly great episode. A high point of season six. Scully is a great writer, but a not-so-great showrunner!

I wasn't referring so much to you, as to the person that said something to the effect of "This is a crappy episode. Typical Mike Scully," offering no further analysis.
