I hope the theme will be Homers Mother. Perhaps a commentary with Glenn Close? I'm not really sure, but I think an "Old Folks" would be an awesome set. Marges Mother, Homers Parents, the cCazy Old Man...And dear old Jasper...
I hope it's not Who Shot Mr Burns again, two seasons in a row would not look that good =/

I think the inside design will be based on Homerpalooza - all the bands and the freaks, with Homer as the main star.

Why not? The inside of Homer's head wasn't full of beer and doughnuts. I just think that'll be the best episode/theme to follow.

I would doubt the inside of the set and the menus will focus heavily on just one episode the way S6 does. Who Shot Mr. Burns was a big deal, especcially with the cliffhanger (and it's better to let the buyer know from the get go that it's a cliffhanger, so they don't feel ripped off, and it can actually be made into a selling point). For future sets though I would imagine they'll mostly just do a mix like they usually do, since there won't really be any episodes that were quite as monumental on their own, barring maybe some milestone episodes (and I doubt they'd theme the sets around those episodes individually, because many people wouldn't remember which ones happened to be the milestones).

Anyway, this might be as good a time as ever to note (and maybe this can be added to the first post in case? Lawnboy? Mods?) that "Marge Be Not Proud" will very likely appear differently on dvd then some might remember. This is because, as the syndication cuts guide on SNPP explains, Don Brodka's line "If I wanted smoke blown up my ass I'd be at home with a pack of cigarettes and a short length of hose" was actually ADDED in syndication, for whatever reason (despite the addition, there are still cuts made to the episode). Assuming the dvd producers continue to use the original broadcast versions and thankfully skip the syndication ones, that line will probably be missing on the dvd version, though hopefully included as a deleted scene in the process.

That said though, I'm not sure what version the "Bart Wars" dvd has, or if there's any alternate versions out there with both all the original scenes that were cut out and the Don Brodka line. Anyone know?
Two eyes, two ears, a chin, a mouth, ten fingers, two nipples, a butt, two kneecaps, a penis. I've just described to you the Loch Ness Monster. And the reward for its capture? All the riches in Scotland. So I have one question: why are you here?

The Bart War VHS definitely has the smoke line on it.

Really? Damn. That reminds me of the ass/butt switch in Homer Defined (I think), and that was actually a bit off-putting while watching the episode, as I noticed it every time, and notice it when the syndicated episode is shown on TV. If that great Smoke line is missing, it will be even worse.

Though, that being said, on the Foxtel (cable TV) broadcasts, which run the episodes without an cuts, I'm sure I've heard the smoke line. Don't know if anything else is out, but, if it isn't, I for one certainly wouldn't complain if they used the syndicated version in that case.

Also, haven't they used a syndicated episode before on the DVDs, with the rabies thing?

  12. #42

Using the syndicated version of the rabies/tourette's was a mistake, or so people said, it wasn't intentional. I reckon they'll use the same as is on the VHS, on the DVD, which is a good thing isn't it? I doubt it has the syndication cuts on it (I can check later) so it would be the ideal version to release, wouldn't it?

  13. #43

Rabies and ass/butt weren't syndicated versions...in both cases there were simply alternate network versions (it's especcially a shame that they used the Rabies one though). They otherwise restored all the synd. cuts that have been made, including Bart's actual reaction to the Tourrette's/Rabies line ("I don't think I'm quite over it....(switching to Tourrette's) Shove it witch..."), but just used the alternate versions from network repeats instead of the first aired versions. The ironic thing is that both are actually switched back to the original versions in syndication, though Marge Gets a Job loses the afformentioned Bart reaction bit that remains intact on the dvd, despite the dvd having "rabies" instead of "tourrette's".

Interesting about what both of you've said about the line being in versions you've seen...there were again some cuts made to the episode so maybe you could both check the guide and see if those bits are intact on the versions you saw? (Offhand, one bit involves Lisa complaining about Bart getting his present early towards the end). Again I'd be especcially curious about the Bart Wars dvd.

  14. #44

I've seen everything that was in that guide, including Lisa's complaining ("this is the worst Christmas ever").

  15. #45

I've just checked the VHS (UK version) agains the syndication cuts guide, and it has the extra scene, and none of the syndication cuts have been made, so I guess it's the ideal version of the episode! Hopefully that's what will be on the S7 DVD as well.

Could there be a reason why the "smoke blown up my ass" line was removed on its first showing? Is it possible someone had died from lung cancer or carbon monoxide poisoning just before it aired?

  16. #46

Perhaps...one thing the guide doesn't do is say if it ever aired with that line on a Fox repeat (I'm assuming it didn't, but it's possible, especcially if someone simply missed the repeats). Perhaps there was a revised master at some point and they'll hopefully use that. I have noticed they've been using the revised versions most of the time (not just the ass/butt and Rabies switches, but also some beneficial ones, like a scene that only ever aired on one or two Fox airings of "War of the Simpsons" appearing on the dvd). If there was a revised version for whatever reason perhaps they simply used that version to create the syndication version, hence explaining the scene appearing, as well as it appearing that way in the U.K.

EDIT: Actually, I just looked it up on SNPP's broadcast ambiguities guide, and it explains that it was indeed a censor (on all the fox broadcasts). No explanation is given for the censoring, but it does go on to say that the version on Global (Canada) was never censored, and I'd assume other foreign versions weren't either. They probably just used the uncensored version (which I'd assume would be a seperate master from the one Fox probably censored on their own) for the syndicated version, thus explaining the line....

So it could be up in the air, but I guess now I'd assume that we probably will get the line in there after all.

Anyone think that the upcoming 7th Season DVD Case will have Marge's head?

Yep, it's almost surefire that it'll be Marge, since we saw the early designs for S6-10, and Marge was S7. It may change, but it's most likely to be Marge.

I'm expecting around January, to collide with the McFarlene line. Also I really, REALLY can't see a casual fan buying a Lisa or Maggie head, don't get me wrong, Lisa's my favourite, but...she's just not as popular as Homer or Bart(The same goes in FG, with Peter and Stewie)

Season 7 is gonna be Marges Head. I thought the box would be huge cause of her hair but its smaller than Homers. I think that Lisa's will be 8, Maggie's 9, and Bart's 10. Maybe after that they'll have Patty and Selma, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Moe, etc. Season 7 will be out around holiday time. I can't believe that Barts head will be the worst season though. He deserves better!

I'm Bart, who are you? by NoHomers.net
    Marge: Homer where are you?
Homer: Uh, somewhere where I don't know where I am.
Marge: Do you see towels? If you see towels, your probably in the linen closet again.
    Homer: Just a second...No it's a place I've never been before.
    Selma: Ah, the shower!

Nah, I think they'll do something completely different then.
Btw, I like that Lisa's and Bart's seasons fit their ages. IF it stays like that, of course.

I really can't wait for this DVD release - Season 7 is my all-time favourite season and to own it and be able to watch it whenever I want will be awesome. I just hope they don't mess up the cover. Do you think there will be another alternate boxset with this DVD?

If they get a lot of requests for this season, then they might continue on the trend in future releases.
I thought it would go: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie
After these few seasons, I'm guessing those "tin cases" like with the Disney Treasures.
