    R&R: Miracle on Evergreen Terrace

I find this to be the weakest of the Christmas episodes. The only really good gags are during the scene at Moe's, and everyone forgiving OFF by stealing everything and the episode suddenly ending felt like the easy way out.

First I liked this episode, then I grew tired of it. The best joke is when Homer asks the car salesman: "Is this car $15,000? And the salesman wipes out the $12,000 price on the car and he says it is now.

I like this episode, I don't know why it is so hated. Despite a few bad moments it's good enough IMO to warrant a B+

Dear, sucks so many people hate it, I LOVE this episode. I just rewatched it and loved it so much, I had to review it.

This episode just had such a great Christmas-sy feel, and it was done in a humorous, different way (which I guess is what everyone hated). It started off with Homer's rather clever plan for last minute shopping then proceeded to Bart's bad-boy ways waking up early. Loved the call back to the Christmas tree being plastic, causing it to melt and absorb the presents. Great to watch the rest of the town enjoying their christmas (including the old folk) while the Simpsons suffer. Loved the twist with the townspeople being screwed by helping the suffering family, and the introduction of those poor orphans. I really loved that ending, where they made fun of the dumb "have each other" response and the paradox of a beaming, malicious mob. To this day, the washcloth is among my favorite Simpsons ending.

The only gripe I personally have is I wish it developed more of Bart's actual development dealing with his lies. But I suppose having the whole family deal with it was good to make it a family-centric episode.

5/5. Adored this episode, among my favorite Simpsons episodes.

Wow, I haven't seen this episode in such a long time... From what I can remember, I think it's a fairly decent episode, although the ending was sort of strange. 3/5, I guess.

It's a pretty mediocre episode, not really that funny, and not as good as the other christmas episodes

Haven't seen this one in a while, but I remember it being funny and liking it. It also has one of my favorite Brockman lines.

Kent Brockman: "So when your all eating your turkey this Christmas, I hope you all CHOKE, just.. a little bit."

    WRONG!

I couldn't really remember much about this one so I watched it yesterday and I liked it a lot. It doesn't feel like a Season 9 episode at all, it's actually very grounded and the characters seem more rounded. What separates it from a good majority of Season 9 is that it feels like it has a point. You could argue there is not much weight to Bart's dilemma and I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you, although it doesn't feel anywhere like as tacky or forced as some recent episodes. But I personally don't feel that that is the main focus of the episode anyway. The episode does a really nice job of showing the family as they cope through the destruction of their Christmas, and ultimately how they are brought together by it.

The episode isn't amazingly funny, but at the same time there isn't anything I dislike. I think most of the jokes work and are amusing, but the episode isn't of the LOL a minute variety. But there's nothing wrong with that as long as the story is interesting (it is) and the jokes that are there work (they do). I can't say I really understand the complaints over the ending either. I don't believe it's a cop-out, and the townspeople reclaiming their money is not the significant part of the episode anyway, it's the bit after that, which is warm and satisfying, even if the colouring and animation is unfortunately a bit crappy.

I disagree with my old grade, but I'm lowering it. Bart's dilemma feels sitcommy and boring to me, and I'll have to disagree with you VeryJammy, the jokes that are there aren't very good imo. The best jokes make me smile at most (little Homer's sausage and a couple other Brockman moments, fake skiis) and some that are lame (where's Christmas?!; like many other moments in season 9, the end is only a poor man's Mirkin screw-the-audience joke). Not that it's offensively bad, there's just next to nothing redeeming about it.

I've always been surprised that this episode had so many haters. Maybe its just too dark for a Christmas themed episode for some people, but I quite enjoy it. It's doesn't have the biggest laughs, but it's a great story idea that is executed well. It feels more like an O&W episode than one of Scully's, and I applaud them for ending on such a bittersweet (emphasis on the bitter) note. 4/5.

4/5 Pretty good Christmas story. Its hard luck ending makes it more memorable as a unique holiday episode. Gary Coleman should've pop'd in again as a Christmas cameo regular (just kidding)

Bart's dream that wakes him up to peeing is hi-larious! But there are not alot of jokes in this one, and it is generally a sad episode, although it does have a cute ending. 3/5

I would post why I hate this episode with a passion, but I found a review from someone at toonzone.net that nails why this episode is a failure, and what is so frustrating about it.

i think it's not a bad episode, but it's definitely not the best xmas episode from the simpsons imo. Story is ok, but i think it could have been a way better, even when the ending is sweet for me.
