I hate this episode because it kind of goes nowheres, is incredebly half assed written (it seems) and the whole loch nech monster thing really pisses me off. I hate it when this show gets un-realistic, and this thing REALLY bothers me. How could they let the show slip that low? Your thoughts?

Had an excellent beginning, and a good line of funny jokes, but um...they kinda lost my attention at some point.

The ultimate definition of "Average". Pretty much everything about the episode was average as possible. Nothing really good, nothing really bad. The only thing that stuck out as humorous was Homer crossing the lake to play a pinball machine.

Another painstakingly awful episode from the 10th Season. The plot to this one is quite simple; Mr. Burns isn't loved so he decides to capture the Loch Ness monster. Yep, the Loch Ness monster. Homer aids him in his conquest, as do Willy and Frink, whom were both kidnapped by Mr. Burns (!!!) and yet Smithers is no where to be seen. Characterisations are poor, Homer's a juvenile gender-confused idiot and Mr. Burns is a decomposing mental patient. On top of that, the jokes are immature throughout; even one scene primarily consists of childrens fart and sex jokes. Honestly, when I watch this episode I don't laugh at a single thing and there's plenty of moments that just make me cringe (Lenny with the coin in his head). Easily, this "episode" is just a showcase of childish behaviour, lewd jokes and one of the most pathetic, and unbearable, plots excreted in Season 10. Or in one word; dreadful. D-

Oh my god, where to start disagreeing with that lot. I'm completely bemused by some of the above comments.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode again, the laughs came thick and fast, and I didn't have any problems with the premise or the plot in general.

    My favourite parts were:
Burns's creative use of the cattle prod
The radio show with Jerry calling Mr Burns "Skeletaur"
Professor Frink and his Frog Exaggerator
    "Deploy the delochinator!"

Burns trying to get Smithers to start a conga was hilarious..
    "La la la la conga!
    We love Monty Burns more!
    Conga like you mean it!
Please don't make me shock you!!"

And finally Lisa's "Ooooh, I hear this really sucks!!" (this was my sig for a while - great quote

I really can't think of a bad thing to say about this one. Can't imagine why people don't like it. To Clarence, I would argue that the plot doesn't go nowhere, the Loch Ness monster bit develops naturally (ok, ish) from Burns becoming conscious of his unpopularity. The fart jokes were part of the parody of radio shock jocks and clearly were meant to be partly satirical (but were also pretty funny IMO). Would be very interested to hear further arguments though....

Showed some promise at the beginning, Burns trying to be liked is a story I would've loved to see done correctly, I thought the story was OK for the first 2 acts, but the ending was pure shit, 3/5

Normally I do not hate episodes with fiery, burning passions, especially when I was kid. But through all the years of my life I have absolutely despised of this episode. Even before it was made! COME.FREAKING.ON. What kind of MORON would approve a plot as IDIOTIC as Burns going on a quest to capture the Loch Ness Monster which then becomes a blackjack dealer? Maybe I need to snort a fistful of crack so that I can enjoy this episode.

Glad someone at least enjoyed it, yeabutnotno

EDIT: Okay...maybe my memories of this episode are too biased. Even if the whole thing was absolutely ridiculous, there were still some entertaining moments and it did have somewhat of a good premise...until the Loch Ness Monster. But all the good is still overshadowed by the bad, alas

I actually find this to be pretty underrated. It's still a pretty bad episode, but not quite as bad as a lot of people always say it is. 2.5/5 I guess.

It has it's moments such as Willy's freaky looking parents, Mr Burns and the cattle prod and Arthur Fortune's apperance. Other than that, it's a very weak episode, padded with toilet humour and a mad storyline. I mean getting the "Loch Ness" monster, please.....

    I give it 2/5.

Oh man, this one hurt. A terrible Burns characterization, an incredibly stupid "just for the heck of it" type storyline, annoying Homer, not a single decent joke, and what could possibly be the worst decision the writers ever made: the Loch Ness Monster. Seeing a disproven sea creature working at a's not what I want to see on a show that's praised for its intelligence. 6th on my bottom ten.

Kinda my attitude, strange, somewhat OOC for Mr. Burns (from what I remember), but pretty good humor throughout. Still, only a 3/5

Like many Scully episodes, it all falls apart in the third act. To be fair, though, the first two acts weren't terrible, and the ep did have the defrogulator and "Please don't make me shock you." Burns characterization was too kooky, either way. 2.5 or 2.

    I ain't sayin' nothin'

I'll just say one thing : two or three decent jokes doesn't and shouldn't equal a 3/5 or 4/5. Considering the fact that the simpsons is an extremely dense show gagwise with every episode having about 150-200 jokes, about 3 decent jokes isn't much of an accomplishment. kthnxbye.
It's a bit like having sex with a jellyfish: once might an interesting experiment, twice would be perversion!

Some would argue that the episode had -more- than two or three good jokes, though.

I'm shocked at the grades being given here. Really crappy episode. 1/5 This is as bad as it gets.
she didnt exactly read shrek the 3rd, which apparently exists as some sort of companion book for a pixar movie. no, this would probably take several minutes (perhaps 10), and would have ultimately depricated the shrek 3 cinematic experience

she merely looked at the book

she saw it, perhaps in the childrens section of a barnes & noble, registered it in her mind as being in existance, and filed it away for later as the subject for a post on BOOKS YOUVE READ. only she just looked at it. and it was shrek 3

in a way its the saddest post ive ever read
