    Excellent episode.

    A

P.S. One of my favourite parts was the "Merry Christmas and a Happy 1984". Hilarious!

Very underrated in my opinion. Both Herb episodes are great.

A pretty good episode, although one of the weaker ones in season three. B

Good episode, bringing a nice conclusion to the story from S2, "O Brother Where Art thou?".
It's nice to see a rare major role for Maggie, while Danny DeVito is excellent for a second time.

He meant the sign said "1985".

Utterly hilarious episode, even better than its prequel. 5/5

Not great; average for season 3. There were some memorable moments though, including the aforementioned Christmas sign and the 2001 parody.

i really like this episode. i enjoy it more than the last episode and it's a very fitting sequel and a nice way to tie up the loose ends from oh brother where art thou. i still nearly cry with laughter when homer answers the door: "herb!" only to get punched in the face. also, the flanders taking herb in is hilarious. classic episode. 10/10.

It's very funny but it's a very 'just a bunch of stuff that happens episode', they point that out on the commentary.

It's good but....lacking something, I don't think it's as good as Oh Brother Where Art Thou? There's an awful lot of stuff going on and while it's mostly very funny it doesn't quite make for a cohesive satisfying storyline

Great episode. The invention is a little farfetched but its forgivable. They should bring back Herb, before DeVito dies (sorry if that sounds morbid, but sometimes thats the case). 5/5

    A very memorable episode. 5/5
she didnt exactly read shrek the 3rd, which apparently exists as some sort of companion book for a pixar movie. no, this would probably take several minutes (perhaps 10), and would have ultimately depricated the shrek 3 cinematic experience

she merely looked at the book

she saw it, perhaps in the childrens section of a barnes & noble, registered it in her mind as being in existance, and filed it away for later as the subject for a post on BOOKS YOUVE READ. only she just looked at it. and it was shrek 3

in a way its the saddest post ive ever read

Great way to end a season, loved DeVito as Herb, as well as Joe Frazier beating up Barney, plus Homer's 2001 moment on the spinemelter

Before DeVito dies? C'mon now, he's not that old. ;-/

If he's anything like the person he plays on film he shouldnt even be 62 (which is his real age). I hate to say it, but like many things, the simpsons will probably outlast Danny DeVito.

I think they could have avoided the "just a bunch of stuff that happens"-feel of this episode by focusing more on Homer trying to bring Herb to forgive him.
Like, Homer actually doing something to deserve it, helping to make the baby translator successful. As it is, Herb just drives the entire story (he has the idea, comes back to the family, asks for the money, creates the thing by himself, manages to sell it, forgives Homer), which is a bit thin as a result.

But eh, it's a minor quibble, the episode is good overall and very funny. "I've soiled myself. How embarassing." B+

I liked it, but the plot just isn't as funny as having Homer come to design his car. I mean you just know Homer is going to screw it up so badly. Herb showing back up and punching Homer was pretty great, but after that doing the whole baby talking thing was less funny than the first one. Good bordering great, but nothing classic - 4/5.

i'm not really a fan of the fact that Homer has a (rich) brother somewhere.
i always forget that. This second episode with Herb is ok, but i think the first one was
better and funnier. Making a baby translator is a nice idea, but not so funny in this episode.
