But, unless I'm missing out on something, it was never known who actually wrote 2F33, so why would there be a reason other than filling in for him to be on the commentary?Originally Posted by st3vo

Awful, probably

I can't wait to get this set, the cover is odd but I guess I don't mind
Vitti wrote Another Simpsons clipshow (along with 138th) though listen to the So It's come to this commentary
Lisa's Rival seems like it may have been done on the same day as Bart's Inner Child and Boy Scoutz n the hood. judging from yeardley and dan both being on it.
I'll go listen to the commentary to see exactly what he said, it's one of my favourite commentaries actually.

Ah, here we go. More information:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=3676
Though it's still only information for the first two discs. Strange...
Be warned that it contains deleted scene spoilers.
It doesn't even give commentary details on every episode, even though I'm sure it's confirmed that there is one for every episode, actors appear to be joining quite a bit though which is nice.
I'm dissapointed there's no Jennifer Crittenden on And Maggie Makes Three.
Just noticed the episodes are spread
7,7,7,4, it makes sense to have the last disc as the lightest as they need room for the Sprinfieldest most wanted feature among all the other stuff for who shot mr burns. but still weird.

Spanish box:
The set will be released here in november according to Fox España. The exact day isn't known yet.

Well, the last disc will also presumably have the deleted scenes reel, and any other extras on this set. Probably everything except the animation showcases, because are small and can easily fit on any disc along with their respective episodes.
I also noticed that the Australian retailer updated the image to show the real box for R4 (posted on page 9).
Fox forgot to give commentary info to TV Shows on DVD on Bart of Darkness, Sideshow Bob Roberts, Treehouse of Horror V and Fear of Flying. Oh well, there will still be some, especially on Treehouse of Horror V. The Halloween ones are always the great ones that get extra features.
"There's a couple of things they don't teach you in Harvard Business School. One is how to cope with defeat; the other is how to handle a shotgun. I'm going to do both right now."

I don't think they forgot. I think they're purposely holding out on it for some reason.

Interesting list (thanks for the commentary info...) I (like st3vo) also wish that Jon Vitti would have been on the clip show commentary, but it's not a big complaint. I hope David S. Cohen appears on the THOH V commentary.
We get Jonathan Collier as a new face on Bart's Girlfriend, though.
This set is starting to look better than before...
Lack of listed commentary for some of the episodes is discouraging, especcially since they don't seem to have confirmed anywhere that there will in fact be commentary on all of them (SNPP says it I think, but I haven't seen it anywhere else and that Fox site says "various commentaries" or something to that effect). Neither of those seems to be a complete features list though (even just for discs one and two), so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt I suppose. I wonder if they're only listing ones that the BBFC has already passed? I do notice that the list of passed commentaries seems to be consistent with the passed ones.
Two eyes, two ears, a chin, a mouth, ten fingers, two nipples, a butt, two kneecaps, a penis. I've just described to you the Loch Ness Monster. And the reward for its capture? All the riches in Scotland. So I have one question: why are you here?
Didn't Groening insist he wanted commentaries on every single episode on DVD, even those where, like Swartzwelder, the writer wouldn't turn up to comment on them. I'd be extremely surprised (and very disappointed) if only some of them had commentaries.
There's currently 20 commentaries rated on the BBFC website including for Bart of Darkness even though that doesn't appear to be listed
Full Frame, Audio Commentary, DVD additional material, SEASON 6 - BART OF DARKNESS
^Thanks for clarifying. I guess this is just an incomplete list, unless Fox ultimately decided to leave something off for whatever reason.
Groening himself did say though that they practice of having commentary on every episode might stop after a while though. There was some lecture he gave where he said that they might stop (I think he said "after season seven or so") if they start to run out of things to say. For now though I think (and hope) it can be assumed that he's sticking to the rule of commentary on every episode.
I bet the aussie cover was photoshopped from season 3.
"SAY WHAT AGAIN. I dare you, I double dare you, motherfucker".
I'd still be disappointed with that to be honest. I mean Season 7 Oakley and Weinstein take over and I'm sure they have new stories and experiences to tell, then the Scully years has an influx of new writers and I'd love to hear commentaries on all of those for obvious reasons. To be honest if any era was going to have less commentaries I would rather it be the Jean era since it's probably the blandest era out of the lot, I can't imagine a commentary on, say, Old Yeller Belly to name a particularly bland episode being very interesting. I also wouldn't mind if Groening decided to not comment on every episode, I mean his involvement got progressively less and less to the point where often he doesn't seem to know what's happening on the new seasons.Originally Posted by DotheBartman

I think every episode should have a commentary, because there is something interesting to say about every episode.
You know I do for some reason find it hard too imagine jean commentating on some of his later epsodes, especially with the same passion he seemed to do it with in 3 and 4.
But they should definatley be doing it on every episode I don't see by what logic they could decide, 'oh let's not do a commentary on this episode it's less intresting', because for every episode there's probably a reasonable number of fans of it who love it.
and yeah the staff and style will constantly change, the Jean and Reiss one's had definatley started to get repetitive, but then there's the change of staff and directors, Mirkin talks about coming onto the show. and it'll be true of season 7. and if anything there's more to discuss in season 7 and 8 episodes, becauses there's more ambitious and experimental episodes to talk about, regardless of if people think their successful episodes.

Wasn't Al Jean who said that?Originally Posted by DotheBartman
Anyway, I don't see a real reason to stop doing commentaries for every episode... I think there's always something interesting and new to say. Besides, there will be new staff members and executive producers which means new anecdotes and stuff. I'd be a bit disappointed if they release a season with commentaries on just some episodes or on none at all.
I'm looking forward to the first Scully commentaries on season 6!
Amazon.co.uk has just released photo of season six boxset: http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P...1.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
I see no difference to R1 edition.
Why is this set a 12. I've heard that A Star of Burns gained a 12 rating - why, what on earth is so offensive in it?
Is the 12 symbol a sticker or printed on the actual box?...
Lightspeed Briefs, as seen in your dreams.

Wasn't that for the commentary, which Binky has cleverly pointed out means it'll probably be Jon Lovitz carrying on the mike and al are gay jokes.Originally Posted by Veryjammy

It's for "I sleep with little girls" line by Rainer Wolfcastle. Well, that's what got the "Film Festival" complimation a 12.
Printed on box.Is the 12 symbol a sticker or printed on the actual box?...
The Amazon one looks like they've taken the R1 stock photo and badly photoshopped a "12" on it. It may actually be a sticker though, as the R2 Deep Space 9 boxes certificates were just stickers on the front
Sig Free since '03
But Seasons 1-5 had them printed on, plus all the complimation DVDs. If this one is cardboard or plastic or tin, then it's still most likely going to have the 12 printed on.
