Damn good political satire and Burns was the man in Season Two
5/5
Oh my great good God! Gentlemen, your attention please. I am detecting a gigiantic amphibious life-form, it's 80 meters long and it's heading this way. Oh good glayven it's on my shoe. It's a small frog, just get off, just get off there, just get out of it, get out of it. Stupid machine, oh wait a minute, this isn't the Monsterometer, it's the Frog-Exaggerator Mm-hai.
What I loved about this episode in particular was that Mr. Burns actually had more of a personality compared to now. Here he actually talked to Homer and knew his name in a serious scene which I thought was nice considering what his scenes are like now. That was just something that stood out to me, not sure how to describe it entirely.

5/5.
Only a moron would'nt cast his vote for Monty Burns!

Fantastic satirically hilarous episode.
Highlights include Mr Burns' character truly showing in its vunerability as he hits the bottle because of his Power Plant inspection. And of course, Burns having dinner with the Simpsons.
I'm really conflicted between choosing 4 and 5 for the poll, ah to hell with it I'll just choose 5.

5/5 One of my favorites from season 2.

A classic and fantastic episode,I would say that Two Cars In Every Garage,Three Eyes on Every Fish is one of the best simpsons episodes ever,I would give it a five out of five and who could forget Blinky the three eyed fish and don't forget that three eyed fish are just part of evolution.
5/5, no questions asked.

Three Cars In Every Garage Three Eyes on Every Fish: B, 3.5/5, 7.5/10, Great
What can I say... BEST MR. BURNS EPISODE!!!!!!
Ok... it's in "Top three Mr. Burns episodes" - which is stil just freaking Fantastic!
Best moment is with the inspection in the nuclear power plant... Each Burns reaction is just priceless![]()
43 people are fucking retarded! 5/5 for certain and it just has it all: fantastic political satire, fantastic characterisation, fantastic jokes, fantastic plot and just fantastic all round.
4.5/5
I always loved the end of this episode, when Burns spits the piece of fish.
And overall Mr. Burns is very good in this one.
low A-/B+ which translates to a 4/5. The satire was incredible and the best political satire the show has ever done but the story didn't interest me much, and I did think some scenes dragged. I didn't find it that funny either, which I guess in an episode like this perhaps dents my grade. But overall a very cleverly written episode.

Is there any episode you actually love?....
Yes, I just haven't reviewed them yet. And by "love" I mean A+ worthy, ie. as perfect as an episode can get. And there's about 10 or so of those episodes for me, sooooo probability-wise the chances of me having reviewed one out of ~500 so episodes is pretty low
3.5
Marge's behavior during "Two Cars In Every Garage, Three Eyes On Every Fish" has always bugged the hell out of me. Granted, Monty Burns IS a terrible man and would have made an even worse governor, but her anger at Homer seems petty considering that Burns is his BOSS and thus Homer had no choice but to support his campaign (Homer even says as much during the episode). Particularly annoying was her refusal to "snuggle" because Homer wasn't letting her "express [her]self"...WTF does that even mean? Did he forbid her from campaigning for Mary Bailey on her own or volunteering her time or anything like that? And Homer didn't exactly volunteer his home for the photo-op (although that probably wouldn't have been the case in later seasons), and his refusal (assuming he was even given the option) would undoubtedly have resulted in his immediate dismissal...or WORSE. And the ending, with Marge's condescending attempts to "comfort" Homer (after Burns threatens to make his dreams go unfulfilled) by basically implying that he's a fat loser and thus has no dreams to crush, irritates me even more. I understand what the writers were aiming for, but they only succeeded making Marge an annoying pain-in-the-ass (and a bit hypocritical, considering her actions in "Blood Feud" later that season).
(I posted this at TV Tropes awhile back, but I thought it was worth repeating.)
Dear Advertisers:
I am disgusted with the way old people are depicted on television. We are not all vibrant, fun-loving sex maniacs. Many of us are bitter, resentful individuals who remember the good old days when entertainment was bland and inoffensive. The following is a list of words I never want to hear on television again:
- Number one: bra.
- Number two: horny.
- Number three: family jewels.
Sincerely,
Abraham J. Simpson
So Homer should back his boss before his wife? You must be divorced!
As for her talk with Homer at the end, I don't think it was condescending in the least bit. Genuinely supportive and reassuring.
Even if you are right, I don't know how you can justify taking away 1.5 of a vote out of 5 just because of 2 scenes in which you criticise Marge despite her being absolutely spot on. It's a classic episode mate, almost faultless!
That's how much those scenes bothered me, especially since in "Blood Feud" she was practically in hysterics when Homer was about to send Burns that nasty letter because it would have cost him his job. What did she think would happen if Homer had turned Burns down or campaigned against him? I thought Homer (of all people) came across as the sane, rational one during the episode while Marge was being needlessly petulant and childish at times, and I don't think that was the intent. Everything else about the episode was solid, but those scenes leave a bad taste in my mouth even after all these years.
spot on satire that puts southpark and family guy to shame
One of my fav episodes ever. For me it would've been absolutely perfect had it not been for the ending.
It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Its not really the ending ending I hate. I love the conclusion. Maybe its just the raging feminist in me, but I hate how Mr. Burns blamed the downfall of his political career on Homer rather than Marge. He didn't even act like she was there. It was Marge after all who served Blinky the fish in front of the cameras. Other than that it was an amazing ep
Great point to be fair![]()
A classic, and a good example of the Simpsons at top form, and the first Burns-centric episode. The excellent supporting cast allows for this. Smart political satire, so exaggerated that it's funny, but at the same time so spot-on that it's hilarious. The characterization is superb and the story interesting. It's smartly-written, with good jokes throughout the episode. Just flawless.
