Not bad, but for all the (always brilliant) Citizen Kane gags, there just aren't enough hilarious moments. It simmers, but doesn't boil. Whatever that means.

I remember it being perfect, though I probably laughed at Blood Feud more.

4/5 A good political satire but the episode could have used some more humor. Also, the episode doesn't show Mayor Bailey very often or explain why Marge is a Bailey booster.

explain why Marge is a Bailey booster.
I think it's because he's not Burns, right?

Seeing as how I should have been killed 316 times...

4/5. I agree with many of The Foot's comments; it should have used Bailey on the same level as Burns for a higher level of political drama.
Bart: "Please don't call our parents!"
Chief: "I'm afraid I have to for hijinks like these. Hijinks - it's a funny word. Three dotted letters in a row."
    Eddie: "Is it hyphenated?"
Chief: "It used to be, back in the good old days, you know. Of course, every generation hyphenates the way it wants to. Then there's *NSYNC! What the hell is that? Jump in any time there, Eddie, these are good topics."

A little too slow for me 4/5, and I agree, this episode is muchly over-rated.

I'm willing to bet that I don't get alot of the citizen Kane references (except Burns's picture) but I think I do get the political satire, and it is just fantastic without being too heavyhanded. Mr. Burns as at one his best characterizations ever, and there are enough gags to sustain through the episode (the garbologist) Easily a 5/5

Always loved it, used to get friends hooked on the show with this episode when I only had the first 2 seasons, so I've seen it tons of times. Definitely would be in my top 10 (or 5) if I was not too picky to actually make a list.

    5/5!

This is one of those episodes I just can't find fault with. Hilarity from start to end with what I percieve as Burn's funniest, meannest and best characterisation ever, fantastic Homer, and the rest of OFF had a great role. Who didn't fall over laughing when Burns was explaining what was wrong with the plant? "Oh, that's always been like that!". I haven't touched upon the satire either, which is just pure class. This is a top 5 episode and one of the groundbreaking episodes of its era. Hell, it still is one of the best things I have ever seen on TV. A++

    A tribute to Bart Simpson

You think THAT's bad? What about that time when I was turned into a Tetris block?

    5/5, great episode.
Kids, let me tell you about another so-called ``wicked'' guy. He had long hair and some wild ideas. He didn't always do what other people thought was right. And that man's name was...
I forget. But the point is... I forget that, too. Marge, you know what I'm talking about. He used to drive that blue car?

-- Homer's parable of the guy in the blue car, ``Homer the Heretic''

    Ralph: I Won! I Won!
Principal Skinner: No Ralph this means you're failing English
Ralph: Me fail English? That's unpossible.

Great political satire, good characterizations, and I love Burns' various names for the average Joe (Joe Sixpack, Susie Housecoat, etc.) It's also one of the most well-plotted stories in what I believe is the season with the best writing of the entire series.

"Only a moron wouldn't cast his vote for Monty Burns!"
    Dramatization: May not have happened.
