4/5.
Very good but slightly overrated imo. The crew picked this for emmy consideration that year and I think there were many more episodes from that fantastic season that were more worthy. Still great though.

Amazing episode, I couldn't get it on tape, but I have a copy of it on my computer.
Get a job, and buy the DVD.
Anyway, I love this episode. One of the best of the third season. A+
How about you get a job and fuck off, assuming I don't have a job. You still are an asshole, and my goodness you haven't changed. I just don't want to waste my money on dvd's, that are retardedly expensive, I have a life. And I suggest you get a freaking life, and not spend all day spamming a good message board with your bullshit, and rudeness to other posters.

The DVDs aren't that expensive, I got mine at Wal-Mart for about $35 iirc. And it's illegal to not buy them and have the episodes on your computer.

4/5, A Very good episode, but not quite one of my favourites from the classic era.
Another fantastic episode from my favourite season. 5/5

Yep. Not the best in the season, but it's up there, and I'd consider it a classic. I still laugh at "There's only one can of beer left, and it's Bart's." 5/5Originally Posted by grissom

Chief: "It used to be, back in the good old days, you know. Of course, every generation hyphenates the way it wants to. Then there's *NSYNC! What the hell is that? Jump in any time there, Eddie, these are good topics."
A good episode that includes one of Krusty's finest musical moments. 8/10
We live in a society of rules. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn't hear anybody laughing! Did you?! Except at that guy who made sound effects. Brrruuummm!, zhoo-zhoo!, rrraaassspppp!, honk!, honk!, pkeeerrrrgghhh!, ahoo-hoo, he-he, hoo-hoo. Where was I? Oh yeah... Stay out of my booze!

Very well done episode, with nice characterizations, good gags and a very enjoyable first act, but for some reason I'm not the biggest fan of this particular storyline. 4/5
This is an example of the episode that makes season 3 great. 5/5
I absolutely love this episode, especially "We're Sending our love down a well" 5/5

Radio Bart is the definitive Bart vs. the world episode and it has extremely well-done sharp social commentary on how the media and society treat a hot issue and how people forget about that incident once the media stops spotlighting it. Bart's characterisation is particularly great : cynical and mischievous yet really empathetic and subversive. It is my favorite out of all of Season 3.
The first act is filled with classic Bart pranks : putting his label on everything, pretending to be a Martian in order to scare Homer, pretending to speak as Maggie, spying on Lisa, making farting noises in class and tricking Rodd and Todd by posing as God.
But the episode reaches its peak once it gets to the media circus that ensues once Bart pretends to Timmy O' Toole.
The media gathers on the hot news spot and Kent Brockman's hilarious self-important uncaring reporting is in full gear. The media successfully makes a hero out of Timmy for the sake of a good cover story while Springfield actually does almost nothing to actually rescue the boy rather than only expressing sympathy.
As usual, celebrities join in the circus cashing in on the situation for good publicity. "We're sending our love down the well" is one Krusty's greatest musical performances. And when he explains what use the money raised is going to be put to i.e. paying for promotion, shipping, distribution, the limos they rented and whatever's left over, they throw down the well is powerful observational social commentary on how much of the money raised by Charity concerts, TV programs or other events actually reaches the victims.
The episode also jabs at referential nature of certain tv programs as well. The Itchy and Scratchy is hilariously insensitive in referencing the tragic event but makes it look like it is making a heart-warming dedication.
Then, it is seen that a circus has LITERALLY developed near the well with people enjoying themselves and souvenirs being sold. Instead of actually rescuing the boy, the people are fulfilling their responsibility by expressing sympathy, buying an item referencing the event and eventually celebrating it as a pop-culture event. Once again, very sharp observation of how the majority of us act when dealing with an event of tragic nature.
When Bart actually falls down the well, the situation is reversed as the media does not sympathise with Bart's plight and hence so does not the people. Once the media finds another "hot" story (the very absurd "Lincoln squirrel", which sharply jabs at how often the media often highlights extremely bizarre and insignifcant events in absence of a "hot issue") , Bart's story is completely forgotten and the well is deserted. This is yet another nice social observation on the fickle nature of the public. Once the media stops concentrating on a victim or a tragic incident, it fades off from our minds.
Media bashing continues as Channel 6 continues their coverage the "assassination" of Lincoln squirrel the whole night which yet again jabbbing at the media's tendency to sensationalize events by doing live coverage.
But, the episode gives a resolution to this mentality as well : Once Homer takes the first step to rescuing Bart, the whole town follows. It shows that once someone in our society actually takes the first step towards a vigilant task, the rest of us follow suite. We are not uncaring and evil, just impressionable and lazy folks.
A fantastic Bart story and an absolutely brilliant media satire. A+
Don't know why I bothered posting that. It's not like anyone would read that.![]()

'Sending our love down the well' classic episode 5/5

Excellent, one of my favorite episodes. And Krusty singing "We're Sending Our Love Down The Well" is one of the funniest things I'll probably ever see.5/5.

3/5 It is ok but I have seen better
A season 3 great, which felt a lot like it belonged in season 4. But still, satire doesn't appeal to me as much as emotion or other forms of humor, so in my opinion, the episode is an A, but not A+ perfection. 4/5.
