I love it, haven't seen it in a while. I like Frank Grimes alot, espically the scene about him taking a bullet for someone, it shows the guy get shot like 5 times, then Frank jumps infront and gets shot once. Gold. And then he's running towards a cylo, and it just kind of explodes, lmao, that poor guy.

Homer's Enemy is a goddam classic. Since I'm poor and don't have Sky/Cable, can someone quickly reassure me that the one I've been told about, where Grime's kid shows up, is an abomination.

Yet again it seems I'm a lone critic here - Homer is very very irritating throughout this episode. If he behaved like this in the Scully or Jean era everyone would be screaming 'JERKASS HOMER'. And it has an utterly tedious and pointless subplot.

I don't think he's irritating. He tries to make friends with Grimes, but fails. The subplot is possibly the best of season 8.

And if it came in Scully era, it would be entirely different, so we'd scream 'JERKASS HOMER', but in Jean era...well...

Although I do stand by my point that the subplot is weak, and that it does ultimately detract from the episode. I agree with everything Arlen Texas said actually. Considering how many episodes in Season 8 have no subplot at all, I find it very surprising they would put one, and such an insipid one at that, in such a daring episode. I just get annoyed when it cuts away from such a great story to such a bore of a B-story.

I think Burns is a bit iffy too but fantastic episode all the same.

Anyway, BRILLIANT episode. One of my favorite episodes ever. I think that everything about it is great. Simple, yet dynamic premise, fantastic acting (especially from Azaria) and some great bits of dialogue, as well as animation.

The subplot was simple, pointless and lighthearted, but that was the whole point of it. The A-plot was so dark that Bill and Josh felt that a B-plot would balance things out. And I think it accomplished that much. I enjoy the subplot, actually. 8-)

I can't really argue with the negative reviews I've seen about this episode, but I still like it. A very dark episode, and very hilarious. It starts to lose some steam in Act 2, and the part about Bart's factory didn't amount to much, but Act 3 had me laughing from start to finish. I give it a high 4/5.

But then they keep cutting to this "B" story that could fit into any normal episode. And as a normal episode, this story doesn't work. So I wish they'd cut that part out and maybe filled the story out with an Itchy and Scratchy cartoon (with Grimes wondering why everyone seems to find this so hilariously funny when it obviously has no comic timing at all).

Well, I guess you could look at it that way, but I think the B plot was great. Some of my favourite Milhouse moments are in there. Who could forget 'wacky shack'?

Anyway, this episode gets a solid 4 from Bob Dole. I love Grimey and the dialogue between him and Homer was fantastic, but I can't quite give it the five because the whole thing just doesn't quite fit with the Simpsons universe. The last joke of the episode seemed to be a bit in bad taste. I mean, it's a little funny, but it also made me pissed off at Homer.

just re-watched it a few minutes ago, for the first time in ages. There's alot to like about this episode, including some subtle but effective animations. But I wasn't too crazy about Frank Grimes himself, and IMO his introduction into the Simpsons universe felt too forced. Be that as it may, the laughs were still there...overall, 4/5

Grimes' character and the ending make this one 5/5. It's not perfect, but the good parts are so excellent you can forgive the flaws. My issues would be that Homer is really a little irritating, not as much as Scully's, he's more like his self in Homer Loves Flanders...it is useful for the plot to make him a little irritating, I guess, in order to show that a person like Homer would not be the best guy on earth if he existed in "real world" so it's not like Scully episodes in which he's irritating for no reason and they try to make "jokes" with him annoying everybody else. Also there isn't much plot. It's only Grimes being annoyed by Homer, it's a little like "Two Bad Neighbours" in a way. And the subplot is ok, but nothing special.

Butters, you gotta see Enemy when it comes next on Sky. it's one of these episodes you just have to try and see...

as for me I gave it 4/5. Homer isn't a "jerkass" but he's annouying. I also found the ending very dark.
