Comics coming in March, including a new trade paperback:

    http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stori...bongomarch.htm

Don't like that they're already giving the paperbacks the new "Simpsons" logo. The standard issue covers are still pretty crummy, though nice that they've tried to give Bart Simpson something a bit better than characters on a coloured background.

Ralph Wiggum Comics goes on sale in February.

Do you plan on buying it?

Never heard about that. I might give one a shot, but I don't hold high hopes for them if they're just going to use Ralph like they do on the show.

It's a one shot issue. According to reports previously posted in this topic, Bongo are going to be doing an entire line of one-shot issues featuring characters such as L'il Homie and Maggie. Ralph Wiggum Comics is the first though...

Thought this was interesting. Simpsons comics sells 150,000 more copies in France than the U.S.:

    http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/12/...s-market-2011/

The U.S. numbers are only 6,000-7,000. Every time I go to a comic shop on "new release" day, I only see 1 Bongo copy per Bongo title on the racks. I think the direct market vastly under orders Bongo.

At least Barnes & Noble seem to be picking up the slack. I found a good B&N spot where they order at least 20 copies per Bongo title. Even with the Super Spectaculars and the Winter Wing Dings Annuals (and Classic Simpsons Magazine too). That's been my go to spot for the Bongo line when I can't rely on the comic shop scene down here.

    Where's this bit mentioned?

Here's the thing I don't get about Bongo - if they hardly sell, why do they insist on making even more titles, and have issues coming monthly? Isn't this costly? You have to pay writers, editors, inkers, etc.

About "Junk Mail", why the hell hasn't Bongocomics.com created a message board? I swear, so many companies are just too damn dumb. They would potentially increase their readership if they reached out to readers/fans of the show. They had that domain for over a decade and it wasn't until two years ago that they finally built a site for it. If they're smart, (and they're not), they'll also go digital like most of the industry is finally figuring out, that's it's time to move into the 21st century. Bongo is just such a waste, and what is it with the horrible pencilers? The artist the company had for the longest time, one who still stuck to the original character designs, suddenly decided one day to use a certain type of pen to outline the characters, and it gives them an off-model feel. I hate the guest artists who do the Treehouse of Horror books. I miss the 90s comics that were fresh, and sleek, staying true to the character designs.

I got it from the new Bongo promo comic that looks like it was a retailer comic incentive or preview comic (cover pic is on the previous page of this thread):

I agree that the Bongo Official Site needs a message board but i'm happy with the ramped up output of the monthlies and one-shots coming from Bongo and crew.

The website's comic gallery could use a better layout. I still prefer the planetbongo.com cover galleries when that was still around. And maybe a section to highlight all the international versions and variants for the comics. The main thing that get's updated is the "sketch a day" but more news would be nice.

Thanks a mil for the scan! Maybe I missed it, but can you pan down that page to the art they're hyping?

I named the Bart Simpsons Comics letters page, so needless to say I'm pissed. I got into a fight with the woman who worked as administrator for them at the time. They had a contest for naming the letters page. To make a long story short, they never explained how to get your prize if you were chosen. I sent my submission via e-mail, so I never had to waver the rights to my submission with my contact details (you used to have to sign a release at the bottom of your letter sent via USPS). I contacted them and got no response.

One of the writers, who shall remain nameless, frequented a comic board. I asked her what she thought I should do. She sent my question off to the people at Bongo. I received an e-mail back saying how dare I contact a writer, and to never do that. Bottom line, Bongo's left a bad taste in my mouth ever since that incident, and it's not just because of the horrible writing and art design. It was like they were running a scam. I still remember that e-mail though. I wish I still had it. I almost fell off my seat when I read it. I simply asked what I should do. I wasn't snarky or anything. Just asking for some advice.

I have to say that the company did make good - FINALLY. They sent me a sketch and two signed comics, Bart Simpson #1 signed by Bill Morrison, and Simpsons Comics #1 signed by Matt Groening. Thank god the prize wasn't food, because I'd be afraid they'd spit in it after being so supposedly upset with me.

It'd be awesome if they one day decided to reprint the original Simpsons Illustrated, maybe in a bound book or something. That magazine was a treasure!

BTW, does anyone get a Disney vibe from these new covers? It reminds me of a Mickey Mouse design, especially the logo. I'm guessing they did a little marketing research and got word that the new look would pop off the shelves, perhaps drawing more readers. I can't figure out any other reason than that for their going this direction.

#200 is the March 2013 issue, so they're probably saving that for the "What's in the Works for 2013?" column

Presumably, it'll be a larger issue, like #100 was (and hopefully, it won't be a "clip show" like #100 was).

Questions for the Simpsons Comics gurus:

Does "Bart & Lisa Simpson in Halloween Hoodoo!" (which is in the paperback THOH from Beyond the Grave) appear in any of the comic books, and if so, which one?
From the way it is drawn, it looks like it was meant for an issue of Bart Simpson Comics, but I can't find it in any of them (nor in any of the THOH comic books).

If a message board is desired, I can create a fan run message board about Bongo Comics relatively easily, it wouldn't be the same. But would people still visit it?

I'd assume the main bulk of traffic for a Bongo Comics board would be generated through bongocomics.com itself, so unless the message board was integrated with their own website I personally don't see it being very popular.

I'm an absolute Bongo Comics nut, and that story title doesn't sound familiar to me. I'm guessing this is the first time it's been printed.

I thought that as well, which is obviously why I didn't just go and make it. Like I said though, the offer is open if people want to take it up. :P

I know I'm incredibly biased here, but official message boards are the worst

Heck yea. The internet needs more Bongo forums. I think this is the only thread on the net that talks about the comics. It's the main one I click to for updates on this forum.

Given how much time, effort and money I've spent on trying to get my current forum integrated into my site in a similar vein to the NHC. I'd be more inclined to make a comic section on the current forum for all the threads instead of creating an entirely new message board from scratch. There's an entire comic capsule & user submitted review/trivia/quotes ability that I should probably get finished, similar to what I have for episodes.

That said, it's not like it's impossible to integrate two forums, and a website together, I've seen it done.
