New Simpsons Illustrated comic quarterly coming in January:
Big Bongo month....new cover layouts too....i'm not too crazy about the new Bongo logos though.
what the heck
what was wrong with the old logos??
that 4 variants are out of print.
ebay.de ist an option http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_nkw=tod+simpsons+variant
but high priced
i paid for 1x original + 3x 4 variants (total 13 comics) 87€
a 5 comic set costs on "comic festival" 31€
on the other hand for american curiosities i have to paid also much money
i got from each variant 6 issues (3 for my friend and 3 for me)
no variant of "Bart Simpsons Horrorshow" exists this year, because no artist from bongo did came to germany.
bart's or bart simpson's = english
barts or bart simpons = german
http://maggied.de/index.php?page=Thr...973#post326973 some pictures from comic festivale (#68 - bill isn't drunken)
a german funnies doesn't exist till now.
without a regular no variant
New Bongo logo and issue logos suck. Makes me wonder how they messed with Simpsons Super Spectacular.
UP AND ATOM!
Holy crap those logos are butt ugly. Is their confirmation these are permanent or is it possible it's, you know, maybe a 1-off "retro" theme for the month as that is when the "relaunch" of Simpsons Illustrated is occurring.
Speaking of Simpsons Illustrated, I don't understand why they're suddenly using that name again. If they're reprinting various stories from old comics, that's exactly what they did with Simpsons Comics Treasure Trove (and look what happened to that - discontinued after only a year or so). Has absolutely nothing in common with the former Simpsons Illustrated, it would seem.

So are the comics these days similar to the show? The styles of older comics seemed to mimic the eras at the time, but I've heard that some of the writers don't like the way the show is now.
Like, do the characters act like their season 23 selves, or more like their "classic" selves?
In the comics it really depends on the writers, but in my opinion they don't really match up with how they are in the show. If anything, they are more grounded in reality in the comics - Bart is the little brat, Lisa is the smart 2nd grader, Homer is the sometimes obnoxious yet caring father, etc. Contrasted to the current show, where they have a hundred different personalities for each character every season. I particularly like how Ian Boothby characterizes the family - he has written some great stories featuring Bart and Lisa being, well, kids; can't really say that about the show 95% of the time.
I agree. One of the best things about the old comics was the little stories at the back (speaking of which, what is with those weird Dean Rankine stories they've been running the last few months?), and how they made up a comic book concept for a lot of secondary characters. Plus, that's pretty awesome cover art (and Simpsons Comics doesn't look half bad this time around with the new design, either).Originally Posted by Dark Homer
Can only hope that this "rebrand" includes the comeback of Junk Mail - last year they were running those ads for a couple months asking for letters, but nothing ever came of it.
One Shot Wonders is gonna be a bitch to try to make a standing reservation for at the comic shop, unless they have a banner atop each issue stating it is a part of that line.
I also read that Aragones is writing & drawing a "Maggie" special which looks like that would be part of this "One shot wonders" line.
I hope Krusty gets a One-Shot....and Kang and Kodos....
I'm not a massive fan of these covers, but I can understand where they are coming from with changing the design. The current one is almost a decade old, and I guess they wanted to shake things up a little. Every time they've changed the cover design in the past (this will be the fourth different cover design in Simpsons Comics history), it has been rather subtle if anything, so they probably thought they should undertake a bigger change.
Though, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
There's a new Bongo promo insert floating around that previews some of the Bongo books for next year. I tried 3 shops and couldn't find any but found one on ebay:
also features a Bongo timeline with some of the key Bongo books dating back to 1993:
It also mentions the other characters who are getting the "One shot Wonders" spotlight with: Ralph Wiggum, Lil Homer, Bart's Pal, Millhouse & Maggie.
nice to see jimbo and heroes anonymous in that pic
Probably not, but is that Hank Hill in the bottom right?
It's a drawing of Sergio Aragones, from the cover of Sergio Aragones Funnies #1.
Oh, right right right. Thanks.
I have been looking for a copy of Simpsons Comics #31 Ad Version.
I have tried to locate just one copy but can't find one.
Does it even exist?
If you know of where I can get one, let me know.
Here's a bigger pic that's a little less blurry than the one up there to see the timeline better:
Won't there be any new Simpsons Classics in (jan/feb) 2012? I had hope we would get at least the first 74 (no matter what happens to #50) issues in 37 classic comics.
2012 Bongo Comics Free-For-All!
SpongeBob Comics Freestyle Funnies
Bongo offers the best in humor comics with a proud tale from the boasting barflies of Moe’s Tavern, as they recount their close encounter with marauding beasts as members of the Springfield Bear Patrol. And Sergio Aragonés joins the fun with a story from his own past of how he made his first peso as an underground and underage artist. THEN, flip over the book for two of the swimmingest SpongeBob sagas from the series’ hard-to-find earliest issues. In “Squidward and the Golden Clarinet,” SpongeBob reads an issue of Mermaid Man to a less-than-welcoming Squidward. But this story has a musical hook even Squidward can’t resist. Plus: a page of gags that go off the deep end by indie artiste James Kochalka.
