My best internet friend told me that the Comic Book Guy series will be 5 issues, not three.

That's been known for quite a while and mentioned several times in this topic, Debbs.

For anyone who hasn't explored that guide previously, in addition to documenting all the US comics, it includes 1) multiple indexes to every Radioactive Man comic, including all the references to those not "reprinted" and an explanation to all the Faux letters 2) an index to all the back covers, 3) an index to all the I&S Stories, 4) an index to all the fan mail and drawings by fan last name and 5) all the "Meet the Artists" sections transcribed. Lastly, comic reprints are precisely detailed from each *story* to the places where they have been reprinted, and the book list has a corresponding detail showing the source of each story / faux advertisement. Suggestions, corrections, questions and complaints are all welcome. Thanks!
I was looking through this guide a few weeks ago and there was one thing I was going to email about - for Bart Simpson #49 the guide says that the last two stories had a misspelled credit to 'Mark Hammill'. It's actually credited to Nathan (checked in my US direct edition from August 09).

Does anyone know if Bongo actually hired anyone after making that thread about looking for artists?
So I got that crossover crisis book thing for my Birthday yesterday. Anyone else think it is truly fantastic? I love all the artwork and extra stuff and the whole thing is just beautifully done. Really happy with it.

Very well done, and released by Abrams ComicsArts, instead of Harper/Bongo/Titan/etc with, of course, a price to match (although it's now being discounted, down to 16.47 on Amazon.) It includes the four Simpsons/Futurama Crossover issues, of course, Simpsons #87 and new stuff, all of which we itemized;
Contents Pages Contents
New Material 2 Introduction by Matt Groening
Futurama Simpsons #1 25 Chapter 1: Somewhere Over The Brain-bow!
Futurama Simpsons #2 25 Chapter 2: Liquid Diamond is Forever!
Simpsons Comics #87 27 Hail to the Cat
Simpsons Comics #87 1 Who's Who in the New Revolutionary War?
Simpsons Futurama #1 29 Chapter 3: Slaves of New New York!
Simpsons Futurama #2 27 Chapter 4: The Read Menace!

Simpsons Comics #87 1 Simpsons Comics #87 - Cover Art
New Material 26 Rough Stuff: Thumbnail layouts, rough layouts
New Material 17 The Simpsons/Fut Masterpiece Gallery
Simpsons Comics #1 Reprint of Simpsons Comics #1
Depending on how this sells I suspect they will consider additional high-end reprint volumes. Do people think this was worth it, or would they have preferred the usual reprint volumes?

Apologies, intended to preview that previous post, not post that, to see if it formatted correctly, which it didn't. Guess I'll just link to it;

Good news everyone! The website bongocomics.com is active again.

The masthead on Simpsons Comics #169 shows a new intern: Abe Groening.
Like father, like son.

must be because he has tons of experience being a comic strip character![]()

Also, there's giant one-page ads in the latest issues announcing that Junk Mail is making a return. No longer can I flaunt the fact that I had the last letter ever published in the US comics (#113, December 2005).
I'm only just getting into reading the latest batch of comics I've picked up, but a couple notes; the black-light poster in Futurama #50, while just ripped from the cover of the Time Bender Trilogy paperback, looks wonderful. Also, the new paper they're printing on (even glossier than before) makes everything really pop off the page.

...and since there was only one letter in that issue, that rather distinctly identifies a letter from "Australia via -Email". Which leads to a question I've been meaning to ask, anyone else have art or letters published in Bongo Comics? I've attempted to extend your 15 seconds of fame by indexing all the names of everyone who had art or letters printed here;
http://www.snpp.com/guides/comics_fans.html
Will be adding Simpsons Illustrated letters to that soon! ...and eventually Futurama.
Bruce
Ha yeah that's me, I picked up some US issues in mid-2005 (and been getting them ever since) and saw the email address, so thought I'd email them. In retrospect it's a terrible letter, but hey, apparently I'm their first comic book ambassador
I also had a picture printed in the Australian version of #95 which is even more embarrassing.
Well I don't know about anyone else but I'm enjoying the CBG mini series so far. It's a bit stupid at times but generally it's been funner than the norm.

I definitely agree. I'm really enjoying the CBG series. The jokes are really good and I love all of the references they've thrown in.
Meh; I knew there'd be references.
Seriously, though, what's it like?

Thanks to CousinMerl for this great sig!
It's...a story about nerds and their reaction to CBG "dying". Hijinks ensue. Not much more to say really.
I don't know if anyone's picked it up yet but this year's Treehouse of Horror was great. Gotta say that the first story in particular was really brutal. It's basically one big excuse to kill as much of the entire cast (including Homer, but sans Bart who gets it in another story anyways, and two others.) in as gory and brutal a way as possible. There's just bodies, dismembered parts, and blood everywhere in the ruined streets by the last pages of it. It's definitely something they could never do in the tv series even in its best years.
The rest of it similarly surrealistically disturbing. It's not the almost Enter-the-Void esque acid trip that was last years' Treehouse or Willie serving Marge up like a dinner-Turkey to Homer but it's disturbing in its own, more straightforward ways. I gotta say that Bongo's Treehouses have been getting progressively crazier and more unafraid to indulge in utter gore or surrealism the past few years, and I think it's great I'd check it out. I mean, where else are you gonna get the proper Treehouse of Horror for this year? The heh, tv series?![]()
Thanks for telling me about that; I'll have to take a look at that one, especially after that 30 days story we had about a year or two ago (I'm assuming it's gorier than that, right?). I'm not sure how I feel about that sort of thing; I'm no stranger to gore in comics, but it can be either really good or really bad.
We're getting the acid trip THOH over here in the UK. I'm looking forward to reading it.

Just returned from the local comic shop, and what a mighty haul!
THOH #16 has trading cards!
Futurama #51 has another poster!
CBG #3 has... a comic book!
Looking forward to reading these.![]()
UP AND ATOM!

Anybody notice the past 2 issues of Futurama with the "Black Light" poster inserts arrive damaged and dinged on the spines of the book?
Like they cram the poster in there there while bending up the books.....
Can't find a mint copy yet...
Oh yes, in CBG #3 Bart crushes Lovejoy's love for model trains. Made me laugh.![]()
Lovejoy tries to show Bart how exciting a hobby trains can be, and Bart points out how unexciting it is. Lovejoy has no excuse but to agree with Bart and so he throws away his trains while angerly telling Bart the next time he stops by it will be Bible-related.
I have totally ruined the scene in writing it out, but it did make me smile...
WHICH IS MORE THAN THE SEASON PREMIERE DID!
Kinda weird for Bart to see Lovejoy in the first place, bible-related or otherwise. It's also a bit OOC for him to throw his trains out, but who gives a damn?
I've gotta say, that made me smile too.
Lovejoy, you'll enjoy CBG's death in the latest THOH issue.![]()
