I am never buying another copy of the Australian edition of Bart Simpson, it's getting beyond a joke. When they first started releasing them here, they'd put an issue of Radioactive Man in the middle as a "bonus" feature; by issue #20 they ran out of RM stories so they put two Bart issues together(so #20 had US #20 and #21; #21 had US #22 and #23, etc). Now, when #23 came out (which was US #26), they decided to reprint old RM stories again. Luckily #24 (US #27 and #28) didn't do this. HOWEVER, with #25 they have included US #29 and reprints from the first Simpsons Super Spectacular (the Pieman story in that has been released for the third time in two years now). They also cut out the brilliant one-page Worker and Parasite story that was in the original Bart #29 (an interesting thing to add is the cover states there are 6 stories in it, though the advertisement says 7, as if they cut the W&P story at the last minute). AND they go and include a Simpsons Movie poster that's already available in Simpsons #129 and #132. It's pathetic, and a huge waste of money.

At the end of the year i was thinking of opening a "2007 best of bongo" Thread. basically people vote for the best issue of a series and the best of all the none comic publications made by bongo like like the poster book and the simpsons handbook etc.

    for example
best simpsons comics issue of 2007
best bart simosns comics issue of 2007
    etc. etc.

    What do you think?

Thanks for the info, Ivan, I think I'll have to get this. Were the Futurama/Simpson crossover comics any good?

    They were alright;

The second crossover was my favourite of the two (although Crossover II Part 2 is the worst of the four issues, Part 1 is good enough to redeem it). The second one has more ways to go with the story since that's the one set in NNY. While the first one is good as well, I personally didn't like the story too much.

I like the idea that they're making new material to add onto the second crossover, and that they're making the story alluded to in Part 1 of the second crossover. And Simpsons #87, which will be in it too, is one of my favourite issues.

I would have loved to have seen a comic covering the adventure the Planet Express/Simpsons have in looking for the other Springfielders around the galaxy. Maybe they'll add it in, I'll have to check it out because I always thought the second crossover could be longer too.

Thanks, Ivan! I definitely will have to get it, especially since #87 is in it, which apparently is very good.

Thanks for the info. I'm in the middle of updating the Australian page at the moment and left it until last due to the fact that we actually have the largest number of Simpsons and related comics out of all the other countries in the world. This is due largely to the fact that Otter rereleased everything that Treille had printed (Simpsons 1-31,RM1-6,Krusty1-3,I&S 1-4, Lisa etc), and then went out and started re releasing these angain, and again. Not to forget rereleases in digest size and the recent rereleases in normal size of the comics that they originally released in digest size.

Yeah, I enjoyed the first half of the story but like usual Costanza's artwork wasn't very good. The second half was just a huge "WTF" fest, ESPECIALLY the artwork. Marge and Lisa (especially Marge) are relatively skinny, so how the hell they could have lost heaps of weight too is beyond me...it doesn't even look like any effort was put into the art for those pages, either.

Bart #29 was fairly good, I guess. Don't like what they did with the layout, though (all the shorter stories start in an identical manner).

Super Spectacular #6 was outstanding; artwork aside (which was slightly off model but still very good), it was very fun.

Though I don't like how Bongo is suddenly plastering Matt Groening's signature over the artwork itself (bottom left hand corner of page 1 in Simpsons #137). I like it when they just do the "Matt Groening presents" thing above the title...

Also did anyone notice Chris from Family guy in the back round at the comic-con in Super Spectacular #6?

I just read #138. Pretty wacky, but I still enjoyed it.

i read Simpsons Comics 137 (US). Dear GOD, was that horrible!!! I bet anyone on this thread could write a better story than that. Like Ivan, said the second part made me go WTF?? I mean radioactivity making people skinny and Cletus trying to eat Homer. I thought Homer would wake up and notice it was dream. Nope. It was real. Worst. issue of Simpsons Comics. Ever.

The Ralph one was definitely the best and its not just because he's favorite character. It was a genuinly enjoyable story with a smelly hobo named Fred (Ralphie runs into those a lot doesn't he?). I really liked how they wrote him more naive than just cardboard flat stupid, which is boring. They even threw a little bone for you in the end with him tricking the bully trio(Did he know they were going to spy on him in the house or did it begin later? Whoa.). Generally this, the show, and even the game's been throwing Ralph back to how he originally was a little more, I'm liking it.

bart simpson 38's ralph learns a lesson, my favorite ralph comic to date, it's so fun and the art its good and you get to see ralph interacting with characters he barely ever interacts with, the bullies. ralph getting tricked because of his naivety it's such a simple and brilliant idea really the comics do a better job of fullfilling my dailly ralph requirment than the series does.
also in the milhouse one i love the pic of milhouse looking cool on a girly bike it's just so milhouse XD

I thought the art for #137 started really well (esp Homer and Marge on page 1), but sort of decreased in quality later...the 'thin' townsfolk looked disturbing, ESPECIALLY the rest of the family. *shudder* I have to admit, though...I do like the way Costanza draws Homer's expressions.

As for the story, it was almost as crazy as that one where Homer gets the spider bite and becomes really smart, I detested that one. This story started really well and was pretty funny, with Homer trying to stick to the diet, but I don't know what Dixon was thinking with the whole townsfolk becoming thin for some bizarre reason and then becoming normal again because of some unlikely deus ex machina ending. eh...I'll probably go with a C or something.

    A tribute to Bart Simpson

You think THAT's bad? What about that time when I was turned into a Tetris block?

Simpsons Comics #138 was alright, not really anything special and I didn't like certain things of the plot (namely just a specific panel)...art was good, though.

    B-

Also got Futurama Conquers the Universe; there's an original (ie: non-reprint) story drawn by Mike Kazaleh and inked by Mike Rote, they really need to let Rote ink all of Kazaleh's work as the art actually looked great and completely on model throughout.

    Europe goes paperback

France is now the next country after Italy to only be releasing the paperbacks after stopping the publication of Simpsons comics last year.

Panini WAS doing the publishing in both countries . Rizzoli is now publishing the paperbacks in Italy, and Jungle in France.

Czech Republic and Finland also get their Simpsons fix via paperback.

The UK, Germany and Russia are now the only countries to be still publishing the comics in Europe

Spain may also still be doing it but I am not 100% sure. I know that most of the releases there lately have actually been in Hardback.

    Yeh I forgot about Serbia.

I'm also not sure about the Netherlands as they seem to get a new publisher every couple of issues.

The comic is great for once in a while giving a secondary character a real nice bit of spotlight, since it's not as restricted as the series to have to use the Simpsons themselves. Ralph's had some great moments in there, some real bad ones too though but the comic's like a gamble. You get either really bad, or pretty good. Still wish it would go a little further with some things like I said a few pages ago but anyways..

Haven't done this in a while, but 139 was great so I think it deserves it. It was one of the issues of this comic that had a very oldschool-feel to it. Especially Homer in this, even if this is essentially a Homer tries to get rich quick story he's so lovable in this that you can look past that. (he even has a lot of butt-crack shots like they used to show all the time, lol)The whole thing was just very nicely written, it felt rather long even though it wasn't much longer than the average issue. I think that's a good thing, because it means it told something and everything was wrapped up nicely. It was even low on groan humor. Art was nice too, it was a little straightforward (two boxes on every page) but I kinda liked that. It was organized. Art wise nothing to complain about. No characters were written badly, it's just pleasant. No big satire or anything but that's tough to get through with the comic so no biggie.

My one gripe is the end was a little vague, but it's not hard to get. Kind of amusing how Wiggum in this actually tried to be more useful than Eddie and Lou this time. Kwan made a decent short lived badguy too.
