^Still haven't got it, however I've been posting that it sucks since...well...everyone knows it will and does I should definitely have it by Wednesday week.

Kiyosuki, can you please give us a synopsis on what actually happens in Simpsons Family Robinson?

Well thats an absolutely great comment, Zim999. It could be Comic Book Guy just as easily that it could be the Crazy fucking Cat Lady.

No, which is a good thing I guess. The only Bongo product she has appeared in is The Ralph Wiggum Book, where she is among one of Ralph's "20 types of adults".

There's no way I'm buying that piece of shit. lol Even I have my limits.

    From what I can remember...,

-OFF+Frink get on boat, go joy riding. Shit happens, boat wrecks and ends up on deserted island.
-OFF+Frink try to figure out a way to get off, shit happens. They fail
-Frink builds house out of debriis with full functioning everything. You know the SFR deal.
-Everyone tries to start a new life, but long story short...everyone slowly goes crazy. Frink dissapears. OFF realizes the nearest town was actually behind the island the whole time and they skip across a like...creek to get there.

May not be 100% accurate but like I said, I'm not buying this thing. :silly:
Its basically Swiss Family Robinson...but bad. Just imagine a comic with an incredible amount of groan worthy material stuffed into it, as much as you can possibly fit into a comic book without becoming detrimental to the health and you get 127.

I usually don't mind these kinds of stories so much, but we've gotten them so much in a row lately its just getting tiring. And this one wasn't even really cute at all, it was probably the most uninspired I've seen the comic crank out.

How is two of these types of issues in a row tiring? It's the first time in over three years that we've even had a "Simpsons dress up as historical figures" type issue. It's nowhere near as bad as the 18 issues where five or six of them were trilogies (between #61 and #82: #62, #70, #76, #79, #81). Then there's also #75, #80 and #105 which I refer to as "original" trilogies, because they're more along the lines of just three shorter Simpsons stories. Regardless of what type of overall trilogy they are, we got SEVEN of them between #62 and #82, and then 2 more trilogies and one "dress up" story in the next 45 issues isn't much.

Agreed. I still like the Shakespeare issue, for instance. That said, I don't like the idea of Simpsons Family Robinson either.

Thanks to CousinMerl for this great sig!

It has much to do with the fact I thought this issue was just really kind of flat and uninspired. I thought it was boring. I don't hate all the storytime issues, I enjoyed the Shakespeare play one and last month's had some groan worthy stuff too but it had some fun moments as well. I can enjoy it for what it is, but it still has to hold my interest. This month's was just a real low point in my mind.

The Crazy old Cat Lady appered in Simpsons Winter Wingding when Santa was going over letters.
Also I heard last year that the re-print of the crossovers was going to out last June or July was that a mistake?

Well, the release date keeps changing -- it was originally going to be a couple years ago, then two months or so after The Time Bender Trilogy reprint...which passed almost a year ago. It'd still be a year or so, at least.

Yeah, I remember someone at Simpsons Collector Sector posting a link to it; however, thanks for the high quality image. It looks nice...even though the image is stolen off Radioactive Man #100 and just replaced with a different comic in the paws of CBG.

LOL at Homer on the cover of #129. Thanks for those Tom (promise I won't steal them), however, may I ask, how do you get the previews of the backs of the paperbacks?

Wow, look who got on the cover of the free comic book... ;-/

I bought a copy of Beach Blanket Bongo a few days ago. It's actually quite good, my favourite story was 'See Homer Run'. What seems interesting is how it doesn't have a forward, while all the other books in that style do.

i like the story when all the people in springfield dress exactly the same as the simpsons family

and i think the pardoy cover of issue 4 is really creative

They've been extremely lazy this time round- recycling exactly the same art from this comic:
    I thought I recognised it!

    A tribute to Bart Simpson

You think THAT's bad? What about that time when I was turned into a Tetris block?

CBG is on the cover of all the free comics.

About Beach Blanket Bongo -- do all the UK paperbacks (apart from this one) have a forward in them? Because the US ones don't (they stopped doing them after Simps-o-rama in 1996).

Well, some of them do (the treehouse of horror ones, for instance) but I don't think they happen very often anymore.

    Sorry I can't say.

I've just added the finished artwork for the free comic book day release to my site.
Its very similar to whats pictured above, just coloured differently.

Yeah, at the moment I think it's only the THOH ones and the specials (eg: Holiday Humdinger).

#127 is CRAP. Not one funny moment in it and the whole Swiss Family Robinson thing was really crappy. This has to be one of the worst issues.

I'm looking forward to #128 though. Looks like it could be a good story.

Checked http://silverbulletcomicbooks.com the other day, they five #127 FOUR out of FIVE stars. Ugh. They also give #74 (my second least favourite issue) four or five stars too. They deserve 1.

    Damn...

To each their own I guess, but I still think 127 is the comic's lowest point.

I got Bart Simpson #34 and its pretty good. It definitely makes up for the epic fail of Simpsons #127 for me.

First story was pretty alright. Lots of Krabappel, who's generally pretty ignored as a character. Lots of great moments from her, Bart, and a pretty funny moment with Ralph. Its a "Character is fucked, moves in with Simpsons" cliche story, which is sorta...eh. But when you get past that its decent.

Second was weird and a little out there but I thought it was fun, just because I find Willie hilarious in general. Its another kind of cliche story (Its a Beattles parody.) but its decent.

The third part is my favorite of the three. Its more a Homer story than Bart story, although it has an amusing beggining with both of them. Basically, Homer tries to cook..seriously and of course he kind of fucks up. But while he kind of borderlines on Craziness Homer a bit in the story, it never gets out of control.

All and all its not the greatest the comic has offered but its not a bad read. Makes up for 127 at least.

The new compilation, Beach Blanket Bongo came out recently too. It has a great collection of comic stories...I've never read a lot of the ones in this one. The story with Cecil trying to come out of Bob's shadow, this sort of cool story about Jimbo's past and this amusing little story about Sideshow Mel's background are my favorites in it. But in general its a good compilation I think.

Is the new Bart better than #33? 'Coz #33 felt like just a bunch of characters doing things -- with (un)hilarious results.

I'm gonna get Beach Blanket Bongo even though the six issues in it are ones that I've read to death (these six are the first issues I ever got, hence the reason they've been read so much).

They're still good comics though. I hadn't read a bunch of these.

Yes, it is better than 33. Much better. I'm not going to say its the greatest ever or that its of particular quality exactly but it was..pleasant.

Indeed they are. The low point of them for me is #74 (see above), however #71 and #73 are two of my favourites (and the remaining three issues are all above C+ quality).

  27. #717

74 is the one with Doctor Krusty right? I didn't think it was that bad, although its the weakest in this book. I like the overall idea, it sort of fizzled out though.

I lol'ed at Otaku CBG in 73. Further proof he's one of the most freighteningly accurate caricatures of crazed fans there is.

My favourite panel in that story is on the second last page (I think) when CBG is trying to look sad while he has his outfit on :P

The main reason I dislike #74 is some of the story is weak, and because it has what I believe is the worst art in any comic. John Costanza. Need I say more? Look at Lisa when she tries to eat the French toast. How big do her damn eyes need to be?

I liked the quip Frink makes about the Batman nipples. lol

I can see the thing with the eyes, and the proportions are often kind of off a bit. I've seen the comic do much, much worse though. At least this one looked pretty good in the beggining.

Thinking about it, the only Costanza stories I thought had nice art was in Bart #32, as well as Simpsons #99 and #119, and to a lesser extent #116. Disliked all his other stuff.

I take back what I said about the art in 74 thought -- it's now my second least favourite. The worst for me goes to #12. Not so much the art but moreso the colouring, which makes the art look a lot worse (Homer's pant cuffs are coloured yellow for a while, Marge obtains a dress that can't decide whether it wants to be green or pink, and when people have closed eyelids the colourer (Electric Crayon, I believe) has just totally looked over colouring part of their eyes (so it looks like a half open eye with no pupil in it. Awful.
