Well, I've finally found some people more biased than myself, and they work at Simpsons Comics HQ. Seriously, why not just rename it 'Comic Book Guy comics', and leave it at that? This latest issue is only prooving my theory.

Thanks to CousinMerl for this great sig!

My favorite collection book is The Simpsons MADNESS

My favorite story is the Smithers Clone story
    Quote of the week:

"I take a whiskey drink, I take a chocolate drink, and when I have to pee, I use the kitchen sink! I sing the song that reminds me I'm a urinating guy." -Homer Simpson (singing "Tubthumping")

See y'all in Yankee Stadium in real life.... maybe in 2016

Fact: that's not the right cover...well technically it DOES say #118, it has the same cover as #119 (for June 2006). The real cover has been released in just one promo, which shows the men of Springfield sky-diving.

i've fixed the shot so ivan's post might look strange.

how strange though. the burns and homer cover was featured in a few of the previews as both the cover for 118 and 119. here's an interesting one:

http://www.bobscomics.com/Current_1.cfm?IDA=7&MyID=0 has both 118 and 119 listed, and both feature the same cover, except for the issue number. and one's a little lighter.

    And who is that...

I recently checked out Bart Simpson 29. I thought it was pretty nice, the little sub story with Bart and Nelson was particularly fun. The little short story with Ralph and Wiggum was really sweet.

The first story was pretty nice too, I think the guys at Bongo are the only ones that can properly write Ralph now. Some of the little jokes and comments in it were actually really funny I thought too.

The Worker and Parasite one page short was just so wrong. But its clever because I've lost count of how many eastern european cartoons I've seen with this sort of abstract style. Its awsome yeah, but still its fun to see it get poked at a bit.

This next Simpsons issue deals with the lonly men of Springfield so it could be really funny.

I also can't wait for the new Treehouse collection, only so I can see some of the stories drawn in a different style than usual. Some of them are really fun to look at, but I'm personally a sucker for different artists' interpretations.

How's does bongo's (simpsons related) comics work?
I mean how frequently do they go out? How does the reprints work?
Should I buy the comics? Or wait for the reprint?

    BTW I'm new here...

Don't wait for the reprints. The newest issue (#118) won't be out in reprint for 5-6 years still. Simpsons Comics come out every month, with Bart Simpson every 2 months. Futurama comes out every 3. Every 4-6 months Simpsons Super Spectacular comes out. Simpsons Classics are every 3 months. Treehouse of Horror comes out every September. There is only one trade paperback a year, with six issues (the 2006 paperback, Simpsons Comics Jam Packed Jamboree has issues #64-#69, which shows how long it will be until the latest issues will be reprinted). There is also a new Bart Simpson reprint (Big Bouncy Book of Bart Simpson) and Futurama reprint (Futurama: The Time Bender Trilogy) every year too. Every few years the new THOH paperback comes out. There is going to be one in September, called The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Hoodoo Voodoo Brouhaha. Also, as an added treat, we finally get the Simpsons/Futurama crossovers trade paperback.

Theoretically, which comics would be together in a reprint?

Theoretically, which comics would be together in a reprint?
    normally they're in order.

Yeah, next book should be #70-#75...but IMO it will be #71-#77. Since they left #62 out of "Barn Burner" methinks they're going to make a fantasy story book like what they did with "Holiday Humdinger", with issues #62, #70, #76 and #81.

  16. #286

I meant on the comics who just went out...
Like #118 would it be with #117 or does it start a new reprint?
Should I buy the classics or the reprints?

Well we don't know what comics will be left out of the reprints. The way I would have it if I made them would be:

    2007 reprint:
    Simpsons #71, #72, #73, #74, #75, #77

    2008 reprint:
    Simpsons #78, #80, #82, #83, #84, #85

    2009 reprint:
    Simpsons #86, #88, #89, #90, #91, #92

    2010 reprint:
    Simpsons #93, #94, #95, #96, #97, #98

    2011 reprint:
    Simpsons #99, #101, #102, #103, #104, #105

    2012 reprint:
    Simpsons #106, #107, #108, #109, #110, #111

    2013 reprint:
    Simpsons #112, #113, #114, #115, #116, #117

Ooh...you're in luck. With the ones I've put in them #118 starts a new book!
    2014 reprint:
    Simpsons #118, #119, #120, #121, #122, #123

See, there's still about EIGHT years until the new issues will be out in reprints.

Also, I have excluded #70, #76, #81 (could be a fantasy themed book with #62), have left out #79 (Simpsons Holiday Humdinger), and #87 (coming out soon in Simpsons/Futurama Crossover Crisis TPB).

    Hope this helps.

  18. #288

    Wow I'm lucky...
What 'bout my other question? Should I buy the classics or the reprints (I bought already classics #7).

I honestly don't like Simpsons Comics anymore. They went downhill years ago. I by the special issues, like the Superheros, or sometimes Bart, and even the new reprints. The art is Simpsons Comics is strange too, whatever pen their using to ink the characters. I don't like it.

The inks I don't like are the calligraphy ones, which shows the line thicker in places and really thin in others. Mike DeCarlo uses that. If you ever want an issue that has good art, get one that is at least inked by Phyllis Novin or Mike Rote.

    OK, now for Otto-Man & Bart-Dude's question.

Personally, I'd buy the reprints. Here in Australia our Simpsons Classics are in a "digest" size book. I got #7 in the US version, and it seemed strange having it in an oversized magazine format. The only problem is, if you want the older issues (#1-#35), it would be easier to get them in Classics, because they were in reprints from around a decade ago.

  22. #292

    O.K. thanks...
    I'll stick with the reprints...
Now, is it sure that #108 will start a new reprint?

You mean #118 don't you? The newest issue? It should, yes, but you would be waiting about eight years to get the reprint.

  24. #294

    Yeah I meant #118...
K, so from now on I'll buy the comics!
Oh, do you know if someone here's from Israel?

What, like another member or someone?

    I dunno sorry.

Quick question...not sure about the US but in Australia we don't get our comics in bags. Mine seem to get dog eared and damaged pretty easily, even from just sitting on a table basically. Anyone know how to stop this from happening without bagging them?

    Simpsons Comics rule

i'm a massive Simpsons Comics fan,
i started at issue 100 and have gotten each since,

though they shouldn't have kept the letters page,
that was a nice addition to the comic,

i hope they return it soon,

    Do you mean SHOULD?

There's little to no chance of Junk Mail returning. Bongo needs the money that they receive from printing those extra ads for bigger companies. And while they're printing those ads and making money, there's simply no room for a letters page. It's either have ads and have the comics, or have Junk Mail and let Bongo end up going broke.

  28. #298

yes, i meant should have kept,
i know Bongo do need revenue from ads though they could at least devote 1 page or so for letters,
they did so for 100+ issues

Its the way the comic componies do business. Every comic book I read doesnt have a letter page but they used to. Paper to print it is getting expensive and they need ad revenue to continue not just Simpsons Comics but Bongo Comics as a whole

I can't find it, but I know a few pages back we were talking about how the Simpsons TV show has started taking ideas from the comics:

#8 "I Shrink Therefore I'm Small" (1995)-- reused in a THOH segment "In The Belly of the Boss" (2004/05?)
#17 "What's The Frequency Simpson" (1996)-- idea reused for "Girly Edition" (1998)
#27 "They Saved Homer's Brain!" (1997)-- total reuse in "HOMR" (2001)
#45 "Hamburger's Little Helper" (1999)-- idea of SLH divorcing the Simpsons reused in "Old Yeller-Belly" (2003)
#53 "The Beer Boys" (2000)-- Moe's regulars opening their own bar reused for "Homer The Moe" (2001)
#58 "Mayor Me A Little" (2001)-- Homer running for me reused for "See Homer Run" (2005)

THESE IDEAS HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM THE TV SHOW:
#59 "Faking The Band" (2001) -- same concept as "New Kids On The Blecch" from earlier that year. The comic version is a bit different, and a bit better.
#62 "Bart Simpson's Bible Stories" (2002) -- basically the same as the "Simpsons Bible Stories" (1999) episode, but with different Bible stories.
#94 "24/7th Heaven" (2004) -- a slightly differed retelling of "'Scuse Me While I Miss The Sky" (2003). The comic version is very bad.
