Not totally. I remember desperately wanting this issue, but it had to be put off as I was going on holiday for two weeks. When I got it, I was terribly disappointed, you know why? Because, although it was the same as Simpsons Bible stories, there was one difference that really pissed me off:

    "The church is closed!"

Just remembering the annoyance of this.

Thanks to CousinMerl for this great sig!

I get all of them except the Futurama ones, which are harder to find where I live. I wouldn't say they're all good comics, though.

yeah...they do those "simpsons roleplaying trilogy" comics all the time, worse than the show the 'dr. nick's clinic' stories issue came out here last month...i wouldn't complain if we got one a year and they were workable, standard themes, so same complaints about the show's trilogies...

picked up the simpsons super spectacular today out of interest. it was a little better than the normal comic, but still pretty bad.

oh, and i do wish they'd give away decent free gifts for once.

Well, I'm impressed with this issue of the UK simpsons comic. I actually counted the Lovejoys in there 7 times instead of the usual 1 time! What a nice change!

Anyone else got the latest issue? (They're even on the cover! )

I thought the story in that was much better than the craptacular "Simpsons the Musical", which I wouldn't even consider having a plot in it. Good news UK people: the next three issues ("Big House Homer", "Now Museum Now You Dont" and "Bad News Bearer") are pretty good ones. Also, to a lesser extent I enjoyed the two after that ("Know It All In The Family" and "Spin Off Showcase Comics Cavalcade, which are the US/Aus comics #111 and #112). Our #113, Little Orphan Bart (which had my letter in it ) was pretty crap, but #114 (Ring A Ding Springfield) and #115 (Clown Therapy / Vertigoareeno) were excellent issues.

i recieved a US copy of 'little orphan bart' and liked it better than some, whilst i didn't think 'simpsons the musical' was awful, but just...there.

haven't picked up the latest UK edition yet but I've seen it in supermarkets. how is that free mini basketball game thing it comes with simpsons-related in any way?

I have no idea...it's like the new Futurama issue in the UK came with (as Tom from Planet Bongo Comics said) "an alien pen that has absolutely nothing to do with Futurama!!"

i suppose it would require more effort than putting the words "SIMPSONS COMICS" on, like with the kite and beachball.

    Yeah.

What are the UK comics like, anyway? Like, with the different format compared to the US ones?

I have the US and Asutralian versions of Simpsons Comics #115. The US one is on the left and the Aus one is on the right. You can tell how much glossier the Aus cover is by how much the flash has affected it. Also, the cover is much thicker than the US ones. The only layout differences between both is in fact the cover designs. We still use the little black bar in the left hand corner that was on the US issues #75-#106, while the US #115 has the Bongo logo in the bottom right hand corner. Also, the Simpsons logo and "Hot Fun In The Winter Time!" is smaller on the Aus one. That's basically the only major layout difference. The colours are much duller inside the US one, but you can't really tell from the photographs, so I havent included those in this post.

The UK ones are quite bigger than the US ones (can't find a comparison picture). We don't get Lisa Comics, Krusty Comics, Bartman Comics or so on, only Simpsons Comics, Best of Simpsons Comics and the Bart Simpson ones. The comics from the ones we don't get eventually appear in Simpsons Comics.

the german issue has the number 117
that included junk mail and many other information like indirectnesses etc.
    the worst person ever

over 1500 simpsons comics from 14 countries

Here, Otter Press (the people who publish the Australian ones), reprint the Bartman, Krusty, Lisa, and Itchy and Scratchy Comics every 3 or so years. In fact, right now, they're all available with a cover based on the design of the Best Of The Simpsons issues.

Right now we have these available at the shops:

    Simpsons Comics #115
    Bart Simpson #19
    Futurama #19
    Simpsons Classics #6
    Best of the Simpsons #39
    Best of Bart Simpson #5
    Itchy and Scratchy #2
    Lisa Comics #1
    Krusty Comics #3
    Bartman #4
    Futurama Collector's #1/#2

And just a little side not on our Best of the Simpsons. I understand the UK ones usually have two older Simpsons issues in one issue of Best of the Simpsons...is that right? Here, we only have one old comic in every issue (so our #39 is actually just a reprint of Simpsons Comics #39 with cover art based on what they look like in the UK). But we didn't start with issue #1 for our Best of the Simpsons series, we started at #32, because that was the first proper Simpsons Comics issue published in Australia (back in 1998), so we've actually only been getting this series for 10 months right now (at first they came out every month like the regular issues, then it changed to every 2 months with #38).

    EDIT:
You know how each issue of Bart Simpson comics has it's own different 'title'? (Rabble Rouser, Cartoon Genius, Thriller Diller, etc)? I just realized they've mucked up with issue #30 -- they've called it "Boy of Mystery", even though that's exactly what they called issue #7!

I did this editorial on my site yesterday, about the current condition of the collector's edition comics in Australia. http://thesimpsonssector.tripod.com/editorial.html

Simpsons Comics #70 -- my friend started at Simpsons Comics #57.

The first one I read was one of my other friends, Simpsons Summer Special #1, about a year before I got my first issue, and it didn't even strike me that there was a Simpsons Comics series when I read. "Hmm, probably a once off book."

  22. #322

Bart Simpsons #30 was pretty decent.

The first story with the kids and the locamotive had a very season 3-ish vibe to it. I enjoyed it a lot.

I liked Bart #30. The best story was the locamotive.

Yeah, it's two old issues in one, with the exception of when they covered the (extremely surreal) When Bongos Collide comic, which was even larger. Right now BotS is up to 'The Beer Boys' (which finished off the most recent issue).

I quite like that cover for the latest Bart Simpson comics...very simple. Of course, we won't get that for a while, we're up to 'Boy Barber'.

And do the Australian comics give out those two-page posters of the episode's cover every issue too?

Nope, that's the bad thing: we don't get any of the free stuff that the UK gets, but when the US has an offer (a poster in #113, free door hangers in #119), we don't get them either!

And this is the schedule for this year if every comic is released when it's supposed to (theres no point to this apart from it may interest others):

    2006
January Simpsons Comics #110; Best of the Simpsons #36; Bart Simpson #17; Krusty Comics #1; Bartman #1; Itchy and Scratchy #1
February Simpsons Comics #111; Radioactive Man #1; Best of the Simpsons #37; Best of Bart Simpson #3; Futurama Comics #17
March Simpsons Comics #112; Best of the Simpsons #38; Simpsons Classics #5; Simpsons Comics Extravaganza Reprint
April Simpsons Comics #113; Futurama Collector's #1/#2, Futurama Comics #18; Best of Bart Simpson #4; Bart Simpson #18; Krusty Comics #2; Bartman #2; Itchy and Scratchy #2*; Simpsons Super Spectacular #2
May Simpsons Comics #114; Best of the Simpsons #39**; Radioactive Man #88; Simpsons Comics Spectacular Reprint
June Simpsons Comics #115; Best of Bart Simpson #5; Simpsons Classics #6
July Simpsons Comics #116; Best of the Simpsons #40; Bart Simpson #19; Bartman #4***; Krusty Comics #3; Lisa Comics #1
August Simpsons Comics #117; Best of Bart Simpson #6; Radioactive Man #216; Simpsons Comics Simps-o-rama Reprint
September Simpsons Comics #118; Best of the Simpsons #41; Simpsons Classics #7
October Simpsons Comics #119; Best of Bart Simpson #7; Bart Simpson #20; Bartman #5; Simpsons Super Spectacular #3
November Simpsons Comics #120; Best of the Simpsons #42; Radioactive Man #412; Simpsons Comics A Go-Go Reprint
December Simpsons Comics #121; Best of Bart Simpson #8; Simpsons Classics #8

*The last issue. #3 wasn't printed because it featured in When Bongos Collide.
**This is when it went from monthly to bimonthly.
***It skipped from issues #2 to #4 because #3 is in When Bongos Collide.

I take it that because your Best of the Simpson issues started from issue #1 (to our issue #32), that you guys don't get Simpsons Classics? I'd actually much rather they did BotS from the very start in the same style as the UK...they just look so much...neater. Our latest Bart Simpson issue was the "Little Devil" one (I think we're one issue behing the UK). I visit the Titan Magazines website regularly, to have a look at the new UK issues, and the cover for issue #18 on the site said "Double Oh-Heaven" or something. I thought that was pretty cool -- everywhere else it's called "Thriller Diller".

no, we don't get 'simpsons classics'.

i don't think we get most of the stuff the US gets (although we did get doorhangers at one point...do you have a picture of the US ones?), although the pathetic little gifts we get are exclusive to UK (not that anybody else would want them marring their comic's cover).

Yeah it won't be, you guys are almost a year behind. The "To Kill A Mocking Bart" issue was US issue #107.
