So this should be the first Season since 11 that premieres with a regular episode and not a THOH.

did you count that yourself? anyways, back on topic, their is a possibillity that a thoh could start the season, and yes it would be the first since season 11 if a thoh doesnt premiere it.Originally Posted by Homer_Thompson

I'm glad that the show is back to September premieres. I hated last year's scheduling what with the frequent repeats of the first 3 or 4 episodes then the hour-long blocks at the end of the season. I'd prefer the risk of the show being pre-empted by baseball then having last year's schedule.

I honestly think this whole thing is bullshit, i'll believe it when it actually happens.
If this is actually true, isn't it kind of wrong to do it on that particular day? September 11 is a day of mourning, it's only been 4 years. I think it's wrong to do the premiere on that day, very inapprioate.

Um... this is from Fox's official announcement. That's about as close as you can come, before the actual premiere date, to "when it actually happens."I honestly think this whole thing is bullshit, i'll believe it when it actually happens.

So, by your logic, it's inappropriate that ABC College Football, America's Most Wanted, COPS, Crossing Jordan, and The Apprentice aired last year on September 11th, and the networks should've just switched off their programing to "let everyone mourn 9/11". They shouldn't air new episodes, they can air reruns I suppose because obviously they have to air something, they can't have a blank channel for 24 hours.
And no, I don't live in America, but that doesn't matter. I still had friends who lost family members in that incident.

The September 11 thing is highly unintentional. It just happened to fall on a Sunday.
They surely won't be trying to connect the 2001 incidents to TV-show premieres, and shows have premiered on past September 11ths. There will surely be TV programs and live events on that day to mark the anniversary, but it doesn't mean that everyone has to watch them, and many people would like to forget about 2001.
It's a coincidence, and I'm sure a lot of other networks will be premiering shows on that date.

This is very good news - just under two months to go and it's only July! Maybe it's a sign that The Simpsons are returning to a classic status again after all the bad seasons that started with THOH's?
Season 10 and 11 didn't start with THOH and they were both bad.
And season 8 started with THOH and that was a great season.(and IMO the best season)
So what you said doesn't make much sense.

Yeah, but think of all those classic seasons that started in September, then stretched right through to May, unlike the shorter, worse seasons we got since S12. But, I agree that S10 and S11 were both bad. I'm just saying this could be a sign of better times ahead.
Knowing Fox, don't get your hopes up with anything people. There most likely just going to air that one episode on 9/11 and then not air another new episode until november 6.Originally Posted by Simpsons Forever!
So is it safe to assume this season will have 23 episodes, or do you think they'll just increase the number of holdovers from now on?
If baseball is still scheduled on Sundays then we'll probably get sporadic episodes through September and October.
About damn time we're back to September premieres, not to mention as early as this. I think I may be out of town that weekend, but even still, it's awesome.
Signature.

Unfortunately, after the first anniversary, many people began to simply treat it as just another day. The only thing I saw on TV about 9/11 on 9/11 was a brief news clip of people commenting on the anniversary.Oh, I never said it WAS intentional. I just find it odd that Fox will be doing the premiere on that day when there's 3 other sunday's in september.

this is great news...it's ridiculous to start the season in november. i guess fox got a wake up call when, at the end of last april, they'd only aired 15 episodes of the Simpsons. Hopefully this will be a much more even season, with not so many episodes bunched up together, like may was. and i hardly think it's disrespectful to air television on 9/11. It's called getting on with your lives.
Sorry if I go slightly OT but you can't just declare nothing ever happens on 9/11 ever again, in fact the best thing to show the terrorists is that, while you respect the people who died in the incident, life will still carry on as normal. Like with VE day, we remember the people who fought for us but life still has to go on. I can't see anything disrespectful about premiering new shows on that day myself.Originally Posted by beatles20147

STOP REUSING PLOTS!
Don't presume it may be that. How do we even know that Marge will be tempted, or that she will question her marriage? For all we know, the guy could be a stalker who Marge hates.
Yes, with Gervais writing there could be an interesting spin to the story

YAY! September! I hope they have a 25 episode season. They sure do have room for it.

So, I'm curious, did anyone here go/is anyone currently at Comic-Con? Because Matt Groening and co. would be talking about next season right now as I write this.

I searched Google news, but nothing came up about it. Shouldn't we have heard something by now?

Here's a new episode title. No writer listed though.
