Looks pretty good, although we'll probably still use the S16 thread for final rankings, like last year.

Yeah, that's true. Perhaps that thread can be renamed to something like "Season 16 in Retrospect" once the season ends?

Well, might as well start speculating:

GABF16 - The Girl Who Slept Too Little

Eh, not really looking forward to this one. There'll probably be some nice direction in the graveyard scenes, and Lisa's bad dreams should be good, but it doesn't seem like the kind of thing that deserves its own entire episode. Prove me wrong...John Frink.

GABF17 - Treehouse of Horror XVI

More info needed, but I'm starting to miss the days of having different writers for each segment.

GABF18 - The Bonfire of the Manatees

    Need infooooo....

GABF19 - Milhouse of Sand and Fog

Need info, but if its plot is anything like the movie that the title parodies, it should be interesting.

    GABF20 - Marge's Son Poisoning

Definately my most anticipated, as the Bart/Marge dynamic has so much untapped potential. And the angle with the bullies should provide a nice conflict.

    GABF21 - See Homer Run
Mayor Quimby faces a recall election, leaving Homer with the opportunity to run.

It could go either way. If it's a more general satire of politics, instead of a specific parody of the California recall, then it has potential, as long as it doesn't become a wacky Homer adventure/scheme.

GABF22 - Last of the Red Hot Mamas

    Sounds hot.

    GABF23 - Yellow Crush

OH, I stand corrected! This is by far my most anticipated episode. Marge as a surfer with a technologically advanced board? Limitless possibilities. I just hope Sean Penn plays her laid back rival well.

    HABF?? - My Fair Laddy

This sounds like it could be a nice story, perhaps doing for Willie what MBB did for Moe, making him a truly empathetic character.

HABF04 - The Sound of Syzlak

Lisa and Moe is an interesting pairing, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how she ends up getting him to let out his creative side.

    HABF?? - The Italian Bob

Eh, not really enough plot to judge, but it sounds a bit like Sideshow Bob Roberts now.

HABF02 - Homer Is Where the Heart Attack Is

I'm interested to see how they manage to distinguish this from "Bypass" and "Heartbroke".

    HABF10 - Homer Misnomered

This sounds really good, and it'll be nice to see how Homer reacts to this. Possibly there'll be some expansion on the Homer/Grandpa relationship.

All in all, I'm looking forward to it.

I know there was the other season 17 information thread, but this one is IMO better formatted, has more information, disclaimers, ect. Plus with only one week left, it seems pointless to close it, reopen it, and then sticky when it can just linger here for a week (plus it removes the temptation by someone else to start another season 17 thread). So unless there's any objections by the mods/admins, I vote this thread stays open, at least just for speculation right now.

Some of it is fairly accurate, some of if its wild speculation based on a bit of infomation and some of it is Vox being such a dity filthy liar it would make Jimbo disgusted.

The Italian Bob sounds awful. New episode in the Sideshow Bob legacy + vacation episode = terrible. Really not the way I would've liked for them to of gone with the Bob saga.

Italian Bob looks like it could go either way, hopefully there will be a return to Bob trying to kill Bart, that hasn't been the focal point of one of these plots in a long time

Well it made Brother From Another Series very good, I thought it was a good twist and would have been a good end to Sideshow Bob series but they brought him back a couple of mediocore episodes and completley disregarded that episode.

    [SPECULATION UPDATED 26-09-05]

The Girl Who Slept Too Little
Not particularly looking forward to. Could go somewhere, though. (edit: this turned out to be great!)

    Treehouse of Horror XVI
Wilmore's one other THOH segment (Send in the Clones) was solid, so I'm expecting something good here. (edit: not too sure about the guest stars, though)

    Bonfire Of The Manatees
As above, we need info first. Sounds interesting, though. (edit: it was ok, i guess)

    Milhouse Of Sand And Fog
Again, we need more info, but as Vox said, if it's a parody of the movie the title was based on, it'll be interesting. (edit: yeah, this was good too.)

    Marge's Son Poisoning
Eagerly awaiting this one. Everything about it sounds good.

    See Homer Run
Sounds like possibly the best of the GABF production line.

Last Of The Red Hot Mamas
Could be good, depending on the plot, but judging from the writer, it'll at least be funny.

    My Fair Laddy
Another one with potential, and sounds the best of the HABFs with confirmed titles so far (although, we've only got two)

    The Italian Bob
First had high hopes for it when we just had its description, but the John Frink writing credit (assuming it is written by him) kills my hopes a little. Let's hope it's not another Bart-Mangled Banner. (edit: girl who slept too little raised my hopes. either bart-mangled banner was a fluke bad episode, or slept was a fluke good episode.)

    Moe In Verse
This could be another good one here. Moe's poems will be good, at least.

    Homer's Heartbeat
Assuming it's different from both "Heartbroke" and "Bypass", it could be very good.

    Grampa Defined
Possibly another good one, so long as it doesn't turn out Grampa isn't actually Homer's real father (but I doubt it will).

    The Three Segments Of Christmas
Christmas episodes are usually good, and if they find a good way to string the segments together, this could be awesome.

    Suicidal Assistant
    Sounds bad. Prove me wrong.

    Season 25 Ratings
    Awful, probably

  13. #13

I like it! It already includes all of the pointless piffling pontification based on trifling tidbits & titles, and yet it doesn't include the tri-partite Christmas episode with the musical "Nutcracker" act. (Which was recorded long ago, and seems to always escape the p-code hawks.)

Some nice episodes there. Marge's Son Poisoning sounds like a classic. Also nice to see a Milhouse episode as well as a Sideshow Bob, Mayour Quimby and even Willy episode. I'm also looking forward to Dan Greaney episode. Has a lot of good episodes under his belt, including Summer of 4ft 2. The one i'm most intrigued about is the Grampa, Homer episode. I hope he is his father though!. The THOH should be good as it is written by Marc Wilmore who wrote " Send in the Clones" in THOH 13. The Moe potery thing with Lisa sounds good too. The Homer has a heart attack sounds good too. Let's hope it's the same quality as Homer's Triple Bypass!. And the only one with detailed description ( The Girl that Slept Too Little) sounds the only meh one. Well here's hoping for a good Season. Al Jean said in a recent interview it's the best we've ever done. Let's hope by the end of the Season we agree with him!

    Here's hoping!

A fight between Homer's yin and yang? And the death of his intellectualism? I'm gonna have to look into THIS one.

    Tongue

It's all just a popularity contest with you Mods!

But, seriously, I'm glad we have a Season 17 thread now. We can start speculating properly and there was no info left for the S16 thread. I'm looking forward to S17 - a load of interesting plots, which should turn out to be good based on Al Jean's previous seasons. Most promising episodes so far are the Christmas trilogy ep, Marge's Son Poisoning and the Moe poet one. Whilst anticipating the return of Sideshow Bob, I'm not sure I want him as mayor of some random Italian town. The worst ones will be The Girl Who Slept Too Little - stamp factory? I knew they were struggling for plots but this is a bit far! Also, the heart attack/fat camp one has literally been "done to death" and THOH's are always a worry. Finally, the most controversial one will be the euthanasia episode. Who will it be focused on? Grampa/Homer? Mrs. Bouvier/Marge? Mr. Burns/Smithers? I can't wait to see that episode. So, all in all, a promising season lies ahead!

Wonder if this years THoH's first tale opens with Homer hitting someone over the head with a bowling ball.

And what's all this about an assisted suicide episode? Real or "Homer's Prostitute of S17"?

I think the past two THOHs' first tales having Homer hitting somebody with a bowling ball was coincidence.

Assisted suicide was mentioned in an article somewhere.

Homer's Prostitute got delayed and rewritten a lot, so its now going to be Marge The Prostitue. As antcipated it will bring the return of Mr Bergstrom
When Homer gets fired from the power plant (again) Marge turns to desperate measures to pay for the families welfare. This leads her to a chance encounter with an old friend of Lisa's

I'm presuming that's a joke, as the copyright database would list both a production code and a title?

EDIT: Just so people know, the post originally had just HABF?? and the description...

does the copyright database list descriptions? If so, wouldn't we already have the descriptions for all the episodes in the first post?

sounds interesting, except the similarity between bart's heartattack episode and the homer one.
