4/5 Ah Ned's unforgettable break-down and the eight months of continuous butt spanking treatment! Two classic sequences![]()
Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.
4/5. Though I do agree that this episode was the beginning of the end for the old Ned Flanders character.
Kids, let me tell you about another so-called ``wicked'' guy. He had long hair and some wild ideas. He didn't always do what other people thought was right. And that man's name was...
I forget. But the point is... I forget that, too. Marge, you know what I'm talking about. He used to drive that blue car?
-- Homer's parable of the guy in the blue car, ``Homer the Heretic''
Ralph: I Won! I Won!
Principal Skinner: No Ralph this means you're failing English
Ralph: Me fail English? That's unpossible.
I adore this episode. It's the most memorable season 8 episode to me, especially when it says "the hurricane" in an homage to the main title sequence. The third act isn't as good as the other two, but it's still hilarious.
The part when Flanders gets angry is one of my favorite moments in the shows history!!! A perfect character study.
A great episode!
An underrated classic. My favourite act is easily the second with Ned's tour of the house and public meltdown.
Best Quotes:
Lisa: I think a hurricane is coming!
Homer: Oh, Lisa there's no record of a hurricane ever hitting Springfield.
Lisa: Yes, but the records only go back to 1978 when the Hall of Records was mysteriously blown away!
Apu: Stand behind the flaming garbage cans! We'll be letting you into the store 70 people at a time.
Kirk: Ah, let's just beat him up and take his stuff!
Apu: No, no, no do not listen to that man! Remain calm! You will all have a chance to be gouged.
Guardsman: Sir, for your own safety, we do advise you to evacuate.
Grampa: I ain't leaving! i was born in this nursing home and I'll DIE in this nursing home!
Guardsman: Is there any chance of you changing your mind?
Grampa: Sure, let's go.
Ned: Reverend, I need to know! Is God punishing me!
Rev. Lovejoy: Ooooooo, short answer: yes with an if. Long answer: no with a but.
Ned: Son of a gun-diddily-un! Those gilded edges smart.
Homer: ..we did have a wheelbarrow full of love.
Apu: And a cement mixer full of hope and some cement.
Ned: Was that uh, was that toilet always next to the refrigerator?
Wiggum: ahah Ned, have you ever tried lugging a toilet up a flight of stairs?
Now calm down, iddliy, diddliy, diddliy, diddlily, diddily.
They did their best shodilly iddily, iddily, diddily.
Gotta be nice, hostility, biddily, iddly, diddily- AW HELL DIDDILY DING DONG CRAP! CAN'T YOU MORONS DO ANYTHING RIGHT!
Ned: Oh yeah, the clown. The only one of you buffoons that doesn't make me laugh! (love this line)
Dr. Foster: You folks are free to roam the grounds. Ah, just remember, one of our patients is a cannibal. Try to guess which one. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Homer: I engaged in intercourse with your spouse or significant other. Now that's psychiatry!
Ned: .. and if you really tick me off, I'll run you down with my car. (scattered applause)
Highlights include The Hurricane opening gag, the death penalty( So long, Suckers!), the Rubiks Cube, the eye of the hurricane(Hmm, I don't remember a bowling alley being there- AHH!), GOD WELCOMES HIS VICTIMS Church sign, The Bowlerama's new location(teetering over the Carter-Nixon tunnel), the Happiest Man in Springfield, the "House that Love Built", Ned being dragged to his room, Ned's beatnik parents, the Spankalogical Protocol, Ned's breakthrough, and the "Free John Swartzwelder" sign.
