    R&R: Beyond Blunderdome

3/5. Just about OK for the first two acts, but what bugs me is how there's no real explanation for Homer and Gibson getting the remake to the studio.

i think of scully era shows as a completely different show than the classic years. therefore i'm able to look past abnormal characterization and zany plots for the sake of laughing at jokes (which was most likely scully's intent imo), and this episode had some very good jokes

It's a typical Scully episode, it's wacky, relies on a guest star, no solid plot, Homer can get annoying, but I still find their shots at Hollywood to be good for a few laughs. Mel Gibson's also characterized decently. Much better than Futurama's "That's Lobstertainment" and South Park's "Passion of the Jew." C/C+

2/5 Seriously stupid. Mel Gibson is a psychochristian, so that detracts from an otherwise great voice performance.
    I was saying "Boo-urns."

After the great/extremely funny "Who Shot Mr Burns: Part 2", for some strange reason, I have never since liked first episodes of a season...this was no exception. True, it had funny moments, not all of them intentional (The fact that no one had noticed the infamous three-handed Homer gag made me chuckle in spite of myself), but it just didn't do it for me.

One of the better episodes of season eleven, but that's not saying much.

Hated it for the up-most part. What is it with cartoons always having Mil Gibson in the car from "Mad Max"? 2/5.

Gibson: "You want me to replace the villain with a dog? I mean nobody will know what's going on."
Homer: "They will if you set up that the dog is evil. All you do is have to show him doing this." (He lowers his eyelids and glances around in shifty-eyed fashion) "The people will suspect the dog."

Meh... C/C-. The worst season premiere ever done.

A very funny episode, with probably the highest number of movie references in a single episode, and this is probably the one time jerkass Homer fit in well during the episode. On the minus side, however, is that pretty much everything that fans dislike about the Scully era is included. Season premieres are usually quite good, this one's only average. 3/5.
Bart: "Please don't call our parents!"
Chief: "I'm afraid I have to for hijinks like these. Hijinks - it's a funny word. Three dotted letters in a row."
    Eddie: "Is it hyphenated?"
Chief: "It used to be, back in the good old days, you know. Of course, every generation hyphenates the way it wants to. Then there's *NSYNC! What the hell is that? Jump in any time there, Eddie, these are good topics."

I watched this again earlier today. It was better than I remembered, although it was typically far-fetched for that era & the wheels kinda fell off in the third act...but I'd give it a 3/5.

Homer's remake of the movie was terribly funny. But this was just another "Homer meets another celebrity and goes on a wacky chase" episode.

Mel Gibson actually had a decent role, though the episode on the whole was fairly average.

I'll be pretty generous and give this one a 3. But it was pretty bad in alot of areas, far too wacky, and I just plain hate Mel Gibson.

I used to love this episode. We had to watch it a few weeks ago for a class assignment, and oh god, it was awful. For one of the first times ever I actually found Homer annoying, and I wanted to hit him just by hearing his voice. Mel Gibson was a crap guest voice (obviously put as the season premiere because of this). Terrible. Written AND showran by Mike Scully. Blecch.

    5th best of Season 11 - D

EDIT: Nevermind. After a rewatch, it's an F. Still 5th best of the season though.

Any episode that has Homer with a car up his ass and Robert Downey Jr. with a machine-gun as its highlights means it probably isn't a very good episode.

Typical Season 11 crap. Marge farting has to be one of the worst jokes ever. I'm not giving it an F because I thought Homer's movie was kinda funny.
