Okay, but nothing compared to the proceeding THOH V; It was interesting seeing Homer digitally animated, though. B+

What's wrong with that? Homer^3 is quite possibly my favorite THOH segment. 5/5.

Homer falls into the universe, finds an erotic cake store. The end. Not that great.

My favorite THOR episode. I love seeing Homer and Bart 3D animated that rocked. I also loved seeing Homer go back in time, thousands of famous quotes to which I loved. Bart and Lisa trying to save the day with Maggie saving the day in the end. We do not get many episodes with Maggie in them these days. Overall one of the best Halloween specials ever, and am glad I have it.

Pretty funny. This episode has one of my favourite lines in "It's like something out of that twilighty show about that zone." 4/5.

Wiggum: "Aw, they're not so tough."
Lou: "Um...Chief, that wasn't a monster. That was the captain of the high school basketball team."
Wiggum: "Uh, yeah, well, he was turning into a monster."

This episode was amazing, I don't understand the negative reviews in this thread. All three segments are downright hilarious, and Homer3 is a visual masterpiece. 5/5.

Well yeah, but that was just for the purpose of the end credits sequence. The main focus of that segment was the all-CGI universe, which was wonderfully done.

Attack of the 50' Eyesores - average. 3/5.
Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace - a very well done segment. 5/5.
Homer^3 - a very cool segment, weak in spots, but IMO Homer entering our world made it worthwhile. 4/5 is the rating for both this segment and this episode.
Bart: "Please don't call our parents!"
Chief: "I'm afraid I have to for hijinks like these. Hijinks - it's a funny word. Three dotted letters in a row."
    Eddie: "Is it hyphenated?"
Chief: "It used to be, back in the good old days, you know. Of course, every generation hyphenates the way it wants to. Then there's *NSYNC! What the hell is that? Jump in any time there, Eddie, these are good topics."

This episode is definitely one of my favorite THOH episodes and my favorite has to be the second segment, 'Nightmare On Evergreen Terrace'. The first segment, 'Attack Of The 50 Feet Eyesores', is also great as is the last one, 'Homer³ '; it's a solid episode overall.

i think it's one of the best Treehouse episodes
The first story "Attack of the 50-Foot Eyesores" is in a way the weakest, but still good.
"Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace" is great and one of my favorite Treehouse stories. And the best is "Homer³". It's really hilarious and fun

One of the better THOH episodes. I remember the hype surrouding Homer³ was unbelievable. Watching it for the first time, I was thinking 'there is no way that the show would send grampa into the 3D zone wearing that'. The show was all about Homer and Bart. The ending for the segment was surprising but still a bit funny. All 3 segments are very good. Love that Smarch joke.

yea i didnt like the ending to Homer^3 but the first part was pretty bad

  22. #22

Not quite as brilliant as V, but a lot of effort was obviously put into it and you gotta admire it for that. A

Loved the first 2 stories.. but yeah.. the 3rd was kinda dumb.

    Memorable moment:
Homer: "I paid for a colossal donut, and i'm gonna get a colossal donut"
Shop Clerk: "you dont scare us!"

Attack Of The 50ft Eyesores is good, Nightmare On Evergreen Terrace is even better and Homer Cubed upped the ante even more so and is one of my favourite Halloween segment. This, for me at least, may be the last "classic" Halloween Special.

For something that came out in 1997, this is real nostaligic. There was a big hype over the CGI Homer and now basically everything cartoon involves it, including the simpsons ride which features all the simpsons in CGI. Great episode and the third one is one of my favorites. But still, whats with the building and fish pond in the 3rd dimension and whats with that ending? Still a great episode! 5/5

Has anyone seen that movie, Tron?

  27. #27

yeah it has the first use of CGI effects but still is a lame disney film.

Very hard to follow up to THOH V which is the best of them but I thought VI was very solid and funny and Homer3 segment was as good as the other two.

I can agree with littlejamshed, this probably was the last great THOH special.

I liked Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace best, and to add to the last great THOH, this was probably the last truly horrifying (for a comedy) segment. Attack of the 50 Ft. Eyesores was entertaining and had a good ending, and finally, Homer Cubed was decent, but it seemed like they were having too much fun with the CGI to make a truly good story.

Those were the days...sadly, usually the best part of today's THOHs are the promo posters, but that's a rant for another thread.
