The Homer/Lisa story was nice, even if it has been done better before. Also enjoy the other story going on. In a way I almost think these ones work out better than Homer/Bart and Marge/Lisa stories sometimes go. B range, which would be 4/5.

A good episode by season 9 standards does not a good episode make. Average.
Pretty underated around here. It's pretty funny and has Homer getting his head stuck in a bridge. 4/5

I love Homer/Lisa episodes, and I felt that this one was fresh in that it didn't follow the "Lisa's Substitute" precedent, where Homer neglects and/or otherwise underappreciates Lisa; it was more like, say, "Lisa the Iconoclast", where the two of them are co-conspirators. Homer is very sweet with her, and I like that he tries to teach her something; telling a kid like Lisa to take more risks is actually pretty good advice.
I like the subplot, too; Marge and Bart are another underused pair. I like how the story is framed by the whole kids-have-a-weekday-off thing; it's a realistic setting, and an interesting, subtle exploration of the differences between Bart's idea of fun (glueing stuff to his face) and Lisa's (going to a museum). Plus, it gives the kids an opportunity to act like kids, which I always really like (Lisa's excitement about getting on the bus by herself, for example, and the run with Bart attempting to apologize and getting frustrated by the presumed silent treatment he receives).
All in all, this is a fantastic episode, and one of the best of the post-classic era. An 'A' episode for sure.
the crane thing went on for too long but the first 2 acts were genius.

5/5 in my top 10 (6th favorite maybe...)
Wow, I thought I reviewed this one. The final act is the best one, especially the life lesson, "Live life on the edge." The last five/six minutes is probably my favourite ending from season nine, because it just shows them together, discovering something while taking a stupid risk. I don't like the Bart plot, except the button machine thing. B+.
Great Homer and Lisa episode 9/10
Jimbo Jones: [about Homer] I hear that guy's ass has it's own congressman!
Bart Simpson: I wash myself with a rag on a stick.
Homer Simpson: [takes cap out of dryer and puts it on his head] Mmmmm... I CAN feel three types of softness.
Lisa Simpson: [from upstairs] Dad, what are you doing down there?
Homer Simpson: Washing my fat guy's hat honey!
homer simpson - "I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman."
this was a funny episode, that had some good homer jokes.
- his head was stuck inbetween a draw bridge.
- something that looked like the begining of a heart atack. "his tingling arm".
and it had a good father - daughter story that focused on their relationship, and showed homer as a caring father.
points : 5/5

Excellent episode, and i'm happy it made the Top 4. Funny, and a great Homer/Lisa story. In retrospect, I probably should have put it higher on my Top 50 list, but I probably should have done a lot of things.Anyway, I digress. A-range.

Really excellent episode.
That was funny, exciting, adventurous and so kind...
Homer characterization was really great! Jerkass Homer was absent completely!
And Russia town! (O my God, that was hilarious! That me very much pleased that all inscriptions in Russian were written correctly)
A+, 10\10 and that's my #30 all-time episode.

Very overrated. I had no idea it was liked this much. Definitely in the bottom third of the season.

Still like this one, but the second act isn't very good upon rewatch.
I love this episode. For me, Homer and Lisa episodes are so great. The relationship between them is always really sweet and it's nice to see writers developing this. They have such a cute bond, and it's always good when we see them sharing interests etc. The episode explores many different emotions, and the music during the end credits is always great to listen to. I would definitely voluntarily watch this episode.

I think people are being a bit harsh on this episode. I thought it was pretty funny and it's nice to see that Homer still has some good fathering moments in him (if you ignore the fact he broke into a museum). 4/5
