Rate and Review: Fear of Flying

Some pretty lame jokes. And if Marge couldn't fly why did she in the Washington episode. Those could presume this was a time before it. There were some darn good moments though.

Somewhat underated. I've always found Marge's discovery of her father's job very interesting, and hilarious.
The Cheers bit is also great.

Yes some parts are amazing and really funny.

I wouldnt say 4/5 is underrated. I think most people think this is good, though a weaker season 6 episode...

Very weak by season six's standards, but still an enjoyable episode. 3.5/5.

It´s funny but the plot makes no sense in therms of continuity and the discovery of Marge´s father´s job is something they haven´t use since then. It´s a 3,8/5 or so.

A funny episode, although not a "very funny" one, like some of the other season 6 episodes (4/5.)

This one had a great first act (the Cheers bit in particular; I also loved "This lesbian bar doesn't have a fire exit!", Homer's speech on watching TV in a different time zone, and Bart and Lisa in the luxury seats). The last two were subpar; the flashbacks were good as always, and so was Marge, but IMO the ending totally sucked. And if Homer was banned forever from Moe's, how come we see him back there in "Homer vs. Patty & Selma" and many other future episodes? Overall it's an OK episode, a few laughs, but has an "empty" feeling at the end. 3/5.
Bart: "Please don't call our parents!"
Chief: "I'm afraid I have to for hijinks like these. Hijinks - it's a funny word. Three dotted letters in a row."
    Eddie: "Is it hyphenated?"
Chief: "It used to be, back in the good old days, you know. Of course, every generation hyphenates the way it wants to. Then there's *NSYNC! What the hell is that? Jump in any time there, Eddie, these are good topics."

I liked it, created some depth for Marge's character.

    I give it a 3.5/5.

Pretty much everything has been said already. It has some great jokes, and the first act is gold, but after that the humor and characterizations go south. After the first act the story of Homer getting banned gets forgotten, Homer becomes annoying (especially in the third act), and the ending is a disappointment. Despite all of this, there are enough good jokes in the first act and here and there in the other two acts to make this episode worth watching. 3/5

One of my favorite Simpsons lines ever comes from this episode "we’ll need that to live".

I see this take a lot of criticism, I don't really see what's so bad about it, I don't care about continuity issues. Ok it's an episode lacking in depth, and it's not the funniest for its season, but we are talking season 6 here.

Underated. Loadsa funny moments, and a decent story to go with it. Homers quest to find a new bar was hilarious.

Several hilarious moments, and that makes up for a few slow parts or lame story points.

4/5, I think a very good episode that severely underrated by most fans. The first act has some great scenes when he is trying to find a new bar, and one of my all time favorite scenes with Guy Incognito. However, ven though IMO the second act slows down a bit, the third act really makes up for it with the reason behind her fear.

For those complaining about continuity, there are several things you have to remember. In Maggie Makes Three, Homer is sitting in there current house with Marge as she tells him she's pregnant. In Homer the Great, the power plant's parking lot extends to the simpsons backyard. They give tons of reasons as to why Homer is stupid, and in the 100th episode, Apu should be dead! So this episode is just as bad as any other episode with continuity issues. About being banned from Moe's Tavern, he could have convinced them to let him back in between that episode and the next one. Again, with the issue of Marge flying before, they have not kept continuity on a lot of other things as well. You are allowed to your opinion, but I just think it is odd that you would be angry about the continuity problem, when there are much worse ones in beloved episodes.
