B- This episode gets worse the more you watch it. Homer was really stupid, especially when he burnt his clothes.

Hey I never posted any kind of review for this.
Well it was quite a fun little twisted mystery, moral dilema plot a sort of cross between Burns Baby Burns and The Boy Who knew too Much. It was an intresting cleverly worked out plot with good use of wiggum, lou and eddy and one of my more obscure favourites kirk.
Humour was fairly solid but for some weak pardoying of hip hop and other little jokes that don't work, but that's usually a given for today. and it is slightly questionable that Lisa would be so worked up about revealing the truth. I'm not one to moan about not following specfic bits of character continuity of one particular episode. But this does contradict Lisa the Iconoclast and since it's a favourite episode and it's a very intresting development for Lisa I think it's dissapointing that it's forgotten here.

Lame episode. stereotypical rap jokes that a 10 year old could have come up with, nonsensical ending, only good part were the wiggum parts.

didnt find this episode funny that much and the heavily advertised 50 Cent cameo was 10 seconds long and a waste.

The guest appearance 50 Cent was crap, maybe if Bart went to a 50 cent concert instead of Alcatraz it would have been better. B-/C+

Stereotypical rap jokes that a 10 year old could have come up with? How's that lame? It's not like that was Homer on stage...

Anyway, I'd have to say that this episode wasn't exactly shooting for a high grade, but it wasn't bad. The rap jokes, though stereotypical, weren't overdone, and Wiggum was used well. 3/5 compared to other Simpsons episodes, though it could have easily been worse, so I'll be generous and give it 4/5.
Bart: "Please don't call our parents!"
Chief: "I'm afraid I have to for hijinks like these. Hijinks - it's a funny word. Three dotted letters in a row."
    Eddie: "Is it hyphenated?"
Chief: "It used to be, back in the good old days, you know. Of course, every generation hyphenates the way it wants to. Then there's *NSYNC! What the hell is that? Jump in any time there, Eddie, these are good topics."

This episode wasn't as bad as I had feared. Still, it was fairly average. 3/5

    What I Liked:

    50 Cent's cameo
    "Follow instructions? He's doomed!"
    "We don't need an Eddie."
"How would I explain it to Ralphie? That kid can't understand where the world goes when you close the drapes."
    Supernintendo Chalmers as a rapper
"Dissin'? Do rappers still say that?"
    Barney Fife's appearance
    Bart's raps were actually well-written

    What I Didn't Like:

Milhouse and the Frisbee (went on too long)
Homer burning his shirt and pants
Wiggum's fat growing over his badge
El Barto joke (too obvious and in-your-face)
    "Surf's Up!" ending

It was decent but perhaps a little forgettable. B-

Most of these episodes I find have a good begining and can never seem to finish well.It was pretty funny and I liked how Alcatraz was played by a real rapper(Boots from the Coup).

    SO I'D GIVE IT A 3/5

4/5. I'll admit, when i first saw it, i was younger, it scared me, cause i thought someone who try to kidnap me. But, it is a funny episode. I love Bart's raps. I hate the Milhouse scene with him throwing the frisbee.

Well, remember that bad promo-pic? (not hard actually, because I pasted it below my lines) See, that pic says it all. We have 50 cent here, some rapper who became worldfamous for his mumbling which is all because of a bullet that has been shot throughout his cheek. That's also the reason he is defined as badass by the elementary school kids. So how a great idea it was of Al Jean and his compadres to cast this incarnation of cool and place him alongside Bart, who needed to be defined as a bad boy again to appeal to those same 50 cent-worshipping elementary schoolkids, cheaply mentioned in one of the above sentences.
So, if we give Bart some nice hood-wear, than he'd definitely look street.

    Not.

This is as bad or even worse than teaming up Scooby Doo with contemporary celebrities in the 70s.

Terrible, Terrible episode. Not as bad as trainwrecks such as "On a Clear Day I can't see My Sister" & "Bart-Mangled Banner", but still quite pathetic.

    2/5

Also, they obviously shouldn't have hyped 50 Cent the way they did being that barely even appeared.

I actually always thought this one was kind of funny, honestly. It's aburd, but I thought it worked out decently. Kind of a guilty pleasure for me.

Almost. Scooby Doo teaming up with Batman and Robin was the worst.

We continue Season 16 with Bart being apparently kidnapped! But first, he asks Homer to let him go to a rap concert featuring Alcatraz. Provided he pay for it himself Homer agrees, but has to flip-flop when Marge says no. I felt kinda bad for Homer here as he ends up looking like the bad guy but his judgment wasn't all that off here. Bart sneaks off and goes to the concert anyway. Much of the rapping in the first act was really bad, but then I can't stand listening to rap anyway. Alcatraz drives Bart home and we get a cameo from 50 Cent who I am barely even aware of as a celebrity. Is he even a rapper anymore I dunno. Anyway, Homer and Marge discover Bart's absence and Homer delivers a line about ass welts that made me laugh for the first time this episode. Not wanting to get in trouble, Bart pretends to be kidnapped.

Bart gets help from Milhouse and decides to live at his dad's apartment with out his knowing. Meanwhile the whole town begins to mock Chief Wiggum, a man known for his incompetence. We get a great scene where Wiggum is talking to Barney Fife and I gotta admit the first time I was watching this episode I really thought they got Don Knotts so credit must be given to Dana Gould for his great impression. Armed with new determination Wiggum uses all his detective skills to figure out that Bart must be at Kirk's. He "rescues" the boy and Kirk goes to jail.

Milhouse, knowing the truth, is upset by this and demands Bart get his father released. Wiggum meanwhile has been promoted to Commissioner. Lisa also discovers some incriminating evidence against Bart, but Homer destroys it along with his clothing. Lisa goes to Skinner for help while Bart confesses what really happened to Wiggum. He, explaining that Kirk is happier with all the attention he gets from women as a convict, convinces Bart and Homer to go along with the cover up. They soon realize that Skinner and Lisa will go to Alcatraz for proof so they race there but too late. Thankfully, everyone decides to forget the whole thing and have a party, much to the bewilderment of Lisa.

This is another episode that I never remember and its probably for good reason. The ending is terrible, to such an extent that I really wish they would've left Lisa out of this one entirely, Homer is cringe-worthy several times, and the whole rapping part of the story is just an enormous turn-off personally. I do like Wiggum's story but it too just kinda collapses at the end. I mean doesn't he just get demoted again next episode? I could easily forgive all these flaws if the episode were funnier but it isn't. It has some good gags don't get me wrong, but nothing good enough for me to remember it. I'm gonna grade it just above Homer and Ned, but at least I remember that episode.(Though probably for the wrong reasons) Anyway, I'll give this a 2.5/5 rounded down to a 2 on the poll. A big fat pile of meh.

I found this to be a very enjoyable episode. Unlike many others, the guest appearance of 50 Cent was short and sweet, and the episode had humour in abundance (Marge and Homer's rap, Homer's lines when he though Bart was kidnapped, the newspaper headlines, a prison cell not being as small and dirty as Kirk's flat according to Wiggum, amongst others). The Wiggum plot I felt was interesting, as we got to see the effect of the criticism Wiggum receives for being a fat, incompetent slob. The ending is the only slightg downer, but certainly isn't as bad as "Surfs Up!", since unlike Great Money Caper, the truth about the events that conspired had been leaked. Overall, it's a 9.5/10 from me (5/5).
