Rate/Review South Park 808 "Douche and Turd"

Well, FINALLY, new episodes of South Park beginning with an episode thought up around a week ago! Now it'll be projected on our television screens and probably still be more funny than an the average new Simpson episode. (oohh...burn) [kind of kidding on that one, yet my Simpsons perception has changed for sure]

The plot is simple: Kyle wants a giant douche to win the elections. Cartman wants a turd sandwich to win the elections. The elections for what? School mascot. After some propoganda by it seems Cartman and Butters, the school is inspired to vote...except for Stan. He can't see good in either one of them...so he doesn't want to vote. Leading to his unfortunte banishment from South Park.

In rumors, P. Diddy comes to South Park to kill Stan for not voting, but that may not be the case anymore, however, for a show that as I'm typing may not be finished yet, anything can happen...

Leave it to SP to turn current events into an interesting premise that goes off on a completely different tangent from said current events.

Probably can't watch at the first-run time *coughredsoxcough*, but I'll try to catch the replay.

Gotta say I liked the episode quite a bit. Not as good as Trapper Keeper four years earlier in making fun of the election, but still good nonetheless. I could tell this episode was rushed, as there were obvious attempts to fill time (the boys asking Jimmy which idea was better). I thought it started off really well, tapered off a little in the middle, and ended pretty well with one of two hilarious musical numbers. I actually thought the Puff Daddy stuff took away from the episode (besides the hilarious song); it didn't really go anywhere and more humor came from the election itself. The loving animals part was a tad on the fucked up side, but that's South Park. Consistently funny throughout, not really much to complain about. This half of the season gets off to a good start.

I loved it, best episode of season 8 IMO so far. The "Douche and Turd" thing was a bit stupid, but the satire was South Park satire: brutal and hilarious. Loved it especially because I agreed with the theme of the episode. Loved "you have to vote, but for Douche." And the great ending. And the two songs. Maybe I'm overrating this, but I laughed my ass off the whole time A

Man they really love that "Kill me, kill me" ref. And what happened to that promo pic of Cartman and Butters with the preschoolers?

Pretty good, it seems like Turd Sandwich ended up worse than Giant Douche.

Good episode. Loved the shots they took at peta, and also good was the use of Puff Daddy and the two candidates. 4/5

Funny stuff. Not as good as Trapper Keeper, but it delivered some good laughs, the scenes with P Diddy were golden. The P.E.T.A. village was kind of lame, but the "kill me" duck was funny. 4/5 on the poll, B+/A- So far, this season kicks season 7's ass.

I really loved this episode. It had its shaky parts here and there (basically the PETA village was kinda weird and the Jimmy thing went on too long), but all in all, really well done. As Mason said, I agree with the message and I'm glad Trey and Matt have the balls to finally point out the errors in the "Vote or Die" and Rock the Vote strategies of MTV. Loved both songs, particularly the last one, though Puff Daddy's was F'in hilarious. My boyfriend and I laughed our asses off so I'm giving it a 5/5 or an A-.

Just like the citizens of SP to make a mountain out of a molehill (i.e., Stan not wanting to vote), and I mean that in a hilariously frickin' entertainin' way.

“Douche and Turd” was a nice solid episode that delivered plenty of laughs, and had a “great” message. I think a lot of people can identify with what Stan was going through. Like everyone else I loved the Puff Daddy song.

Quite good episode. The rushed feeling was there more than ever (the non-topical themes of the Meteor Shower trilogy gave it a less-of feeling) as expected, but I didn't think it would be THERE that much! Wow...but the overall episode was hilarious and P. Diddy was greater than I ever thought he'd be, especially the song. Of course, the "animal love" was screwed up...but that's what Matt and Trey love. Goes great with some puppet love as well!

I thought it was hilarious. Stan not wanting to vote and people freaking on him totally hit home for me. Only part that kinda bugged me was the PETA animal loving was pretty much a shot at gay marriage. Though seeing PETA shot was delightful. The ending was frickin great. Nice start to the second half.

Twas alright. Puff Daddy literally trying to kill Stan was hilarious, but overall a thoroughly average episode. Consistantly enjoyable, nothing special. 3/5

South Park satire at it's best. So many great moments, such as actually having guys in douche and turd costumes debating, also the fact that as it went along, you could clearly see that Douche= Kerry, Turd= Bush. One of their best efforts. 95%

Heard good things but I missed it due to something I was working on. Can anyone tell me when the replay will air?

  22. #22

They're re-aired on Saturday night for sure, either 10:00 or midnight, and Sunday night at 11:00. I'm pretty sure that when they air new episodes on Wednesdays, they'll air the previous week's episode at 9:30.

Thanks man. I usually don't miss the new ones, so this problem never came up. I knew they were on sunday night but I didn't know what time.

I really liked the whole theme (showing the errors in the MTV banners [I myself had thought up of making a comic somewhat related to this]) of the episode and it was really funny, but I hated the ending. They shouldn't of gave in. Had he (Stan) not voted in the end, you would've seen one more 5/5 on that, there, chart.

    4/5

(I'm not for people not voting, just not being "forced" to vote)

I'd give it a 3.5 or 4. It was funny, but some things got overdone like the blood throwing and animal loving jokes, which were funny, but just a little overused. On the lower tier of this season's episodes, but this has been a good good season.

I must say I wasn't impressed. The use of PETA came out of nowhere and the mockery of them felt a little too simple. I was expecting the show to create alot more satire about the campaigning and the debating than they did (I know they covered that ground before in the Underpants Gnomes episode, but still), but the satire was pretty much about the voting process itself, which in my opinion wasn't as interesting or funny. Some of the humor didn't work for me either. Stan's parents arguing over the candidates was predictable, the Jimmy joke and Cartman's bribing seemed to go on for too long, and the blood splashing was overdone. I did enjoy the Puff Daddy video and the pep rallies, but for the most part this episode felt poor. It's a shame, since with all that has happened this election season, I was expecting much better. 1/5

This episode was fairly good but I thought, it would be a lot funnier then it was. The whole Douche and Turd thing was really stupid, but the P.Diddy song was hillarious. I kept telling all my friends that P.Diddy would come to your house and kill you if you don't vote. The Peta thing got a little tired, but I'm glad they exposed that fucking organization for the assholes they truely are. overall it was a solid episode but a little dissapointing considering the fact we've been waiting since April to see a new south park 3/5
