What was the "Simpson Tide"-couchgag a reference to?

that's the one has all the colors, right?

it's Rocky and Bullwinkle (sadly I only really know this because of the commentary track)

Song question "Waverly Hills 9-0-2-1-D’oh" (LABF10)

    HI,
everyone was talking about the "stand by me" song and the weezer cover. But
does anyone know the name of the song that is playing when Marge and Homer are dancing at the party?

That "Waverly Hills" question has been asked at least twice, and nobody's answered. I wondered it myself, but I don't think anyone knows.

I have my own question. I'm just starting the new Simpsons ep, and I noticed this in the opening credits (the ice cream shop, which plays a role in a gag in Homer Alone):

I've never noticed it before. Does anyone know if it's a new addition or if it's been there all along? it's only in view for a quick second after Ralph's Jebediah-head gag.

edit: hah. Sideshow Bob's voice is also there now.

i figured i should ask here, rather than to make my own thread, or to keep assuming i am right.

is Tik-Tok at the starto of To Surveil With Love technically a couch gag? I see people mentioning how much they hate it and throw in "couch gag." I thought of it was a long opening. The only part that was a couch gag was the last 5-10 seconds or so, I thought anyways. Yet people say the whole thing is. Is it because it's easier than saying "5-10 seconds of a couch gag" or is the whole thing technically considered a couch gag?

The part of the Tik Tok thing that involves a couch is no different from the rest of it, so yeah, I'd call the entire thing a couch gag.

I consider the whole thing to be a couch gag.

There has been no normal episode in the history of the show to not have a couch gag tacked on (besides Roasting on an Open Fire). The Spin-Off Showcase, etc. didn't have one, but this is different, since Surveil with Love is just a normal episode with the Kesha thing tacked on.

It's the only "normal" episode without the classic opening. However, probably because they didn't want to seem like they were breaking the rules too much, they ended the song with OFF jumping onto the couch. In my book, that makes it a couch gag.

I saw this on the internet. I do not recognize it.
Is this a fantasy/dream-fragment from an episode or is this just deviant art?

I believe "Bart the General" and "Sideshow Bob Roberts" have no couchgags either.

Bart the General is too early for tradition to come into play. Sideshow Bob Roberts still had the classic opening. They just "cut out" the couch gag, doing the cloud opening and the Simpsons TV.

This had no cloud, and it had the ending of couch-->TV. whatever.

Neither did Life On The Fast Lane.

If you pay close attention, the ENTIRE sequence is one single, long, continuous shot (I posted this in another topic earlier today, it's probably the longest shot in the whole series). There are absolutely no cuts at all, so the couch gag is a part of the same shot that started at the school. I'd say that, as there is no actual cut to the living room - unlike in other episodes, that the entire thing constitutes as the couch gag.

ah, ok. Thanks. I have some non-seen episodes throughout the later seasons, that's why I wasn't sure.

Which episode does Bart refer to the hammer that Homer beats him with? This scene came to mind while reading the "darkest jokes" thread, but I can't remember the episode or context, and I can't find anything about it on google. Driving me nuts.

  17. #7247

It was in "Yokel Chords" (season 18)

Where Bart is having a session with a psychiatrist.

Didn't "You Kent Always Say What You Want" eschew the normal opening for a showing of "Family Portrait" or did it cut to the TV after the short (I know it's a simple question but I don't feel like wading through half a dozen ads on wtso to find out)

In the DVD commentary for "I Married Marge", when Homer and Marge are in the windmill at the mini-golf course, conceiving Bart, the commmentators mention there was a subtle joke intended when a man successfully putts the golf ball through the windmill, and it lights up.

I didn't get it. I'm guessing that it could be embarassing to explain....but would someone please be kind enough to do so anyway?

I haven't heard the commentary, but I think it's probably just an overt sexual euphemism for Homer's "success" at impregnating Marge, like when a sexual scene cuts away to a rocket launching or a train going through a tunnel.
