The Front: Lisa - Grampa how did you take your underwear off without taking off your pants...

Grampa - I don't know... what was that? he grimaced cos he gave himself a wedgie? Also Otto checks his undies for his name in an episode and goes oops these arent mine.

Who did the voice for the cat burgular Molloy?
Moe: What are you telling us, were trapped like rats?

Russ Cargill: No, rats can't be trapped this easily, you're trapped like... carrots.

You should read the FAQs up top to get a well-done assessment of Barney's sobriety on the show - that's what they're there for. To get an extensive episode-by-episode of his status since "Days of Wine & D'ohses", you may want to start a new thread.

(But, as Pat explained, MosesWiggum and PeterSector8 are wrong - its not the same episode.)

The joke is that we don't know how he did the trick either. And, for Otto, the joke is that he is wearing someone else's underwear.

First I'd like to ask a question that I asked before in this very thrad, but I didn't get any good reply. What's the satirical thing Hibbert refers to in The Springfield Connection (You know, when they're at the consert.)

And another question: What does the thing on Comic Book Guy's T-shirt mean? (The C:DOS/RUN-whatever-joke.)

Reading this post is an offer you can't refuse.

In the pre-Windows operating system DOS, you'd type in your commands. C:/DOS/RUN would be a command to make your computer's C drive run DOS. The RUN/DOS/RUN bit turns the whole thing into a pun on "See Spot run. Run, Spot, run" which is from an old children's book about a puppy named Spot.

It's a parody of some old TV show or movie (my grandad told me which one it was before but I'll tell you when I ask him again - I have a bad memory sorry). SNPP don't have it listed as a parody in their capsule (but they do mention the scene in the quotes - apparantely he is an autistic Dustin Hoffman-lookalike, and he is sitting next to a Tom Cruise lookalike.)

HOMER: 21? Do that card-counting thing again. Come on! Do it again.
RAYMOND: Definitely have to leave the table.
HOMER: No! Please, please, please, please, please?
RAYMOND: Gotta watch Wapner. Leave the table. Yeah, leave the table.
    HOMER: No!
    [Homer grabs his arm]
RAYMOND: Aah! [screams repeatedly, hits his head with his palm]
HOMER: Aah! [screams repeatedly, hits his head with his palm]

    I'll help you tomorrow, OK?

    1) He wasn't drunk. He ate too many Guatemalan peppers (although he had to wash them down with beer - and Marge saw that bit even though he wasn't supposed to drink.)
    2) It was a coyote, not a wolf.
    3) The episode is 3F24, El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Homer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer).
    There you go

I may be missing the joke here, but I don't get the bit on 'The Cartridge Family' when Moe has the irregular Oreos and says "I don't see what's wrong with this one" and takes a bite out of it and then he says "Oh."

Does there exist anywhere a list of every single program that has ever aired on FOX at 8:30 immediately following a first-run episode of The Simpsons (beginning with whatever aired following the original broadcast of "Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire" and ending with Arrested Development)?
    Season rankings: 4, 7, 2, 3, 6, 5, 8, 15, 1, 16, 9, 14, 13, 17, 12, 10, 11

In season 1, the show aired at 8:30/7:30c on Sunday nights before moving to Thursdays. All I could find was this very incomplete site: http://www.allyourtv.com/schedules.html

A show called 'Too Something' aired after the Simpsons in 1995, KOTH followed them in 2002, the 2003 and 2004 schedules there are wrong--The Ortegas, an Americanized version of The Kumars at No. 42, never aired, and I guess Fox gave it two shots before prematurely pulling the plug both times.

If anyone has a better list of such shows (including what came before the Simpsons in 1990), for the love of God, post it--it's something that's plagued my mind for a while too.

Well, if you're that interested, you could go to the library and check out old newspaper TV listings on microfilm. I'd do that (maybe I'll even do it tomorrow to return the favor) -- I was just wondering if a more complete list existed online.

I'd forgotten that it was on at 8:30 in the first season; for some reason I'd fixed it (and The Cosby Show) in my mind as being on Sundays at 8:00 in '89-'90.

For what it's worth. I seem to remember that in the fall of '90, the show that held the 8:30 slot was a show about three fat women called "Babes."

Hibbert is remarking on the inclusion of "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star" at the close of John Williams' "Star Wars" theme. It's "satirical" because it reduces the entire grand orchestral score to the concept of a common childhood nursery rhyme. ("Satire" is a very wide-ranging concept - Hibbert's definition may vary from other others').

Wendy Jo Sperber, where hast thou gone?

Hydro - great idea. There have been well over 100 shows that followed OFF, when you consider how many series launches were attempted there, as well as attempts to goose other shows' ratings by placing them after it, and all of the limited-run serieses and specials that followed it too. But if you started a new thread on the topic, I could add a number of shows (as could anyone who's been recording them, without eliminating the closing credits, which have the "coming up on Fox" voice-overs and promos.

Agreed, and you can find more reviews here: "The Regina Monologues"

Did anyone notice that about 99% of the people in London in that episode were white (or Simpsons yellow, at any rate)? Enoch Powell would've been happy.

What are the names of the Simpsons writers who are Canadian? I know there are at least 2.

And, what are all of the episodes that Conan O'Brien wrote? I know he wrote Marge Vs. The Monorail.

Conan wrote New Kid on the Block, Marge vs. the Monorail, Homer Goes to College and the wraparounds for THOH IV (he was credited as 'Watch' Conan O'Brien).

Is Springfield a town or a city, as it is frequently mentioned in various episodes that either is the case?
