    From Wikipedia
"The Neandertal or Neanderthal was a species of genus Homo (Homo neanderthalensis) that inhabited Europe and parts of western Asia from about 230,000 to 29,000 years ago.
"The first Neanderthal fossils were found in August, 1856, three years before Charles Darwin’s Origin of Species was published. The fossils were found in a limestone quarry near Düsseldorf in the Neanderthal, Germany."

As an insult, "neanderthal" refers to someone who acts in a primitive manner.

Whats the joke behind the part in "Homer's Barbershop Quartet" where Moe goes "Those women you hired to scream are doing a fantastic job" and Nigel goes "I didn't hire any girls to scream" and Moe is like "Huh?"

Or is it not a joke it's just there.

Moe assumes there's no way women would ever scream in excitement about the quartet (it is just Homer, Barney, Apu, and Skinner) so he guesses that Nigel hired the women to make them look good. When he finds out that they actually do love the group that much, he's shocked.

    Voice Actors on Commentaries?

I so far own on seasons one and two on dvd and none of the voice actors are featured on the commentaries *unlike the Futurama commentaries*.

I was wondering whether the commentaries on seasons 3 - 5 feature the voice actors and if they don't why don't they appear on them?

I ask because the Futurama commentaries are far more entertaining because of the contribution of the main voice actors like Billy West and Joe Dimaggio.

In The Old Man and the Lisa Smithers says re: the wrestler that just bought Burns mansion - I'll make sure he forwards your social security check sir... excellent. What does that mean?
Moe: What are you telling us, were trapped like rats?

Russ Cargill: No, rats can't be trapped this easily, you're trapped like... carrots.

Burns is collecting social security, which he shouldn't be because he's rich and doesn't need it. It's just another scam of his.

Exactly. The point is that Burns is keeping his, even though it's obvious that he, even more than your grandfather, does not need it. It's an example of how much he's in love with money.

what's with this scene from "mayored to the mob":

Quimby: Homer, I'm not, uh, sure it's wise to go out right now. I
was thinking of a quiet evening at home with the ... [sighs]
    wife.
Homer: Oh, I get it, you're worried about those mobsters, aren't
    you?
Quimby: No, no, I truly do want to stay home with the ... [sighs]
    wife.
Homer: You've got to snap out of this funk, mayor. I'm gonna take
you someplace where you can relax and forget all about
    gangsters.

He doesn't want to admit he's terrified of the mob, so he's trying to pretend that he wants to spend time with his wife. It's actually physically difficult for him to lie about wanting to, though, because of how much he apparently hates being with his wife (given how often he cheats on her, this isn't surprising).

I'm going to get tortured for this, but in "The Springfield Files," is the man who came out of the coma shocked that Sonny and Cher no longer have the show and he secretly liked it or that they actually went on to do other stuff? Haven't seen this one in awhile, I don't remember exactly.

  12. #402

I remeber someone asked what the song that the band was playing in Bart's treehouse in "All's fair in Oven war", the answer is the song known as "Take Five".

I think that the man was shocked that both Sonny and Cher would go on to such high levels of competence (becoming a senator and winning an Oscar, respectively) since he only knew the goofy pop-star Sonny and Cher from their variety show.

And iirc, the coma survivor said it was awful. So he's even more shocked.

Just to be clear, its in no way a "scam", which I think was MW's point. One receives Social Security benefits regardless whether on needs it or not. (There is no "means-testing" for benefits.) Burns would certainly be entitled to it, since he's been paying into it longer than anyone except for FDR (His SS# 0000-000-0002).

I thinks its actually that Quimby is trying to get Homer to take him out for the evening, by so strongly implying that he's rather do anything than stay home with his wife (for the reasons you state), and the point (of wanting to avoid his wife) is entirely lost on Homer. As is the fact that the musical "Guys and Dolls" has gangsters and mobsters as its subject - the last line was a set-up for the next scene: Homer taking him to see "Guys and Dolls".

"Take Five" is by Dave Brubeck, performed by his quartet.

You're right, of course - though the reporter's line was "he's a Congressman" - same thing.

SNPP or TVtome's simpsons episode guide.
The reality is that both your post and his should be bannable offenses. Pure ignorance about the show's current-day content is just as offensive as wearing blinders to mediocrity and openly praising everything.
    - Brad Lascelle, even if I don't agree on a post like mine in which I did not watch a new episode of OFF and still give it a negative rating should result in banning

We don't even know if there will be one yet. Besides, I think we would have heard about one by now.

Since the "Days of Wine and D'oh'ses" episode what episodes has Barney appeared in and have they *the show's writers* consistently maintained his sobered state?

    Thanks.

In "I'm Spelling As Fast As I Can" Barney has an R-E-L-A-P-S-E, as he sings in the song bit.

not the same episode. barney is drinking with joey jo jo in "the last temptation of homer", and moe called barney 'coffee boy' in "homer the moe." you got the two mixed up with each other.

Someone implied on this site that Matt Groening has a problem with Sam Simon. Just curious what this problem might be/might have aroused from.

Also--does anyone know which writers *hate* Barney? It's implied a few times in season 5 commentaries that some writers hate Barney. It's got to be a few who were working on the show when he became sober, a clear way of displaying their dislike.
