Secrets Of A Successful Marriage, and the scene is a Tennesee Williams parody. Smithers in the beginning is reminiscent of Brick in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, and it ends with Burns at the window yelling Smithers' name, a la "Stella!" from A Streetcar Named Desire.

    Shocked From Burns Heir

I watched Burns Heir when Marge and Homer go to a cult deprogramming place after they think Bart is brainwashed by Mr Burns. :-O

Guy at Deprogramming agency:I successfully de programmed Jane Fonda you know?!

    Marge: What about Peter Fonda?

Guy: Oh that was a heartbreaker.

    Can someone explain deprogrammed how?
Moe: What are you telling us, were trapped like rats?

Russ Cargill: No, rats can't be trapped this easily, you're trapped like... carrots.

By deprogramming they mean undoing a good old brainwash.

Just wondering, how often do Fox show non-new Simpsons episodes? On snpp.com they only ever seem to list episodes from the last Season or two. Do Fox not show any older episodes at all? And does Fox cut episodes when they repeat them?

My local Fox shows 2 episodes a day. They show mostly recent stuff, I hardly see any classic era stuff on there at all

Fox itself doesn't show old episodes. Fox only airs episodes from this season (and, very rarely, recent seasons) during its regular primetimes slot. Sindicated affiliates show reruns from older seasons. The sindicated affiliates are the individual stations (Channel 38 here, used to be Channel 41), not the networks that run them. It's not NBC, CBS, etc. who show your reruns--it's the stations who are owned by those networks. They show as many episodes a day/week as they feel like, or as much as they're contracted for.

A search of wikipedia reveals no one of particular interest with those names, so I dont think theres anything really behind them.

Are you asking how Peter Fonda was deprogrammed? I dont know if the joke is referring to anything in particular, but in the 60's Fonda was part of the counter-culture and pretty radical, and less so these days I guess.

Bart's choice of "Steve Bennett" is possibly simply a matter of it being kind of a macho-sounding name. Lisa's "Lois Sanborn," is probably a reference to jazz saxophonist David Sanborn: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Sanborn

Sunlight is a source of vitamin C. Rickets are caused by vitamin C deficiency.

Most commonly found in cowboys, rickets hardens the bones, so cowboys with rickets walked bowlegged like that because they spent so much time on thier horses.

In 'Today I Am A Clown', after Homer keeps getting rid of panellists, Marge comments on him becoming power mad, and says 'May now we can get that padding that goes under rugs.' Neither the lip-syncing nor Marge's actions match what she's saying. Was that line re-dubbed at the eleventh hour, and if so do we know what the original line?

As far as I know: no, we don't know what the original line was (it was probably re-dubbed because a crew/cast member got offended)...i noticed that not too long ago too.

The vitamin is D. Sunlight is not a source of the vitamin, but it is a means through which our bodies can process the vitamin, without which we get rickets. A deficiency of vitamin C is called scurvy.

Bowleggedness can be a symptom of rickets, but it is not always a symptom (just a symptom that's easily demonstrated visually in a cartoon), and not everyone who is bowlegged has rickets. In cowboys, it's caused by years of horseback riding.

Or if your an old hooker, from years of getting ridden'! Haw haw!

I find it hard to believe that the writers didn't have something else in mind when they gave Bart and Lisa those names. But thanks for everyone who helped!

    Looking for help....

I believe the scene is Lisa and Mr. Burn's on Smartline hosted by Kent Brockman. During a commercial break, Lisa says something negative to Burns and he replies, 'my God man, are you always on?'

Any idea what episode that's from, or what the context of the conversation is???

Thanks in advance!!! (i'm driving myself crazy trying to think of it)

  24. #2904

That was from fraudcast news. They weren't on Smartline, Lisa was at the powerplant because Burns was trying to shut her newspaper down. When Burns told her to leave she said she couldn't because her parents werent picking her up for an hour. While she is waiting Burns tries to make small talk and asks "So what do you think of the popular music scene?" and Lisa says "I think it distracts people from more important issues." Then Burns says "Are you always on?"

  25. #2905

What's the name of the episode when they go to Brazil? It's been really bugging me for quite some time.

  26. #2906

    Blame it on Lisa.

P.S. if you need episode titles you can go to the simpsons official website. That episode is also found in the latest Simpsons Guide "One Step Beyond Forever"
