    I don't understand why this joke is funny. Can someone explain it please? Thanks

    The joke is that Marge is imagining a future where she went into Journalism.... in that future, the soviets won the game, which sends Marge into hysterics. Instead of having some major world event change, the outcome of one hockey game does, which, in the grand scheme of things, is largely irrelevant.... I guess it really is less funny if you explain it...

    Which reminds me of the quote by Homer - If Arty marries Marge I'll never be born! which was from which eppy?
    Moe: What are you telling us, were trapped like rats?

    Russ Cargill: No, rats can't be trapped this easily, you're trapped like... carrots.

    Half Decent Proposal. Havent seen the episode but I remember it from the One Step Beyond Forever book mainly because the title of the quote followed the lines of "Homer confuses Marge's actions"

    In Bart vs Australia the government guy is showing them a slideshow. He is talking about how america really liked australian culture in the late 80's but that it didn't last. The slide that comes up then is a movie theatre and the marquee says "Yahoo Serious Festival" and the building is all boarded up. Then Lisa says "I know those words, but that sign makes no sense." What the hell is this all about anyways?

    Yahoo Serious (not real name) is an Australian actor who was big around the late 80's. He starred in a popular film called "Young Einstein". The writers might have been making a joke on how he's washed up, or how non-sensical his name is, I don't know.

    I was watching "The Springfield Files" today. When Homer blows into the breathylser, the meter goes from (not entirely accurate) ??????-Tipsy-Drunk-??????. The last meter is the name of a person. Could someone tell me who the person is and why he is being made fun of?

    The episode was Season 7's A Fish Called Selma and the project McClure took on after dropping McBain 4: Fatal Discharge was "The Contrabulous Fabtraption of Professor Horatio Hufnagel".

    (2 playing during the riot;
    the theme from the sopranos; Adam R sez A3 - "Woke Up This Morning";

    ^I'm sure about the A3 thing (the A stands for Alabama btw) because it was asked loads of times at Maggied and is in the LISA on SNPP. And as SF! said The Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer in the City." is one (one of the riot songs). I checked OSBF and it mentioned these two plus 'Radar Love' (Fat Tony's request on the radio, I assume that's the other one), although it doesn't mention an artist. That's as much I know.

    Yes, when Homer says "Boy, if that bothers you, I'll destroy something Maggie loves!" and she hugs it caringly. Also earlier in the episode she runs around the house, and past Homer with it, just as he says "what an irresponsible father" to a person on the tv.

    In 22 short stories...., the newspaper that Homer buys when Maggie gets trapped, it says "Helms calls for donut tax". I am not from USA so i didn't quite understand this. I did a search and it came up with Jesse Helms. Would this be who it is referring to, and does it refer to anything or is it just a joke?

    In The Twisted Wolrd of Marge Simpson that groovy song plays while the success montage is going. What is the name/author of that song?

    Jesse Helms was a senator. Here in the US Senators routinely propose/back up laws and proposals. I believe Helms was a Conservative senator, so I believe the writers just decided to use him as an example. In any case the joke is more on the fact that a tax is being put on donuts, which Homer loves to eat so it disturbs him. It's absurb because donuts aren't something that would be 'taxed'.

    Okay, so
    A3- WUTM (Sopranos theme; Tony's ride to the assasination)
    Golden Earring - Radar Love (Tony's request)
    The Lovin' Spoonful - Summer in the City (1 of 2 riot songs)

    Thanks Adam and Broom.

    still missing, the non-Summer in the City riot song.

    Are you talking about when the people break into the music store and come out playing instruments? Because the song they are playing is the Notre Dame theme song i think.

    Got me a question.

    I won't be able to see the new episode Sunday on FUX. When will I be able to see it next? Will it be replayed?
    I'm in the Eastern Time Zone for the next week if that makes any difference.
