Good episode but not as good as part one. A bit borng.

Edit: After a re-watch a few years on, "borng" or boring(!) isn't the word that I would use. I guess the problem that this episode has is that Part One seemed to be far more exciting, tense and perhaps more funny. However this is still a great episode. I loved the way the writers kept you guessing throughout the whole episode and made a pretty good joke out of it being Homer and Smithers. A- although I can't help to think that this would be A/A+ if I could remember seeing this for the first time.

This was an instant classic, as Pie Pants said. Alot of funny references, good direction, and logical plot twists. The first one is more memorable, but this is in no way disappointing. A

I give this episode a 4/5. The first part was excellent, but the second part is lacking a little. The problem was this episode spent so much time with the Burns mystery that it forgot to tie up the loose ends from the previous episode. Moe never gets his bar back, Grandpa is still living with the family, and we never know what becomes of the oil drilling company. On top of that, the red herring involving Grandpa and his gun ends up unresolved and just feels confusing. Despite all of this, the first part set up so many cliffhangers that the second part probably wouldn't have been able to resolve them all anyway, so I can't hold it against part two that much. This episode still had plenty of suspense, great humor, a stirring musical number, and had a satisfying conclusion to the mystery. It wasn't quite part one, but it was still pretty good.

A very good episode. Part I was better because the episode was building up to a climax ,but there were plenty of funny moments including Homer strangling Mr. Burns trying to get him to remember Homer's name. The only disappointment was that the culprit was Maggie. I guess the writers had to find some one who couln't be sent to jail or have their character killed off. B+/A-

Not as good or funny as Part I, but still a very well-written mystery. Sideshow Mel and Lisa in Wiggum's dream cracked me up the most. And Marge: "I took everything that came with him, including his DNA" "Uh...yeah mom." It definitely did have one of the best endings ever, unless you knew already, I don't think anyone could have guessed that it was Maggie who shot him. And Maggie's expression at the end has got to be among the greatest shock gags ever. However, it did have the feel of having tripped over itself after the mad rush of Part I, and didn't really move forward enough. The only thing that really fueled the episode was the mystery. I give it a 4.5/5

As i've said before in the Rating Episodes Daily thread; I think this episode wasn't as great as Pt.1 but it's still A-material and it brought an satisfying closure to the "Who Shot Mr. Burns" story. There's also some good gags and genuinely good humor in this very good S7 starter and I do think that the episode would be a lot better if viewed directly after the first part since they after all are technically just one very long episode

A conservative 4/5. This is a great episode with some great gags. Some of the syndication cuts are sorely missed, mostly when they crush Shelbyville with the sun blocker. Dr. Colossus is also pretty funny. Actually, I used to have a giant poster with like every character who'd ever appeared on the show, and I always used to wonder who the hell the green-skinned guy was until I learned that there were scenes removed from the episodes when they were packaged for syndication.

Favorite part is the "screw you, audience" thing at the end with Burns saying what he used his last ounce of strength for.
