    Rate and Review: Whacking Day

This is a very, very funny episode. One of the truly wackier early ones, maybe even the mostso, but the laughs really are endless. I hereby use my "A" club to whacketh at thee.

The episode was a good attempt, although rather pointless. It was very original and creative, but also very empty. Barry White made a good cameo, but the one very good thing to come out of this episode was Superintendent Chalmers' debut. Overall, it's rather forgettable.

It is a forgettable episode. There really wasn't anything bad about the episode, but on the flip side there really wasn't anything good about it. It just struck me as an episode in which stuff happened. Even though it had its usual hilarious moments, the plot seemed to be pointless. Also, I think there could have been more done with the Bart being home schooled subplot. Overall, an okay outing, one of season 4's weakest episodes, but still on the upside. B.

It's on the lower end of the Season Fours, but it's still pretty good. I love the joke about forgetting Dolph, Jimbo, Kearney and Nelson until the end. Hightlight of the episode, that was.

Anyway, I give it a B+/A-. Good try, but nothing special or spectacular.

Could fit in the later seasons. (Read Tomacco's thread) It's not too memorable, and feels out of place four season four. Barry White's cameo was funny though. B-,C+

4/5, B+, Very good but flawed. Barry White was good, mind.

For some reason, I've always liked this episode. Sure, the plot is out-there and the subplot wasn't played out enough, but this is still a hilarious episode. Who can forget the "I am Evil Homer" sequence or Barry White's guest appearance? Granted, this episode isn't the most memorable of the season, but it's an overall enjoyable outing. I agree with Patman to an extent--this is simply an episode where stuff happened. But, the result of all that stuff was a very funny episode. Some great stuff here, but far from the best. A

4/5 When I watched it for the first time I thought it was kind of an average episode, but now I think it is great. I love Homer and Lisa´s "whisky bottle" line and the guest star Barry White is used in a funny way, unlike most of the guest stars that have disgusting, not very appropiate appearences nowadays.

And Marge and Bart´s subplot is one of the greatest subplots in the story of the series. It is simple, it is real and it has nice characterizations of both Marge and Bart.

Too whacky for me, and not particularly memorable. Maybe some funny moments, but it was just not all that great. Towards the bottom half of S4 imo. B-

I thought this episode was really good and very underrated. The first act seemed a little pointless but it was altogether a fun outing and will be fun for years to come. 4/5.

I don't see what's so great about this episode. Besides the Skinner/Chalmers interactions and Grampa's story it's really boring. Low-point of Season 4, for sure. Although, by no means does that mean it's terrible. 3/5.

4.5/5. Fine, fine episode! First appearance of my favorites, Chalmers and his conversations with Skinner, Evil Homer, Barry White, Lovejoy lying to Lisa, and the bullies locked up. Overall another great one for season 4.

The premise is actually very good. It comes from an old short story called " The Lottery". In the story, everyone gathers around the town square for a lottery drawing, and the winner of the drawing is pummeled to death by stones. The theory is why continue to perform a ridiculous ritual just for the sake of tradition. The problem with Whacking Day was in the execution and possibly that using snakes lessened the impact of the story. The episode wasn't bad but it was a little dull and besides the " I am evil Homer line it did find the episode to be very funny. 3/5 B-

I just re-watched Whacking Day, what a fantastic episode. I really liked some of the animation in this episode.
she didnt exactly read shrek the 3rd, which apparently exists as some sort of companion book for a pixar movie. no, this would probably take several minutes (perhaps 10), and would have ultimately depricated the shrek 3 cinematic experience

she merely looked at the book

she saw it, perhaps in the childrens section of a barnes & noble, registered it in her mind as being in existance, and filed it away for later as the subject for a post on BOOKS YOUVE READ. only she just looked at it. and it was shrek 3

in a way its the saddest post ive ever read
