Rate and Review "Lisa's First Word"

    Ep 10!

What can I say? A classic flashback ep, with one of the greatest endings ever. Hilarious throughout, and some very sweet moments A+.

An absolutely brilliant monumental episode. The final scene where Maggie says her first non-hallucinatory, non-dream, genuine word remains totally memorable after all these years, and exceptionally touching. About the twenty minutes of episode before this, all good stuff, plenty of great jokes, especially the fact that Bart calls Homer not by 'Daddy,' but by his name, repeated by Lisa later on. Overall, just warm, tender and touching. Perfect viewing for all.

Great episode, and might just be my favorite flashback episode. Although it's a tough decision. This one is pretty much great everything. Very funny and sweet at the same time. Beautiful animation in this one as well. Nancy does a great job as 'toddler' Bart, and for a yellow creature with spikey hair, Lisa is incredibly cute in this one. Maggie's first word is probably one of my most memorable Simpsons moments, and i'm still amazed and impressed that they got Elizabeth Taylor to do the word. Such a classy touch and all-around classy episode, A+

Not as good as Homer's Barbershop Quartet, or its prequels, but it's still heartwarming and funny, and has some good character development. 5/5, A

One of the best flashback episodes (but, as Strong Sad said, "The Way We Was", "I Married Marge" and "Homer's Barbershop Quartet" beat it out for the top spot). The characterization on toddler Bart is great, and Lisa is cute (well yeah, for a cartoon character), like bmac said. There are some very sweet moments (Lisa saying "Bart", and the final scene). But, the humor may very well be what wins me over on this one. Homer singing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" always gets me, Barts antics are great, and the cuts back to the present are always good for a laugh ("You win round 7!"). The ending, Maggie's first word, is probably one of the greatest scenes and endings in the history of the series. In fact, I like that whole run ("The sooner kids talk, the sooner they talk back. I hope you never say a word"), and it's a great ending to a great episode:A+

It's okay, but I prefer Lisa's Sax as the best flashback episode.
And call me crazy, but I find the ending to be just a wee bit, uh... cheesy.

Good episode, right up there with the other early flashback episodes. The mood and time were set well, characterization was great (especially young Bart) and Lisa's first word "Bart" was a cute way to end it. Very funny throughout as well. Good stuff, A+.

Another great episode. It was very funny and had a great plot. It had the same qualities as Mr. Plow which made it such a memorable one. 5/5

Sweet, touching Lisa episode. Like I really needed to say that. Best thing about it to me is seeing how much Bart really loves Lisa and vice versa. So, so cute. And the ending with Maggie, one of the biggest and most memorable events ever.

I can't give this an A+, but it's way above an A-. The excellence of season 4 continues.

This is a really good episode. All of the flashback episodes seemed to be great, but this one towers over even those. The ending with Homer saying "As soon as kids start talking, they start talking back. I hope you never say a word," followed by the final ending with Maggie saying "Daddy" ends it perfectly.

Although it's not as good as the two that came before, or the next one to come, this is a good flashback episode. Very funny stuff, and nice on an emotional front. I give it an A, or 5/5

Uh, that's from the Season Nine flashback, "Lisa's Sax". More confusion on your part, perhaps?

My favorite episode of my favorite season. That says a lot. A+

(though it isn't my favorite episode overall; that's probably Bart Sells His Soul)

It's a good episode, although the title of "best flashback" certainly goes to I Married Marge. I liked the 3rd act with 3-year-old Bart trying to dispose of baby Lisa (pushing her in the mailbox, giving her to Flanders). Really fun episode. 5/5.

Marge: "I'm afraid we're going to need a bigger house."
Homer: "No, we won't. I've got it all figured out. The baby can have Bart's crib and Bart'll sleep with us until he's 21."
    Marge: "Won't that warp him?"
Homer: "My cousin Frank did it."
Marge: "You don't have a cousin Frank."
Homer: "He became Francine back in '76. Then he joined that cult. I think her name is Mother Shabubu now."
