Rate and Review King of the Hill "Cheer Factor"

Sadly, I think I can now acknowledge, as we all can, that KOTH is running out of ideas. We must have seen so many plot elements of this episode in previous ones:

"Bobby Slam" - Peggy coaches a girls team.
"Three Coaches and a Bobby" - At the end, Bobby gets the team back to the fold in order to win the football game. In this one, Connie does almost the same thing.
"Chasing Bobby" - Bobby is a mascot who gets beaten.

These are off the top of my head, but there's probably more, like Peggy being invited to sit at the popular staff table. I think something like this happened when she joined the high school staff. Peggy being controlling and cocky has definitely been done to death already. The ending of the episode felt technically to quick, and I was surprised when the Executive Producers black screen came on so fast. It was a predictable ending anyways.

I know I probably sound like a pundit here, picking at narrative elements instead of evaluating the comedic content. But overall, I don't think there was a huge amount of laughs in this one either. The first act harboured them all for sure, like Dale's terrorizing Moss.

Overall, as an episode itself, forgetting all previous ones, this one would stand as average. But with all the re-using old elements, it stands below average. Something like a 2.5 or maybe a 3/5. Nothing really horrible, but nothing original or fun either.
    Signature.

I missed the first 5 minutes of it. I thought it was ok, nothing special. 3.5/5

I didn't like it. Why would the school board let them use knives in a cheer? They'll make a bigger deal about beating a leprechaun than stabbing an animal? Didn't make sense to me. The ending was way too predictable with Connie taking a stand. It just wasn't funny at all.

I worry about the fact that we still have a few more seasons left...

If it doesn't pick up anytime soon it's going to get depressing.

Nothing at all that funny in this episode.....ever since they switched the animation recently (or maybe my eyes didn't notice the drastic change as much earlier).....I mean, I know they switched to computer animation a season or two ago, but now it looks really tacky and helps take a lot of the life away from the scripts, which haven't been all that great either.....like Malcolm in the Middle, KOTH is honestly starting to bore me.

Well, the new animation actually only started this season (although a couple scenes last year were done this way too). That's not my problem, because episodes like "The Incredible Hank" were still great.

But today's episode was really just uninspired. Its problems were way beyond the animation.

This was nothing too great for me. I'd say about 3/5

I just saw the last half. I don't see enough KotH to be bothered by some of the things Tomacco mentioned. I found it enjoyable, a well-executed look at violence shock-culture and also political-correctness. There's a kind of meh character story at the core of it all, but it was good enough.

I liked this one. It is like other episodes, but I don't think KOTH is runnoing out of ideas. They've had some good lots this season, my favorite being That's What She Said. Also, it's still better hen the odd ideas from last season.
