I agree. the first half was OK, but once they introduced the Loch Ness Monster, it didn't make any sense. Even Mike Scully comments on the complete absurdity of it on the commentary

Summer of 4 Ft. 2

I was only able to half watch it as I was cooking but I remember it well. There's some really good jokes from Homer, the whole run where the family are playing that board game and Lisa draws the "poindexter" card which has an uncanny resemblance to Milhouse... something that Homer is all too happy to point out*. I love the look Homer gets when he sees the card! Oh, and the bit where he buys the illegal fireworks from the convenience store but tries to distract the clerk buy also buying cigars, a copy of "American Breast Enthusiasts" magazine, a bottle of whiskey (Old Harper?), a large box of condoms and a couple of disposable enemas is brilliant. And, then when Homer gets back to the beach house and Marge sees the contents of his shopping bag and says "I don't know what you've got planned for tonight but count me out"... I'm cracking up just thinking about it. I could carry on, the more I think about the episode, the more great little moments come to mind (Bart strapping Milhouse into the baby seat, Homer with his improvised swimming trunks...) but I'll be hear for ever if I list them all.

All in all, a solid episode.



*Whilst I was looking for the exact quote, I found out that there are three people called Homer Poindexter in there USA, two in Texas and one in Arkansas.

I always thought this was episode was kinda average in classic terms but I really appreciated it this time. I thought they made Lisa's feelings realistic for a girl of her age in that situation (a sense of betrayal per say) and the ending was a cute way to end the story IMO.
