"Homer's Enemy". Very interesting episode that I seem to appreciate more as I get older. It isn't as consistency funny as most of my favourites, but always fascinating.

Not to take away from his standout performances as Wiggum, Apu, and others, but I think this may have Hank Azaria's best acting ever on "The Simpsons". He really pushes himself in this one, selling the hell out of Frank's frustration and bitterness. Dude should have won an Emmy for it.

There were a few hilarious moments, despite most of the episode's appeal coming from its unusually odd and dark tone. Loved Lenny and Carl telling Frank to shut up when he's trying to make everyone think less of Homer for being in the contest too, and the ridiculousness of Burns' dog vice president helping him scold Grimes. Also, "Ralphie, get off the stage, sweetheart" is one of the sweetest lines ever and my favourite thing Wiggum ever said.

The ending kinda made me feel icky, though. That was just messed up, man. I like my fair share of dark humour, but that was a little too dark for me!

Itchy and Scratchy and Marge - 8.5/10 Solid stuff, which is unsurprising for an Itchy&Scratchy-themed episode.
Poochie needs to be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine

Holidays Of Future Passed -- B

Wow, I must say I really enjoyed this episode. This is the first episode of season twenty-three I've seen so far actually. There were numerous things I laughed out loud at, for the first time in a long time with a new episode. The kinds of technology and how society was like in the future was interesting and funny. I would say this is the best episode in seasons from what I remember. I'm going to watch it again sometime before Christmas. Very good episode, very enjoyable.

Bart Gets Hit By A Car - 7.5/10 Good, but often inconsistent. It started off well, then dragged a bit in the middle, then improved a lot (I loved it when Mr. Burns gave his story of what happened to the court), but the ending wasn't as good.

    The Front - A

Never realized just how funny this episode is until watching it this morning.

    The Book Job - B

I liked the format of this episode, and it was overall interesting. There were a lot of funny jokes, and I enjoyed this episode surprisingly. Will give this another watch sometime soon. So far both of the episodes from season 23 I've seen 'The Book Job' and 'Holidays Of Future Passed', I actually truly enjoyed.

    Bart Carny - B

Been awhile since I've watched this episode, this one was funnier than I remember it being too. Used to rate this one a 'C'

One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish - 8.75/10 Great stuff. It managed to be (quite) funny, but emotional towards the end.

The Way We Was - 9/10 I'm pretty nostalgic about this episode, as I think (though I may be wrong), that it was one of the first I saw (or at least owned a copy of). Nostalgia aside, I can still see that this is a great episode. Wasn't particularly funny or anything (though one moment did make me laugh) but the great story and characterisations made up for it.

Interesting episode. It picked up as the episode went along, and I liked a lot of the jokes. Bit of a touching episode, enjoyable.

How Munched is that Birdie in the Window-3/5

Some good chuckles, but I wasn't too fond of the plot and the few laughs that there were were so few in numbers that this episode does only deserve a 3/5.

You know how Bart shudders and remarks, "that's very disturbing" when he discovers it's Ned singing with the 'heavenly' voice in church in "Bart's Girlfriend"? That's what I'm doing right now, just thinking of that ending. Thanks for reminding me. Poor Grimey. His meltdown/epic spaz out at the power plant was funny, but damn, that funeral was just too cruel.

Just watched "The Secret War of Lisa Simpson" so I'm done with my Simpsons DVDs for awhile. It's been fun coming here and sharing some thoughts on a few of the episodes as I went through them again. Nice episode to end the season (and classic era) on, although like "Homer's Enemy", its ending was a bummer.

I guess the producers felt they couldn't wrap things up sweetly because that would be too predictable and cliché, but the kids deserved better after their ordeal. Willem Dafoe was really underrated as a guest star. He had a lot of tricky dialog full of long whimsical sentences and made it flow so smoothly. I especially dug his emphatic delivery of the line, "GENTLEMEN...welcome to flavor country!".

Homer vs Lisa and the 8th Commandment - 8.5/10 Sometimes some bits felt a little preachy, but other than that, it was a great episode. Characterisation good, plot good. Good in general.

Principal Charming - 7.75/10 Some bits were a little slow, and it was low on jokes (I did like Homer searching for bachelors, though), but the story itself was pretty nice.
