THOH XXII - 1/5

burns, baby burns- 5/5
Homer's Odyssey - 6.25/10 A difficult one to grade. There were some amusing scenes throughout, but Homer trying to commit suicide was just wrong. It would have made more sense if he had left Marge, and gone to work somewhere for the minimum wage (basically, 'I Marrige Marge'). I know it was hard for him to find work, but that doesn't mean it is impossible to find any job at all. Also, Homer's 'I must campaign for safety!' felt pretty sudden.
There's No Disgrace Like Home - 5.5/10 Surprisingly funny for Season 1, but quite weak. The characterisations were off and not a lot really happened. Like 'Homer's Odyssey', it sort of degenerated after a strong-ish start.

Still watching season 8 on DVD. For a "supervillain", Hank Scorpio sure is a lovable guy. I can't help but root for him, even though he's inflicting horrible violence on folks who are supposed to be the good guys (i.e. army, government). He's such a fun, friendly, wonderfully kooky guy, I'm on his side no matter what he does. I even laughed out loud when he pressed the "scald" button and unleashed a vat of acid on the soldiers (but in that case, I think I was laughing more because of the hilarious animation of the soldiers' twitching eyes, mouths agape in terror, and the wrenching of their whole bodies).
I think Homer casually kicking away the grenade that drops near him was one of the best visual gags ever on this show. For some reason, I never noticed the very funny moment of Homer saying "Mr. Scorpion" before...like many great episodes, this is one in which I discover new things to like, even after watching it countless times. I can't pick a favourite joke between "the hammock district" and "Sorry, it's not in packets." "Want some cream?". That joke just gets better with age.I'm so glad Hank Scorpio never came back after this (aside from an opening credits cameo). Scorpio was so perfect in this episode, I wouldn't want another appearance to taint that.

Replaceable You : C+ 11/20
He Loves To Fly And He Doh's: 5/10 : Seemed similar to the Mansion Family at first (Homer thinking he's entitled to live a life of luxury because Mr. Burns gives him a glimpse), picked up when Homer was trying to gain confidence, then tailed off into some story about him landing a plane. Nothing too good or bad.
Homer of Seville - 5.25/10 I had heard many bad things about this episode, so expected it to be terrible, but to be honest, it just felt very 'meh'. It was just another 'Homer gets a profession' episode to me, nothing more, nothing less. There were a few reasonably amusing moments, I guess. However, the introduction of the stalker woman felt forced and unecessary. It just felt rushed.
Replaceable You - 4.75/10 I didn't really like this one much, it was pretty dissapointing. The plot was a wasted oppurtunity and didn't really develop. The subplot was just plain odd.
Homer of Seville: 5/10: The snipers repeatedly missing the stalker, and circling the "I"s and "A"s were the highlights of another inoffesnsive but bland episode.
Replaceable You 2/5 or 4/10
Midnight Towboy - 6/10 One of of the two Season 19 episodes that I had seen once before. To my pleasant surprise, it was better than I remembered it. The premise is a bit dull (towing isn't the most exciting of proffessions), and I wasn't all to keen on the climax of the episode, but there were quite a few funny moments (I really liked 'Mr. T is the Lion King'), and it managed to keep my interest.

Midnight Towboy: 7.5/10 - Easily the best S19 showing so far, despite the poor subplot.

It was pretty decent until Homer got hit by the car.

Season 19 Episode 4: 7/10 - Despite Gil's shooting, this was the funniest S19 episode so far ("the police, said that was more than fair", for example), and was a lot better than Pokey Mom.
Season 2:
Three Men and a Comic Book: A-
Treehouse of Horror: B-
Blood Feud: A
Two Cars in Every Garage...etc: B+/A-
Dead Putting Society: B+
Treehouse of Horror was mixed, it never really hit any high points and considering I'm not a fan of THOHs anyway this didn't stand out for me. Blood Feud I think is one of the best of the season, it's just simply a very amusing episode and I love it. Dead Putting Society started off well, I had it down as a solid A-, but it kinda went down hill. I got tired of Homer's hatred of Ned and his constant anger even if it was better done than in say, When Flanders Failed. One thing I have to say about season 2 though is that Lisa is very well done this season. Every time she appears in an episode in season 2 it's really refreshing; proof that she can be a great character when written well.
Season 19:
Midnight Towboy: C+
I Don't Wanna Know....etc: B-/C+
I thought it was much better than Pokey Mom and I actually liked Dwight as a character and there were some pretty good jokes (not to mention some p
