Homer vs. Dignity. I was wrong about that episode. In the past I said it got off to a great start but I re-watched it the other sight and it was complete crap throughout.

Smart and Smarter - S15 E13

I actually hadn't seen it before, so it was a nice surprise. I find that the "classic era" for Al Jean's solo showrunning (seasons 14 - 16) offer pleasant viewing experiences when I catch the episodes I've never seen. I don't know if it's in comparison of the recent episodes or what, but I find myself enjoying them.

As much as I enjoy Al Jean, I do think season 16 should've been his last season as showrunner. I'm sure some think it should've been the last season of the series, but I think a new showrunner would've injected a freshness into it.

Indeed, I agree for the most part. He ran his course, and the show is noticably worse in season 16.

That's very surprising. I find Little Girl in the Big Ten and Papa's Got a Brand New Badge to both be very good episodes. The Frying Game isn't quite on the same level, but its still decent in my opinion.

"Little Girl In The Big Ten" and "Papa's Got A Brand New Badge" both have decent premises (although the latter is essentially a rehash of "Homer The Vigilante"), but they're also rather dull and most of the jokes in them don't work for me. Yeah, there's nothing blatantly awful and no one is out of character in them, but I'm not going give an episode high grades for being inoffensive if it also fails at being entertaining.

I get that they're two of the most popular "post-classic" episodes, but I honestly don't enjoy them much. Mind you, there's only about two or three Jean-era episodes that I'd rate higher than C+, so it's not like I gave them freakishly low grades.

"The Frying Game" has a couple of decent jokes and the stuff with Homer and Marge in the third act is handled okay, but the bad far outweighs the good. F might be a bit harsh, but anything higher than a D- is being charitable.

city of new york vs homer simpson: some funny moments here and there, but homer's annoying and it paved the way for the vacation episode formula, moreso than bart vs. australia. C+
