And caught up with the season with Bart Stops to Smell the Roosevelts. Not bad, as it had both strong and weak moments, but it never seemed to get out of a ditch of mediocrety.

Marge's Son Poisoning - 5.25/10 Not great. The conflict felt empty and I didn't really 'feel' it. Also, the episode was relatively free of goood jokes. Compared to the other Marge and Bart episodes, this really pales in comparison. 'Marge Be Not Proud' or even 'Bart the Mother', this ain't.
Poochie needs to be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine

Last of the Red Hat Mamas - 5.5/10 Dull. Homer had some decent characterisation, I guess, but the main plot was boring, and became kind of silly when it became a plot to steal faberge eggs from Mr. Burns. The subplot was alright, and I guess there were a few good jokes.

"Treehouse of Horror XVI" C/C+
"Marge's Son Poisoning" C
"See Homer Run" C-
"The Last of the Red Hat Mamas" C-
Mamas was all over the place plot wise with the subplot barely being tied up and the main plot feeling squeezed for space, with a wacky ending. Homer was nice though which I guess is a plus. See Homer Run got better as it progressed but was ultimately forgettable, I felt they should have made it more of a Homer/Lisa episode than it was. In the beginning Homer was really annoying, I really don't like it when he puts on his patronising voice and goes "Look Lisa, Daddy's.... etc (with one exception being Secrets of a Successful Marriage, but that wasn't quite the same), it just makes him seem like he doesn't care.
More season 3:
"Bart the Lover" A/A-
"Homer at the Bat" A-
"Separate Vocations" A+
"Dog of Death" A-
Season 3 gets really strong around this point. Bart the Lover was a nice surprise, very funny and bart was in great character. Edna was also done very well. Homer at the Bat was just a gag fest episode really. Very amusing but not much else. But it succeeds as a gagfest, so it just about pulls it off. Separate Vocations was just as great as I remember and Dog of Death was great too, some very impressive humour there.

The Italian Bob - 3.5/10 Shocking. The plot was lazy, the jokes were unfunny, and there was vitrually no tension or drama, despite it being a Bob episode. Worst of Season 17, so far.

A Milhouse Divided 9/10 Very good. The humour was top-notch and Milhouse episodes are usually good - this one is no exception. Though the conflict in the latter half of the episode was just another marriage crisis, I still found myself interested in it.

Simpsons Christmas Stories - 5.5/10 Ho ho ho? More like ho ho-hum. This was boring - no surprises there. I don't usually like trilogy episodes, and I didn't like this. When the stories are short, you can't look for anything plot-driven, so you have to look for humour. As expected for a late-Jean episode, humour was rather lacking. Still, it was a bit better than I used to think it was.
