Simpson Safari
"Simpson Safari" exceeded my expectations and ascended into such emasculating glory that such episodes as "Cape Feare" and "Blood Feud" wallow in. We start of with an inspired montage of scenes involving Homer and the kids shopping for groceries, everything is A-O-K. Not one minor nitpick at all from those scenes, and I get a hearty laugh from most of the antics. In a believe twist, the bagboys of America go on strike, and we are forcefully given some coherent satire at the minimum waged employees of America. The Simpsons are starving and go to Africa to find food (that is, after Homer wins ANOTHER contest!). When they get to Africa, it's a non-stop hilarity. Some jokes I admired to such an extent that saying I admired them would saying too less, include; Homer's ignorance about the first human skeleton, The wild-life "unfolding" whereas Homer's pre-occupied with the car's milage, Bart getting his lip disked. Then, there's a rather strange twist with the family sailing away on a warrior shield to escape a carnivore hippo who hates water. They encounter a monkey lady and are given diamonds. The plot it's self isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but is backed up with such diamonds in the sack as "I noticed your house smells of faeces" and "I haven't said anything in a while" (excellent meta-referencial humour there, Scully). How so many people can put this episode down is truly a questionable, uh, thing. If it weren't for the rather biazarre plot, I'd think this was the best episode ever. B.5+++++/10
