    Season 2... Classic?

Probably one of the most complained about things by ye olden fans(Besides Scully, of course) is the fact that Season 2 isn't considered part of the classic era. Many, including myself, think it's a great season and feel spited by the public for not recognizing it's greatness and giving it classic status. Others, though, feel the season is rightfully excluded and should not be considered part of the Golden Age of the Simpsons. So, because I'm bored and felt the need to kick my post count up a notch, I've created this poll to see just how people here stand on this important issue: Should Season 2 be considered part of the Classic Era?

    Vote away.
    Season 17 Thus Far:

    Bonfire of the Manatees: C+
The Girl Who Slept Too Litte: A-
Milhouse of Fog and Sand: B+

Season 2 is 10X better than season 1, but not nearly as good as 3-8.

Anyone who hates this season is not a Simpsons fan. There's great emotion, realistic situations with great character development, and plenty of humor. With stuff like "Lisa's Substitute," "Three Men And A Comic Book," and "One Fish, Two Fisb, Blowfish, Bluefish" it's definitely classic.

it's classic in my book, some great character eps during this season that really developed some of the characters extremely well. A great emotional season, and almost all if not all of the episodes are extremely enjoyable. I don't think the humor had hit it's peak yet, but they were still pretty damned funny.

Absolutely. Second best season ever. I don't see how it could be seen as inferiot to Seasons 3-8 since it's superior to almost all of them. Season 1 is also classic. The era is 1-8

Classic. This season had it all. From the political satire of "Two Cars on Every Garage", emotional or even sad episodes, like "Lisa's Substitute" and "One Fish, Two Fish...", not to mention all the memorable gags (Homer falling down the gorge, Maggie hitting Homer with a mallet) and spot-on characterization (this was when Homer was the lovable oaf we love and not the jerkass we hate), this was definitely a classic season, and in my opinion, maybe the most underrated season of all-time. (Updated season rankings: 6,4,3,2,7,5,8,1,9,14,10,13,11,12).

Precisely. The animations good for the time also. All the early seasons are enjoyable to watch, even season 1.

Eh, not quite sure if I'd go that far.

But yeah, this is a classic season. IMO, it'd be more interesting to pit season 1 with the same question.

With such classics as "Lisa's Substitute", "Homer vs. Lisa and The 8th Commandment", "Itchy and Scratchy and Marge" & "The Way We Was" to name a few, I don't see how season 2 couldn't be seen as a "classic" season.

Of course. It's an amazing season, easily between my favourites. The classic era, IMHO, goes from this one to 7th.

Definately. It is one of my favourite seasons, it's a shame that I have over-watched the DVD, now I am kinda bored of it. But in 5-10 years time it will soon become just as entertaining again (to me).

Oh, come on! Of course it's a classic! Almost every episode in this season is excellent. I can't believe anyone who doesn't think it is. Great characterisation, emotion, humour and storylines all round. I think the classic era is 1-7.

    A tribute to Bart Simpson

You think THAT's bad? What about that time when I was turned into a Tetris block?

It's a classic in every sense of the word, and that cannot be denied. It can be argued, but it can't be denied.

I would easily agree Season 2 is classic, as it has a ton of great episodes and it shows off everything that made the series such a hit.

Yes, that probably would be more interesting, but because so many people are disgruntled over Season 2 being generally excluded from Classic Era status, I just wanted to see what the majority thought.

So far Classic is beating Not A Classic with a whopping 17 to 2. I think it's safe to say that most people consider it part of the Classic Era.

2 has obviously been determined a classic.
    What about season one?
