A great flashback episode and nice way to see how Bart was born, loved the joke
"I can't believe Darth Vader was Luke's father!"
"Way to ruin the ending jerk!"
Hmm, I wish you'd of included a visual; because I can't remember this episode (it might be a very forgettable one).
If there's one flashback in Season 2, and one in Season 3, then I didn't care for the one in Season 3. Is this the one in season 3?
i like this episode. It's a great classic episode imo. B+
At the moment this is my favorite episode of the Simpsons.
Wants user notes ;)
4/5, terrific episode.
Kids, let me tell you about another so-called ``wicked'' guy. He had long hair and some wild ideas. He didn't always do what other people thought was right. And that man's name was...
I forget. But the point is... I forget that, too. Marge, you know what I'm talking about. He used to drive that blue car?
-- Homer's parable of the guy in the blue car, ``Homer the Heretic''
Ralph: I Won! I Won!
Principal Skinner: No Ralph this means you're failing English
Ralph: Me fail English? That's unpossible.

gave it 5/5 it's so sweet! and funny, it has one of my favourite simpsons moments ever when they leave the cinema after empire strikes back and Homer says: "Wow, what a movie! who would've though Darth Vader was Luke Skywalker's father?!"
and I love when Homer and Marge high five at the end because she's not pregnant, right after Homer says something about how his kids are a blessing
overall a great episode
Just rewatched it. Still as brilliant and magical as ever. This is possibly my favorite Homer/Marge episode; I think their dynamic in this one was very genuine and touching and both of them were realistically and endearing characterized. Every character was in top-form, the plot was solid, perfectly-paced, and satisfying all-around, the emotion was prominent but not at all manipulative, and the humor was great and included only one joke I can remember that I didn't like (Homer wanting to deliver the baby and Marge telling him not to, the way it was done seemed pretty forced). Easily the best flashback episode. A+
Terrific episode although it's the flashback that I don't watch as often as 'The Way We Was' and 'Lisa's First Word'. Really well told with nice romantic, heartfelt moments and funny lines.
A+
"As long as he's got eight fingers and eight toes, he's fine by me."

Really good, even by s3 standarts. A
Ah, another one of those genius episodes that tugs the heartstrings while paralyzing you with laughter. This definitely ranks along side episodes like "Marge vs The Monorail" and "Who shot Mr. Burns? Part I" in terms of the extremely high joke-to-minute ratio. And it made me cry too, so a huge bonus for that! 5/5
"Attention Duelists!"
I loved this one. Funny and touching at the same time. 5/5
not a bad backstory episode and i liked the walking out of empire strikes back joke, 4/5
Perfect balance of humor and emotion, one of my favorites

"Lisa's First Word" is still my favorite flashback, but I really do adore this one. Love the entire chapel sequence and subsequent events. What the heck, I'm giving it a 5/5

5/5, one moment that sticks out for me is when Homer ruins the Star Wars ending and everyone groans![]()

I was the one to give it a 2/5. WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!??? It's a great episode, with hilarious jokes and touching moments. 5/5 now.

Very jammed pack in plot, emotion and jokes, and therefore it sometimes works - the Hospital birth scene is particularly amusing.
The only gripe I have is of Marge's mother being like Patty and Selma, and just being a generic anti-Homer character. 4/5
One of the best of season three. Hilarious, heartwarming, and a wonderful edition to the excellent season that is season three. 5/5.
Really good flashback episode, and the beginnig of the "big eyes" period :
