I also thought it might be orange, but I think that it was because that was the color representing season 4 episodes in "The Simpsons: A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family".

Ralph and Barney are probably featured simply because they were looking for a new cover design that was unlike the previous three.

Probably. I wonder what the disc design will be.

There's probably a ton of other characters on the cover, look at Homer's eyes.....and you can see from the art that the theme this time is just a ton of characters....just happens that Barney and Ralph can be seen with the cover box on top.

My point was more that Ralph happens to be a fairly unimportant character in the series (granted he's a major player in one season four story, but otherwise he's a bit character. Though I guess the t-shirt manufacturers would disagree with me), so its odd that he's up in front and taking up so much space of the picture. Barney makes sense, since he's in the show all the time, but aside from "I Love Lisa" (and "This Little Wiggy", but that's years later) he pretty much just shows up here and there and says little lines. You'd think someone like Krusty, Moe, Grandpa, Milhouse etc would be there instead.

But, as has been established there's probably a lot of other characters around the couch at least.
Two eyes, two ears, a chin, a mouth, ten fingers, two nipples, a butt, two kneecaps, a penis. I've just described to you the Loch Ness Monster. And the reward for its capture? All the riches in Scotland. So I have one question: why are you here?

You'll probably get them, they had them on the S3 discs.

Each box set is based on an actual couch gag.

The first one was the original couch gag that opens up Some Enchanted Evening and Call Of The Simpsons.

The second was the one that included Santa's Little Helper and Snowball II, from Dead Putting Society and Bart's Dog Gets An F.

The third set showed The Simpsons tipping over on their couch, from Stark Raving Dad and Bart's Friend Falls In Love.

This next set appears to be based on the couch gag where hundreds of Springfieldians enter the room and sit in front of the TV, much like the couch gag that begins Marge VS. The Monorail. I guess they used characters like Ralph on this cover as they are more instantly recognisable.

What the fuck is going on I just read at Snpp.com that they've pushed back the european 'Simpsons go wild' DVD to June 15th. this only justifiable if The U.K release is coming sooner which it wont be this is absloutley outrageous.

I wonder if they're going to do another "Pop-Up" episode like Colonel Homer on S3. Krusty Gets Kancelled would be the obvious candidate, but A Streetcar Named Marge and Lisa The Beauty Queen might be interesting too.

Possibly, but it doesn't fit the actual cover theme with the switched heads.......now there is an actual gag though that fits it though, the recent one where the family takes a photo that looks just like the Season Two cover.

Hmmm... if the covers are based on couch-gags, and they're now putting people besides family members on the covers...

I predict that the last season will either have the 'Grand Couch Gag' (the one with elephants and such) or it will be one which containing most of the characters (The full version of the one George mentioned). Watch for this in 14 or so years- I swear, I'll be right.
    Season 17 Thus Far:

    Bonfire of the Manatees: C+
The Girl Who Slept Too Litte: A-
Milhouse of Fog and Sand: B+

Whoops...I got confused. Season Two's box set is actually the couch gag for Marge Gets A Job and So It's Come To This: A Simpsons Clipshow.

If you want an indication as to when the UK release is coming, check the bbfc website. As soon as the features get rated its pretty certain fox.co.uk will annouce a release date.

I took the liberty of checking, and so far, nothing yet.

Hopefully they will appear soon, because the UK release of Season 3 was delayed due to BBFC not having rated the episodes in time.

Yeah, that was pretty poor last year, I only hope the same doesn't happen this year.

i pray that doesn't happene this year

  16. #286

Well the bbfc can only rate the episodes/features when fox sends them so there must have been a reason last year for the constent delays.

Yeah, but I think the BBFC got it delayed by a couple weeks as they took 4 or 5 weeks to rate some of the final extras/eps.

  18. #288

Its about time. Cover art looks beautiful. This is my favorite season, so bet I will buy this the day it arrives.

    Thank you, dear Lord.

Anyone know of the UK release yet? Have any UK sites put up a date?

  20. #290

Not so far, I'm guessing its going to be later than the states though. "The Simpsons: Go Wild" is being released over here on June 7th (although nothing has been passed by the BBFC yet) so I doubt fox would release a boxset a week later.

You never know, the first two seasons were actually out here earlier. It might even be June 7 as well as Gone Wild!

(Starts praying for a bizarre mix up, and a ship of Season 4 dvds are sent to WHSmith in the Easter holidays, then WHSmith reads the label wrong and sells them for £4.00 instead of £40.00)

The Pop-Up was awesome. I hope they do another one.

THe box art is different to what I was expecting, but still good. I love Snowball at the front with the power cord.

    Uhmm.. yeah... 8-)

And I've come to the conclusion that S2's art is the colour "teal".

    Better than "Puce".

The way I see it, if you Brits get the DVD's before the Yanks the rest of us in the Commonwealth should. It's only fair to everyone but them.

Anyone want to shed light on what the Cajun controversy was? And interesting to see the Bush vs. Simpsons thing back....

In any case though, expect at least a few of those features, assuming they're real, to be dropped by release time.

  28. #298

If we do get all those features then this will easily be the best set of the simpsons so far. I wonder whether everything will be included this time around though?

I just don't understand how that works.
