Rate & Review: Grampa VS. Sexual Inadequacy

I read a lot of complaints that recent episodes are full of sex jokes. This episode from the classic season six contains a lot of sex jokes, so what's your opinion?

8.5/10, I liked a lot, plenty of focus on Homer and Grampa's relationship.

Best one word joke in the history of the simpsons. Dan's delivery was perfect.

5/5. I love this episode. It's incredibly hilarious, and I like the touching moments between Homer and Grampa. And the subplot about the kids discussing their outrageous ideas about martins, reverse vampires, and parents was just a riot. Even though there are a few sex jokes, they were mostly done in a tasteful manner. It's not like the sort of sex humor they had in Season Thirteen, for example.

4/5 only because the sexual humor was a lot more tasteful and in an appropriate manner, unlike the newer seasons, which are pretty shamless with the constant sexual jokes and undertones.

    I loved the line:
"I wonder what mom and dad are doing right now?"

The Al Gore thing and the kids guessing where there parents were. 3/5

To my surprise (as Grandpa is one of my more disliked characters), I really enjoyed this episode and thought it offered something very unique and memorable. The subplot with the kids had some gags fall flat, but it was still a good balance to the serious, emotional problems that Homer was battling in the meantime. I also love the sequence with Homer trying to be a "super-dad" and his line, "Someday you'll thank me for all this scary love." The exploration of Homer's childhood and his relationship with his dad was well-done and the episode was overall one of the best of season 6. 4.5/5

BRILLIANCE! The plots all work together in some way or another, and the jokes are fantastic. Easy 5/5.

I think it's a good solid episode from season 6
with a good story about Homer and Grandpa.
Also the sub-plot with the kids thinking it is a
    alien conspiracy was funny.

I hadn't seen this episode in ages when I watched it on my DVD several months ago, and to tell you the truth, I remembered it better than it actually was. It is still an excellent episode, and I love it, but some parts do drag on a bit.

Very good, tasteful jokes on a delicate (for The Simpsons at that time) subject matter, alot to like about this episode, as others have already mentioned.

3/5, one of the worst episodes of Season 7.
Kids, let me tell you about another so-called ``wicked'' guy. He had long hair and some wild ideas. He didn't always do what other people thought was right. And that man's name was...
I forget. But the point is... I forget that, too. Marge, you know what I'm talking about. He used to drive that blue car?

-- Homer's parable of the guy in the blue car, ``Homer the Heretic''

    Ralph: I Won! I Won!
Principal Skinner: No Ralph this means you're failing English
Ralph: Me fail English? That's unpossible.

Good but not great sex jokes didn't overload it as much as they could and the Homer-Grampa plot was great as well as the alien conspiracy sub plot. There were quite a few good jokes in this episode that made me laugh.4/5

It's kind of neat to see a Simpsons with a sex-heavy theme. They don't really explore it all that much compared to other topics so this was an episode I'm glad they made. It's not among the best of the best, but it's good. 4/5

One of my absolute favourites, full of hilarious jokes and the sex themed plot is a nice turn but not overdone.

Love this one. Hilarious, with Grampa in top form. Probably his best episode, actually.

4/5 -I found this episode boring a few years ago but have come to like it much more now. It explored some of the dynamics of the relationship between Homer and his father quite well and the sexual humor was tastefully done unlike in later seasons. The plot was a bit weak but the script and characterization was excellent.

Okay, I was only half-watching this episode when it was on TV yesterday, but... this was really dull. It's one of, if not the worst of season 6 and perhaps even one of the worst of the classic era.

Of course, it's still okay, characterisations were fine, story paced well, etc, but the plot was fairly boring. I was never interested in the story and there weren't many good jokes, though I loved the "serious drinking" line, the kids at the cinema, and "we're through the looking glass, people". Maybe it's because Grampa (I swear it's spelt Grandpa) isn't a favourite of mine, I don't know, but I was bored during the episode. The kids' subplot was by far the best part of the episode, thanks to its absurdity. Though it was still only "good".

But as said the A-plot is pretty dull. I can't remember any good jokes from the A plot (though I was only half watching...), and the episode as a whole feels very, very forgettable; I think the lack of posts in the R&R reflects that to a certain degree. 6.5/10 from me.
