http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?r=0&s=1&c=6609

Please do not clutter up this thread with endless speculation over package artwork. Wait untill you have confirmed infomation and then post a link to that source. Thankyou very much.

"Fox Home Entertainment has revealed early details on the sixth season of The Simpsons, which will be arriving in shops this August. Each of the season six episodes will be presented in 1.33:1 full frame along with English Dolby Digital 5.1, and French Dolby Surround tracks. English and Spanish subtitles will also be included. I'm afraid Fox has yet to reveal details on the extra material for this one, but we'll bring you word as soon as we get it. The set will be available to own from the 16th August, and should retail at around $49.98. Stay tuned for further details, as well as the official region one package artwork."

My guess for color: Yellow or gold, I believe it was mentioned in the other thread, that it would fit pretty well. Yep, it will be interesting hearing commentaries from the new staff, as we got a pretty good preview. Al Jean and Mike Reiss will be missed in my opinon, they are usually the most informative.

Postmaster 12-30-2004 07:13 AM

Actually we could be getting Al and Mike on A Star is Burns and Round Springfield, since they produced those episodes with The Critic staff.

Oh and my color guess Orange, if not green, but a much more Darker/Brighter more vibrant green than season 2.
The Solid Gold set should be saved for season 7.

Butters 12-30-2004 07:16 AM

Wonder if Matt will be on the A Star is Burns commentary...

Colour guess: Yellow.

Looking forward to this, plenty of episodes I haven't seen. Ought to be a good buy.

Oh yeah, a possible extra feature, could be when Matt got pissed at putting in Jay Sherman. So maybe a featurette of that is possible.

Here's the article

prince jafar allah 12-30-2004 07:36 AM

"Hi, so this is the episode Lisa's Rival. This is David Mirkin, executive producer."
"This is Mark Kirkland, I directed this episode."
"And this is Matt Groening."

"Mike?"
"What? Oh, right... *clears throat* Yo VIP. Let's kick it!"

"Mike! Mike! Cut that out! I remember specifically asking you not to bring your extensive collection of Latin percussion instruments to the DVD commentary recording!"
"David, David, David. A empty yoghurt carton is not Latin! See, look - Made In...oh wait, it is. Well anyway... "

"Stop!"
"What, is it hammer time? Hahahaha! Did you get that reference? MC Hammer!"
"Yeah, I..."

"No! Mike!"
*a fight breaks out as mirkin and scully begin to hit each other with percussion instruments*

My guess is yellow. And if it isn't yellow, orange. But I doubt it will be orange because red and orange would look so similar right next to eachother.

Looks like some good episodes. And everyone seriously hope against the worst- a double sided disc to fit in all the episodes. *shivers*

I seriously doubt that FOX will be stupid enough to do that. They are a little bit more careful with "The Simpsons" than they are with KotH, mostly because more people buy it. The set will be either 5 discs with 5 on each. Only other possible conclusion would be 5 discs with 6 on the 1st four, and one on the last disc, but have that last disc loaded with special features.

Malachy 12-30-2004 08:11 AM

Never underestimate what FOX will do to save money.

Mason 12-30-2004 08:26 AM

Hahaha Jafar. Does anyone do Scully skits better then Jafar?

As Homer_Thompson said, this should be a very interesting season commentary wise. Not only do we hear Scully for the first time and the "A Star is Burns" commentary, but also Greg Daniels commentary where he actually came up with the idea of the episode, so he should have a bit more to say then he did on Homer and Apu and Secrets of a Successful Marriage. Jean & Reiss will be back for a couple, and I'm really looking foward to Who Shot Mr. Burns? commentary.

Also, there's 25 episodes! That means 25 commentarys! Awsome. If Fox goes with the logical 5 episodes on each disk, there will be a little bit more room for extras on each disc.

Hopefully they will increase the number of animatics and illustrated commentarys like they did from season 4 to 5.

Also, the packaging will hopefully be like 5, with the various details and specific characters on each disc.

Anyways let's all hope for a summer release date.

Color Guess: Dark Green. As H_T said, they have to save gold for 7.

the simpsons brainiac 12-30-2004 08:36 AM

My guess for colour is yellow. I cant wait to get this one Ive been waiting for season 6 and 7 on dvd since they released season 1. I absolutely love season 6 & 7.(season 7 more)

Ed Flanders 12-30-2004 09:05 AM

I'm interested in seeing which writers are going to do commentaries, as we have a few new faces in Season 6 like Sacks, Crittenden, Collier, Forrester, and, of course, Scully. I hope they all do commentary, as commentaries without the actual writer make me feel like we're missing information.

I don't really know what they are going to talk about, the production of the episode, of course, but that won't fill 22 plus minutes. Hopefully, Mirkin will save with his obssesive blabbering, Scully should be interesting to listen to, but I'm definatly looking foward to "A Star is Burns" commentary, as thats when Groening got really pissed at James Brooks, for cross plugging "The Critic" should be good.

Malachy 12-30-2004 09:45 AM

I don't mean to be rude but...What do you mean you don't know what they're going to talk about? Haven't you listened to other commentaries?

-M,G,S,K: pfft

-Mirkin: Yeah that's about right

Most of the good ones are in the early seasons when they talk about how they started out. I just thought it might be a little dry by Season 6.

George Cauldron 12-30-2004 11:36 AM

I'm guessing the box colour will be, at random, yellow, for that was my prediction (which never came true) for the last few box sets. I think Fox is perfectly capable of fitting seven episodes on one disc if they have to. DVDs have the storage capability to put at least eight episodes on one disc. Sure, they'd probably have to remove extra features to accommodate a seventh episode, but those can go onto the other three discs instead. Problem solved.

law'n 12-30-2004 01:47 PM

I just want the episodes unedited... :( Season 5 set was perfect in my opinion... I can't think of anymore improvements. do you think they will keep doing 2 a year?

DotheBartman 12-30-2004 02:30 PM

I'm superpsyched for this. I guess I always am right after a release. But I'm definitely looking forward to this more then I was five. At least two of my top ten episodes (Lisa's Wedding and Homer Badman), plus more interesting and ambitious storylines (thus hopefully better commentaries). And commentary for "A Star is Burns" sounds fairly tantalizing, assuming they're willing to talk about the controversy. And I can't wait to have a lot of these uncut ("Homer Badman" in particular has a really criminal cut made to it in syndication).

Only imrovement I can think of is that I'd really like to see them include the original episode promos from Fox. I just really like seeing those things, for various reasons. Other then that, sticking almost completely to the season five design should be fine with me.

As a side note, I'm also vaguely wondering if the "Homer the Great" commentary will mention this board.....

That would be pretty good idea, but I only remember them adding it once as special feature in Season 3 for the episode "Colonel Homer" which was pretty entertaining for the 30 seconds it lasted. Also in promos, there are a scenes that never make it to the episode, so I'd say it be a pretty good idea.

Cecil Crane 12-30-2004 02:58 PM

Wow, I can remember like it was yesterday when I held my Season One DVD in my hand and said "So what?", now we're entering the prime of the golden age for Simpsons DVDs. All 25 of the greatest Simpsons episodes.

Anyone think that this DVD (That will be Orange..Wink) will come out on time, or do you think ther'll be some sort of delay?

So....."So what?"????!!!! The day my season one set came was one of the most exciting days in my entire Simpsons fandom! Some people just don't appreciate greatness.....

But anyway, to answer your question, I don't think it'll be delayed at this point. Since the third or fourth set its been steady, and they seem to have finally found a "groove" with these releases that I don't think they'll deviate from too much. Season two (probably the most exciting of all the releases to me, incidentally) was a weird occurance, that it kept getting delayed over and over.

The "So What" was directed to the lacking in the Season One Set, in both Episodes (They weren't my favorites) and Content. Don't get me wrong it was great to have, but I didn't get excited until Season Two DVD.

I know it's probably gauranteed, but I hope Jon Lovitz returns for the commentaries. But, I'm a little skeptical as to whether Conan could return, I know he wasn't a part of the staff anymore, but I really thought he was funny on the Season 4 and 5 DVDs.

Homer Jay 12-30-2004 06:24 PM

The major thing that I am interested in is the uncut episodes (as always), the deleted scenes, and the commentaries on the episodes especially A Star is Burns with or without Matt Groening.

I am also wondering whether or not the board will be mentioned.

law'n 12-30-2004 10:18 PM

I assume you guys are talking about the original scene (which was in the season?) where "Homer is rejected from the No Homers Club"?

DotheBartman 12-30-2004 11:22 PM

Yeah.

I don't think they'd talk about us at length or anything, but I wouldn't be too suprised if one of them says "you know, I saw an internet board out there named after the club in this episode" or something along those lines. Its more or less happened before (Psyche/Andy quoted on season three) so I'll be curious to see if we get mentioned there. And maybe we wont.

I'm also really looking forward to the "Another Simpsons Clip Show" commentary, come to think of it. There should be some interesting discussion on it (and I wonder if Vitti will be on it, since it was implied/half-confirmed that he was "Penny Wise" on the track for the first clip show).

Simpsons Forever! 12-31-2004 02:23 AM

I reckon Season 6 will be either green or bright orange in colour, as they should save yellow/gold for Season 7.

Head Bee-Guy 12-31-2004 02:26 AM

"Springfield's most Wanted" could be in this set, the Season 7 set, or no set at all: what do people think about that? I've never seen it but I think it would be more appropriate to put it in season 6, since it's speculating about what you've already seen, even if it did air nearer to season 7.

After the first 3 sets were metallic colours, 4 and 5 have been bold blue and red, so I would go for a bold, grass green this time.

DotheBartman 12-31-2004 02:47 AM

Well, RogerMyersIII said in another thread that "Springfield's Most Wanted" is slated for S7 (hopefully not subject to change; he didn't say). I think it makes sense to put it there since that's where it aired. Though it does raise a potential dillemma for me (when the time comes): when I first open that set, do I watch that special first, to "experience" it the same way viewers originally did? Or temporarily skip it and just watch the episodes first? Decisions, decisions....

Jesus 12-31-2004 02:59 AM

Color guess: black (why not)

On "So its come to this" Vitti says "it was a long legal story of how I came to write the other 2, which no one's going to want to hear"

Which you know, really makes me want to hear.

I don't remember which one. I'm thinking maybe "Radio Bart" but that's just a somewhat wild guess. The good news is its at the very beginning of whichever commentary it was, so that should make it easier. EDIT: It was Lisa the Greek actually.

But at the beginning Jean introduces himself and says something like "I was just reading a comment on the internet that my voice is too nasally, so I say, (jokingly) to hell with you!" There had been a thread previously (a posting of a radio interview with Jean I think) where Psych/Andy made that comment.

(This wasn't kept particularly "hush hush" by the powers that be here, and given the immortalization of this board since then as "N.H.C. Champs", I think its okay for me to share it here. I should also point out that this was all just based on circumstantial evidence and as far as I know we don't know for sure that he didn't read that comment somewhere; its just very likely that he was reading that comment).

I know. I was on the edge of my seat, heh. I hope he does elaborate on those other two (if he's willing to).

EDIT: Also, on another note, the "Sideshow Bob Roberts" commentary could be interesting too. Dunno how many people know this (it is documented in the capsule) but Groening did a "Life in Hell" cartoon shortly after that episode aired, with some "reactions" to that episode directly quoted (it was a bunch of bullshit diatribes about the show having a "bias" against the right wing, and even included ways in which this poster wanted Groening to die. To this guy's credit he later claimed he was just joking and bored, but its hard to say). It would be nice if they included the cartoon itself actually.

I really hope Springfield's Most Wanted appears on the Season 6 DVD. I don;t know why but is just seems like it would fit.

Here's another question, what color do you think "The Simpsons" logo will be on the spine and cover? Season 1&2 were Red, then 3,4,5 were yellow. What do you think?

snrub 12-31-2004 03:55 AM

Season 1's Spine writing was Yellow - at least it was on the r2 version

Robertuybrush 12-31-2004 05:17 AM

Yeah, season 1's letters were yellow in r2 but red in r1.

I'm sooo looking forward to this one (maybe even more than to season 5). The sixth season is really, really great. One of my favorites ever. Can't wait to hear the first commentaries from Scully and the commentary on "A Star Is Burns".

I think it should have 5 DVDs and a yellow/golden box with red letters.

Probably sometime late in the summer. If it gets delayed then expect it next Christmas.

FornicationDrones 12-31-2004 12:35 PM

What's your rationale for Fox not being able to fit 7 episodes on one DVD?? Haven't you ever seen a 2 hour+ movie on disc before? I just watched Good, The Bad, and The Ugly--that's 3 hours--all on one disc.

The first disk will as always contain all the special features, such as Springfields most wanted, interviews and the like.

Like it's not bad enough you're speculating the participants of an unannounced Simpsons DVD, you also guess that voice actors will be present for every session (which has never happened), even going as far to name actors specifically (!?!), and you guess that Mike Scully will participate in episodes other than the ones he wrote for god only knows what reason. Also, John Swartzwleder? No. And you forgot to include David Mirkin. Stupid ass.

Well aren't you the dickhead.....
Also I fucking stated that the commentaries are guesses of people most likely to come up.

>_>, I was just guessing, as far as I know I was being a little helpful by suggesting the layour of the disks, I never said all those people would appear on those commentaries right theres but they are the possibilities. And we all know that this dvd will eventualy come out anyway so we are allowed to speculate because there isn't really any information.
Chill out and stop being a po-faced fucker.

Yeah, and you're wrong, for all the reasons I stated. John Swartzwleder has never done a commentary and has said that he never will. Writers like Mike Scully rarely (if ever) participate in commentaries other than their own unless they were heavily involved in the creative process (which Scully wasn't during season six) or are filling in for Swartzwelder (remote chance on “Homie the Clown”, Scully’s favorite episode). Guessing specifically which voice actors will participate in which commentary track is incredibly presumptuous considering their participation has been mostly random and sporadic to this point. And finally, you miraculously failed to include David Mirkin, the only person who's guaranteed to participate in every commentary (bar the two Jean and Reiss eps).

I know, and as far as educated guesses go, yours was preschool level at best.

Fucking hell BloodE that's the most terrifying thing I've ever seen,
But actually, I suppose I should thank you, you've actually made me feel a lot better about myself.

What's your rationale for Fox not being able to fit 7 episodes on one DVD?? Haven't you ever seen a 2 hour+ movie on disc before? I just watched Good, The Bad, and The Ugly--that's 3 hours--all on one disc
Yeah but not with commentaries and special features, and if it was possible they might have put S1 on 2 discs since that would save money.

Aren't the commentaries just an extra audio track, so they wouldn't take up that much space on the disk. As for the special features, like I say, put them on a different disk to make up for putting 7 or 8 episodes on the first.

Postmaster 01-01-2005 06:54 AM

Even if they are just an audio track its still space. and they would want to put special features relative to an episode on a different disc.

I just assume there even cramming a disc when there's 6 episodes, what about futurama season 4, 18 episodes could easily be put onto 3 discs unless there's some special features that clog it up, which I assume there was, otherwise why not put it onto 3 discs.

BloodE 01-01-2005 08:06 AM

Notice how the other seasons have barely any special features on the other disks other than disk 1?
And the commentary tracks would probably not take up very much space. Somebody with a dvd burner could check how much space it takes up or whatever.
