After 9/11, Matt Groening has tried to stay away from the news, because it would always cause him to have panic attacks. However, on July 21st, Matt was walking by a television store, and everyone was crowding by, so he looked to see what was so important. Then, he saw the most heartbreaking sight he had ever seen.

Afterwards, he ran out of the building, and locked himself into his car. Panicking, he looked through his files, and found a single piece of paper and a pencil. He grabbed the both of them and began rapidly drawing as fast as he could. He then passed out for several hours. Afterwards, someone woke him up and saw how dehydrated he was. They helped him out, and a single piece of paper fell out.
