havent. and might i just say i really suck a fat cock for not listening to NMH earlier. the aeroplane album is like the best thing ever and everyone should buy it
whats a good airport song??
A Vale of Twisted Sendal and Gold Strike are both loverly. Pretty much everything on Nothing We Can Control is solid Au. A little less jangly than NMH, but atmospheric in the same way, like NMH meets Air.

I dunno, I just read pitchfork's review, and they said the album breaks into fast punk, and I'm just not a fan of albums like this. Hate most punk to begin with. Gil, do you know what pitchfork is talking about?
nathaniel
09-30-2002, 01:33 PM
why dont you not read bitchforkmedia's reviews and download some songs, slice
Paranoid Android
09-30-2002, 01:38 PM
Yeah I get that. But they're describing the album, and not talking about how good the album is, as of which it got a good grade. Sometimes I look at reviews so I know what it sounds like, not always for the grade it gets.
Pitchfork is often spot-on, but it sounds like they're hitting the crack pipe this time. I think you'd dig the Hotel, PA.

Alright, I check it. There's too much music. You guys seem to have a lot of cds, and I'm afraid I'll never catch up. Then again you're at least 5-7 years older than me(20).
By the way:
U2-Not sure, but it was the song on the Batman Forever soundtrack. Weird Al did a parody, I believe.
Beastie Boys-Sabotage
Bob Dylan-Everybody must get Stoned

Didn't mean to get you guys mad, geez. It's just that there are so many albums I don't have, and want. I don't have the time, nor the money to get them in such a short amount of time, and meanwhile as I get older cd's, newer great albums comeout.
Radiohead-Inside my Head
Grandaddy-Crystal Lake
Mercury Rev-Opus 40

Thanks for the name for the U2 song. Oh and btw, I just found out that Leonard Cohen wrote Hallajuah. Beautiful song, I'm just moved by it.

Singles were:
2000 Light Years From Home
She's a Rainbow
not the best two singles but they are singles....
anyways: I really disliked this album along with the general public...(felt like a shitty Sgt. Pepper which was what their intention was) except for 2000 light years which is the most kichass song...
i dunno..maybe it deserves another listen....but c'mon...nothing on the scale of Exile, or Sticky Fingers, Some Girls, Begger's Banquet, or Goat Head's Soup

i beg to differ...this thread is rather pointless, as it is just the same people posting the same groups day after day, week after week. gil and gilmore and that group have to make up for half the dam posts here, and we are at the point where no new songs get mentioned really. i think it should be striped up stickiness, it keeps some of the new interesting threads from being top.
Well that was sure based on nothing close to reality.:D
I can think of about three repeats on my lists, son. Care to point out more? Far more people have posted here than the so-called MNK, and I've gotten to hear a lot of good music based on other people's lists.

That's one of my problems with Phish. They cover songs too much, covering whole albums, a guy (Tom Marshall) who helps them write songs, and they jam which is just playing around to me. They're not creative. They're more like a performance band, anybody can do what they do. Sorry, had to say this, my friend is a fan of Phish and they're the only band he talks about.
My sixth song for this week is "Fifteen Feet of Pure White Snow", by Nick Cave.
America: Fuck Yea!
10-16-2002, 01:28 PM
while trying to not go to much offtopic... Phish only play whole albums on Halloween...it's their "Musical Costume"....as for other covers...they are just showing their skills and surprising people...
lyrics whatever...but Tom is good...jamming? playing around? you would say that to John Coltrane? They are always switching modes and shit mid jam...hell they all went to school to learn proper music...not like the Dead who were just a garage band...
and man..they have written over 200 songs with 150 of them in rotation...so I wouldn't say they are all covers...and they have played 3000 shows and maybe 2 covers at each show...

Except when it comes to singing. Trey isn't exactly a singer's singer. I think Page is a little better, I mean at least he sings. I mean their cover of Sabotage was disgusting, Trey couldn't match Adrock's voice. Sorry if I offend you, but again, my friend loves Phish and he drives me bats, and I constantly try to get him into new bands. I got him into the Flaming Lips though.

1. The brand new song from Matchbox Twenty, I think it's called "Disease." It's way better than "You Know You're Right" by Nirvana.
2. "She Hates Me," Puddle of Mudd
3. "Early Morning Phone Call," Zack Maloy
4. "You Know You're Right," Nirvana (I give it **1/2 out of *****)
5. "The Game of Love," Santana feat. Michelle Branch
P.S.-There's a reason "You Know You're Right" wasn't released, (besides Courtney needing $) it's because it's mediocre.

"Transmission" by Joy Division. Why the unnecessary addition of the lyrics? I don't know, the song gets me pumped.
Posted just over a month ago. Thought I'd bump it.

Jennifer dates a man in a 60s cover band
He's the Ess-dog, or Sean if you wish
She's 18, he's 31
She's a rich girl, he's the son
Of a Coca-Cola middle man
Kiss when they listen
To "Brothers In Arms"
And if there's something wrong with this
They don't see the harm
In joining their forces and singing along
See those rings on her toes Check that frisbee in his Volvo
It's a Volvo with ancient plates
They've got a dog she named Trey
A retriever with a frayed bandana around his neck
Trey has a window into their relationship
The baby talk voices
And the post class-a nasal drip
But it all seems to function
At least in her dog's mind
Let me out of here
Let me out of here
You got to let me out of here
You got to let me out of here
Let me out of here
Out of here
Out of here, out of here
Let me out of here ill hit the ground running
Jennifer left for school up in Boulder
And the Ess-dog came to visit when he could
But the strain was too much
They could not make up for distance
And the distance between their years
Neither one listens
To "Brothers In Arms"
The Ess-dog waits tables
And he sold his guitar
Jenny pledged Kappa and she started pre-law
And off came those awful toe rings
Off came those awful toe rings
Fucking love that song. Fave off that album, and that's high regard.
Celebrating the S&E redux?

g'night, all... i leave you with this...
Be courteous, kind and forgiving,
Be gentle and peaceful each day,
Be warm and human and grateful,
And have a good thing to say.
Be thoughtful and trustful and childlike,
Be witty and happy and wise,
Be honest and love all your neighbours,
Be obsequious, purple, and clairvoyant.
Be pompus, obese, and eat cactus,
Be dull, and boring, and omnipresent,
Criticize things you don't know about,
Be oblong and have your knees removed.
Be tasteless, rude, and offensive,
Live in a swamp and be three dimensional,
Put a live chicken in your underwear,
Get all excited and go to a yawning festival.
O.K. everybody!
Be courteous, kind and forgiving,
Be gentle and peaceful each day,
Be warm and human and grateful,
And have a good thing to say.
Be thoughtful and trustful and childlike,
(O.K. everybody on this!)
Be witty and happy and wise,
Be honest and love all your neighbours,
Be obsequious, purple, and clairvoyant.
(Let 'em hear you outside!)
Be pompus, obese, and eat cactus,
(Everybody sing!)
Be dull, and boring, and omnipresent,
Criticize things you don't know about,
Be oblong and have your knees removed.
(Ladies only)
Be tasteless, rude, and offensive,

Live in a swamp and be three dimensional,

Thanks for all the recommendations... this CD is splendiferous. Another groundless comparison: does Pedro the Lion owe anything to Catherine Wheel?
Woah...I can see it in the voice, but the same could be said of Coldplay owing the wheel...not to mention that many moments on 'Parachutes' reminded me of Dave Matthews.
I'd like to see the track list. I could use a new mix CD.
Now that the kittens have faded into the background, I've got others jammed in there:
