Langtry - The Devil's Horse[/url](had this a while, not sure why it took me so long to put up. Iron and Wine's back up guitarist doing Solo-Acoustic-Guitar, though I'd swear it was two guitars if I haven't seen it live)

i'd wait until posting my top 5 to say this, but the timing would be all wrong.

i also saw him open for iron/wine and he's definitely got some great songs, some of them could benefit from some lyrics. i was also mystified by his "this is one guitar, but watch me make it sound like two with no effort"...twas cool.

woah, cursive covers the smiths?

someone post this, stat.

You think that's something? I've just found out that Hanson covered Radiohead's "Optimistic" at their recent Boston show. And not just a two-second snippet; they did a full six-minute version -- flies are buzzing 'round my head, vultures circling my bed and all.

Someone post that, stat. And the Cursive thing as well.

Speaking of which:

I just downloaded the whole thing (which, by the way, isn't the final mix [as the final mix of "A Distorted Reality" appears on the Future Soundtrack for America and has a much more satisfying ending]). I was going to wait, but I've been having a really miserable time lately and needed some new Elliott, even his death is looming over the music. It's a really comforting album, actually. And achingly beautiful; but how couldn't it be?

FaBotH could have just "King's Crossing" alone on it and still be a front-runner for album of the year. Ages different than the fragile, live acoustic version I fell in love with last year, but just as good.

His family and friends did a spectacular job honoring Elliott's wishes.

And of course, God bless you, Mr. Smith.

The most affecting part of the album version? After Elliott sings, "Give me one good reason not to do it," you can very faintly hear a female voice buried in the mix responding, "Because we love you."

I wonder if that'll still be in the final version. In fact, there seems to be a lot of hidden voices on this album, but it might all just be imprints from the mixing sessions that'll be edited out later on. I hope the voices are intended, though; they lend quite a bit.

not only a lack of doom, just a lack of material in general, it's only 32 minutes long. "Back End", "Fall Back/Titty Fat", "Doper Skiller" are my favorite tracks. "R.A.P.G.A.M.E." has a good beat, but the guest mc's ruin the first half of the track. doom's verse is good, though. "Dope Skill" is also pretty good, decent beat and doom's verse is fine, just the production makes it sound too artificial.
